What a cool dude with a great way of looking at things.
I wanted to get on pauls list when I was 18 but didnt have the money. i just turned 40 and would still LOVE to get a piece by paul. hopefully hes still tattooing when i can be ready! ha
Oh dude, cut that thing off 😂 that's too much lol
Truly, one of the only humans I ve ever met , that deserved a tattoo of the word “driven”. Honored to call him my friend.
Legendary for sure. J.R. Is the BEST!!!!!!!
Boomers eternally seething that no one wants a loud ass coil machine 😂 good.
These ads are so fucking cringey
What a legend
JR is #1
Big ups JR! Great podcast. Much love dawg!!!
Been getting tattooed by JR for many years I’m proud to say that JR is a friend and a great human in general!
Bless you guys
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This podcast is so helpfull. Thank u!
Paul, you aren't the only old timer out there. Some of us are still out here and not wanting to let the old ways go. I'm short of Paul's career by a handful of years. I believe I started when they lifted the ban in NYC. I was apprenticed under Steve Ferguson at the Ink Spot. I still charge for my apprenticeships and I've been bringing in a crew to teach them the old ways so there will be at least one more generation who wants to know the history and lineage, about machine building, needle making, and what should be in your tattoo ink. I'm investing in them and want them to be better than me. Yes I was on that stupid show but I'm also on the board of our trade organization and freaked over the whole idea of tattooing going corporate. So I'm afraid for my tatter tots that no matter how much of the old ways I instill in them that what was will be no more.
I feel bad not knowing him, but thanks to you guys, now i do!!! He is the incarnation of what a tattooer should be, for me at least, and that's what i've been working for everyday for the last 20 years! Keep bringing good people on!!! Cheers from France! Ps: just checked his insta, i'll be honest, not necessarily my cup of tea, but what he shares about what it is to be a tattooer is freakin spot on!!!! Take care!
I still have one of his first flash set from the mid 90s
What a spazoid.
You guys have been a tremendous inspiration on my tattoo journey. Yall are dolphinately my favorite thing to listen to while im practicing and drawing. The biggest of thank yous to all three of you!!!
G money is mad that people are being creative smh
At about an hour in, russ talked about bring able to shift the color of the design on procreate with some sliders, idk how to look up that concept. Can onyone help point me in the direction of this info on how to do that? To render pieces in different colors by adjusting sliders?? Thanks!!! Loved the episode!
You do this with your Hugh saturation and brightness settings
Is “last rights” a Skinny Puppy reference or just a synchronicity? Either way kinda cool
Having the patron call in was cool. Would be sick if you guys did live episodes every now and then taking questions and comments from the masses.
Absolutely! A lot of new things coming up for the next year.
I'm good friends with 2 of the guys from Poland. Actually got tattooed by one of them, he's my inspiration to get into the industry!!
I absolutely love this show!!!
Congrats on 100 episodes!!! 👏 You guys are amazing🤩 Here's to the next 100‼
Death before realism
Capobianco was the sickest, Bulldog and Gunnar was really good too.
Best tattoo podcast.
I met Paul in hell city in ohio, awesome guy. It was surreal to meet someone i watched since 94.
In addition to the museum you should take the NYC tattoo history tour that Michelle does ....see if she'll let you film some of it and share it with the viewers
Congrats on the 100 episodes. That would be cool to drop into shops. Would be cool to see how other shop run and hear stories . Would be cool calling it something like “Shop Invaders”😂 Congrats again
Awesome video guys. Happy 100th episode! I’m a Patreon supporter and I would love an opportunity to call into your show. I’m an aspiring artist working as a scratcher putting a portfolio together to look for a mentor. But I’ve got a ton of questions about breaking the ice and searching for a mentor
I'll keep it 100....Richie Bullldog was the best episode ever. One Hunnned....LES 6th Boro
Tiffer is goated
Old head in the black t shirt is mad annoying… he sounds bitter because the times have left him in the past and he relied on old tactics for too long.
Congratulations to you guys , been here since episode 5 !! Re watched all to current !! Good job guys
I listen to yalls podcast while i work and yalls tips do help
Thanks so much for supporting the show!
@honesttattooerpodcast your welcome, at the moment I'm teaching myself on fake skins to tattoo which are on my community page and 8 years ago I went for an apprenticeship for 6 months and then life got in the way. Came back to it because I love working with people and the art of tattooing and bringing a great memory to people even if it is juat designing it for them.
First! Yeah! Congrats for all the work you've done and can't wait for the next 100 episodes!🤘🤘🤘if you guys manage to get Mr Filip LEU on the podcast you'd be my heroes! Cheers from France!
Thanks so much! We will try, he's one of the most influential tattoo artists ever, it would be amazing to have him on the show.
Absolutely fantastic chat!! I could have listened for another 2 hours easy! Future guest wish list ; Flaks32G, Carlos Macias (Cryptic Tattoo) and Big Sleeps please.
It’s just really, really fun to tattoo and draw. On my opinion. You just turn your brain off and let loose. Flow state similar to when I draw Japanese finger waves actually, but there are no rules so everything is much more loose
Cheap tattoos aren't good. Good tattoos aren't cheap. rip Miller Cotton
The body is a temple, im just here to paint the walls. rip Miller Cotton
My first piece was from tattoo mania in 92. Got my second one there two weeks later. Those were good times.
Amo y señor de la tinta oscura
I apprenticed under Gill at Tattoo Mania, back in the 90's. Fuk'n love that man and miss the hell out of his funny ass . If you ever read this, Monte, this is Johnny Boi. Hit me up brother.
Wierd he didn't mention my aunt or uncle Billy and Robbie Eason. I remember Paul coming to Richmond VA for the Richmond tattoo arts festival and staying at their house and Hanging out at Red Dragon tattoo around 92-94
Amazing interview fellas! Paul is el jefe!
IT'S ALL THE SAME LIKE TATTOOERS USED TO 🛹🔜🔚⬇️⬆️ GRAFFITI 😅🙏🖕🙏
The tattoo fight club thing sounds so fun. I make my shop play “ink master” sometimes. We pick a random subject and random style from a jar and see who’s comes out the best. I feel like activities like that keep you on your toes because even though we’re all different artists we still need to push ourselves to be better or to step outside of our comfort zone. This one one of the reasons I could never be a single artist in a private studio. I love community.
