They pay a lower effective rate, but they pay a lot more money overall, and unlike the impoverished they don't get any benefits from the government. The vast majority of the taxes are paid by the tiny percentage of wealthy people. The ugly truth is that if they decide to take that wealth out of the US economy, it would implode overnight. We need to curb some of the more grievous excesses of capitalism, but we can't throw out the baby with the bathwater just to keep the laziest among us happy. Venezuela was the richest country in South America until they embraced socialism, and now they're so poor that they're eating pets and zoo animals.

I am a 70 year old retired teacher and I am loving your podcast! You give me hope that young people are still critical thinkers. You’re the same age as my kids and I’m so impressed with you. And Pete B. is a spectacular guest! I hope I live long enough to see him become president. I have supported him since his run in 2020. My youngest son (who wasn’t very political at the time) was the sound engineer for one of Pete’s fundraiser in Southern California and was absolutely amazed by him. He’s now very politically aware and it’s because of young men like you and Pete. Keep up your good work. You’re amazing!! ❤
Mayor Pete would be a great President. His communication skills and character are Presidential. His all-around skills, system knowledge and military experience are a rare and impressive combination.
I'm actually really happy that he wasn't chosen for VP. He doesn't need it, and I don't personally believe the VP to President pipeline is the right path. Leadership should be changed up more often to keep things fresh and intune with the populace. Now he has more time to get his face in front of Fox viewers and show them why when he runs for President that they will want him, and more time to build up a diverse background. I'm a lifelong Republican voting this year for Harris/Walz. I disagree with much of their policies. But for me, supporting Ukraine, NATO, and the rules based order embodied by the democratic world is too important to let Trump back into power. He and Vance keep saying things that suggest strongly to me that he'll screw over Ukraine and Europe to make nice with Putin. He also keeps saying stuff that is so autocratic. NO, I will not vote Trump/Vance and I would rather have 4 years of a Democrat presidency if it means the Trump faction gets forcibly ejected from the Republican party leadership so sanity can return to that party.
I hear you. BUT you've got Elon Musk supporting almost 3000 employees in seven key states to get voters to support Trump. Elon's America Pac is running Trump's ground game, plus advertising spending. He'll probably be weaponizing X with misinformation as well to make it happen. Get organizing and contributing if possible if you want to defeat Trump.
The ideals that made these men’s lives possible would be stripped away if MAGA and Project 2025 land in the Whitehouse. These expert, articulate, thoughtful family men, who happen to be gay.
We need to ease the nation into diversity. Meanwhile, he needs global experience. I want to see him as Secretary of State to give him that experience while the country gets over its fear of diversity. He should definitely be president in the future.
Mayor Pete is an amazing human being. I live in St Joe county, IN the city next door to where Pete was mayor and he did great things for SB. My sister met him last summer while having lunch in MI and she said he and Chastan were very kind and friendly to her as a stranger. This is a man with such intelligence, substance, and morals. @@ZanderFoulner Tim Walz doesn't strike me as a super ambitious politician....but you never know how anyone reacts when they get into that second in command role. The only stumbling block with Buttigieg running for the head job at the next election is he still has very young children & he has stated how much he prioritises the role of parent. But he is definitely the kind of robust intellect the country needs in that position, I mean the man was a Rhodes scholar at Oxford studying Philosophy, economics & politics no less!

What I love about Sec Pete - he's completely present in the moment not allowing past or future shiny objects to distract him. When he's asked a question, the depth of his knowledge, his empathy & his skills, shine brightly through in his eyes. He & Kamala are both inherently professional & grounded in common sense xo imho

I'm a lifelong Republican voting this year for Harris/Walz. I disagree with much of their policies. But for me, supporting Ukraine, NATO, and the rules based order embodied by the democratic world is too important to let Trump back into power. He and Vance keep saying things that suggest strongly to me that he'll screw over Ukraine and Europe to make nice with Putin. He also keeps saying stuff that is so autocratic. NO, I will not vote Trump/Vance and I would rather have 4 years of a Democrat presidency if it means the Trump faction gets forcibly ejected from the Republican party leadership so sanity can return to that party.

@@ZanderFoulner Tim Walz doesn't strike me as a super ambitious politician....but you never know how anyone reacts when they get into that second in command role. The only stumbling block with Buttigieg running for the head job at the next election is he still has very young children & he has stated how much he prioritises the role of parent. But he is definitely the kind of robust intellect the country needs in that position, I mean the man was a Rhodes scholar at Oxford studying Philosophy, economics & politics no less!
