“If think you’ve arrived somewhere, you’re lost” In both my piercing and tattooing apprenticeships I was taught, “If you think you know everything about this field, quit, you’re going to hurt someone”.
I fkn love this podcast episode! I wanna hear people who have been in the industry for a while give their point of view on things. I haven’t even hit a 3 year mark. I know I have a long way to go.
In my city, tattoo artists are in a state of panic and reducing the prices of their tattoos. What are your thoughts on this situation? Where do you foresee this trend heading, and what solutions do you believe can address this issue?
looks like there's a bit of a squeeze happening in your local tattoo scene-too many artists or not enough clients, causing a drop in prices. This can be rough for artists trying to keep their standards high and their pricing fair. While lower prices might sound great for customers at first, they can end up cheapening the whole art of tattooing if they go too low. This isn't just bad for the artists' wallets-it could push smaller, quality-focused studios out of business and leave only the big commercial ones standing. Basically, it risks turning tattooing into a price war where the quality and craft take a hit.
Even in small towns it starts being complicated. As always, quality may stay, but seeing how the whole world promotes mediocre nowadays, i'm wondering what the future is gonna be like. And hey, that "Californian sleeve" man!!!!!😂😂😂 Cheers take care guys
