  • This is a tutorial video on how to do a Acid Etch and Stonewash modification on your pocket knife! I had a lot of fun doing this and will be doing more stonewash videos in the future.

Dit is redelik maklik eks seker jy sal hom mooi kan mod. Maar ek hou ook van die satin finish op die nebula. Wag dalk tot hy n paar lekker krap merk op het dan maak jy hom weer mooi

A few tips from a few failed stone washes:
    1) use a decent nail polish. I've had some nail polish types that became like rubber and just lifted off the blade and acid got under the polish.
    2) clean the blade or parts with dish soap and then pure acetone or rubbing alcohol coz some things like nail polish removers or sanitizer have vitamin E oils and things in to prevent skin from drying, the oils remain on the blade leading to problem 1.
    3) stick to smaller stones. 8-12mm work well.
Then I've read that multiple dips of 1-2 min each will give a darker etch and not so deep texture than a single dip of 15min.
Then check out Kyle Royer's coffee etching where he soaks a blade overnight in warm instant coffee and gets a black etch which makes a mirror when coated in carnauba wax. Amazing hand made knives.
