I’ve always used Q-tips for the little tiny cracks and crevices works every time! 😊
Me too, and if you don't have q-tips, use an ice pick with a cloth over it. I use my ice pick for tight spots often. It is sharper than a q-tip and gets into those teeny tiny corners. I hate cleaning window and sliding door tracks but they get filthy.
Like the corners we see in video?🦇
Used incense sticks with a bit of paper towel over the end (or not) are great, too.
Q tips, skewers with paper towel, anything with a point works really well for those little corners.
Toothbrush to the rescue again - the single most important cleaning tool in the history of humankind!
Mascara wand works great for those tight corners 😊
@leonadaly3520 Great tip! Thank you!
I already do this, thought there would be something new.
Q-tips for the corners to finish the job...👍
For the hard to clean corners a set of dental picks / scrapers work good.
I would dry vacuum first, and then clean. Cutting into a sponge to fit the tracks will clean it (wet the sponge after slicing it). Then use a small child’s toothbrush to get into the corners.
Thank you for the tip of starting out with a DRY area and using a toothbrush and then vacuuming before proceeding. I’ve always just started spraying cleaner and I’ve never been able to get corners clean. Very helpful. ❤
Happy to help
Keeping it dry is the secret and if you don’t have the vacuum attachment, use a dry angled paintbrush to dislodge the dirt as you suck it up
I use a flat head screw driver or paint scraper for the corners.
For corners, use a small brush, to remove dirt after spraying detergent. Then wrap a wooden sharp chopsticks with paper towel or rag and clean the corners.
I use a steamer. Blasts the dirt out of all the corners very quickly.
After scraping and dry vacuuming, I use my own mix of Krud Cutter, Baking Soda and a little Dawn mixed with water. Put in a spray bottle, spray on liberally, then let it sit for 10 minutes....then tooth brush scrub. Then I vac with my wet/dry vac, before wiping down with clean rags.
I just use Lysol wipes, gets it clean. Do it every other week, the dirt is not so bad
I lay a folded towel over the inside window threshold and blast away with an electric pressure washer (much lower power and volume than a gas powered one) from the inside of the the window pointed outside. All the crevices get cleaned. One towel is good for 4-6 windows depending on how much air is blowing from the outside to the inside and how dirty the tracts are. Don't forget to blast the undersurface of the bottom of the window. There is usually a rubber seal that gets very dirty. If there is a horizontal channel along the bottom that is mostly covered except on the ends, you can clean the the whole channel from one end with the pressure washer as well.
Ohhhh been waiting for this one a while!!!!! Thank you so much!!!! ❤ I've been busier this summer so I need to catch up on some CWC videos!!! So happy you made this one. I know I have asked for it a few times 😁
Happy to help!
Take a used drier sheet or two and get it in there it picks up the dirt better. Then go in with cleaner and a toothbrush.
You could get the skinny part with swabs with alcohol.
I use a toothbrush and do a dry run on it first with a shop vac. It's amazing how much dirt comes off. Anything remaining I spray a solution on, let it soak briefly, then wipe it clean.
Love this! Thank you!
you are welcome
I do all of this and I also finish with a spray of rain x or some kind of water repellant. It helps the debris to just slide away.
Vacuum then use tire polish spray foam.
My window tracks get so gross. But I hate opening the windows with all the bug corpses suspended by cobwebs
If you live in a townhouse up stairs what do you recommend on cleaning the windows
Does this also work on sliding closet door tracks?
Ugh 😩 like 20 windows in the house.
I appreciate your cleaning skills
thanks, glad you are finding the videos valuable!
@@CleanWithConfidence those areas are harder to clean and not many videos on this
great video thanks for the tips!:)
you are welcome!
Awesome! Thank you! :)
You are welcome
a small paintbrush as well
I clean the window tracks once a week. I use ammonia and water, flush the corners with the spray until it’s almost dirt free. Unless you lift the windows out of the tracks, the corners will never be immaculately clean.
Wow, once a week?
Yeah, once a week?!
Once a year works for me.
I missed the part where you recommend Crest or Colgate. We use Aqua Fresh, will that work?
These are great tips. I follow a similar method but I use an old paintbrush and brush the loose dirt off. Toothpicks also work great to scrape dirt from the crevices and corners.
you are welcome
Just use a sport water bottle to flush out the dirt and debris. Water will drain out those bottom slits. Use a sponge to aid the process and pick up any excess water but doesn’t have to be perfectly detailed like a Ferrari.
Top 👏👏👏
I actually thought you had a sure fire method!
Thank you! Hey how about the foggy spots on bathroom mirrors that never go away? Not after a shower or bath but looks like they are just there to stay. I've tried all I know to get it off of there. Half my mirror I cannot use at this point, just looks like cloudy and foggy.
You are welcome! I made a video specifically about that. Here it is: th-cam.com/video/HhKxHkjww8o/w-d-xo.html
A high pressure garden hose works great, as long as the wife isn’t home at the time.
Small steam cleaner , then wet vac to suck up dirt.
I needed this; my slider door runners are out of control 😂
I feel you🙂
They’re the hardest to keep clean.
if my windows is on the second floor how can i pop the windows screen and put it back on from the inside?
Mansplanning ! I have been cleaning the windowsill's for 60 years! 😂
well some of us didnt have anyone to teach us, so we appreciate it
I always suck all the bugs up first & then tackle the grime
Thank you
You are welcome
This is probably my least favorite chore, but using the vacuum with the brush attachment looks like a good idea. I usually try to do it with the dustbuster which doesn't really work all that well.
🙂
I use an old electric toothbrush.
Just curious as to what is the hard way. Based on the title, I thought there was an EASIER way than this, which is the only way I’ve ever known to clean them.
The hard way is just to start wiping them with a wet cloth before vacuuming first. Then you end up going back and forth rinsing the cloth out and it takes forever trying to get all the trash out.
Just use a steamer with a nozzle or brush.
Where is that brush vac you used to buy ? What is the name of it?
It's a backpack vacuum. Here is a video I made about it: th-cam.com/video/4w-ySXFKCXU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_bAUuI9NQRYXtc5h
"Use You"
IE: elbow grease !
I feel bamboozled
😆
The corners were left still dirty! Use either Q-tips, wooden skewers or a nail cleaning tool…..My 2 cents from a clean freak! Great job otherwise….👏🏼👏🏼
Here's my advice, don't let it get so dirty. Just a little bit of effort every few weeks makes the job easier.
We moved into a rental that was filthy. The stress of the move and caring for my daughter battling ovarian cancer, has done me in, too. We have been here 3 months, I have been too ill and have torn tendons due to cleaning and packing the last time and today I received the dreaded email about a house inspection. I am so stressed, I just want to cry but instead, I will let my family sleep without the worry of the inspection and fight the awful agency tomorrow. Regulations say they have to give me 7 days notice but they always give me 2. How they run a successful business is beyond me. Actually, it's good, reliable tenants like me who pay on time always that make the difference. I should be valued instead of being judged. Home owners, count your blessings that you don't have to go through this. At 72, I am too old for this stress. But, as usual, somehow, I will get it done.
Just cleaned my windows, is to much work you do , you can buy a brush made for the track you just scrap the dirt and vacuum and you done and it is very clean
You think after using the toothbrush to clean the window tracks you think it's ok to use the toothbrush to brush my teeth afterwards?
If it cleaned the window tracks good, it should probably clean your teeth good too.
Yes it will clean your teeth, and don't forget to floss
@@TheMoneyMakingMentor great advice...I'll pass I think
That's gross ... throw the toothbrush away, or keep it for other dirty jobs, but dont reuse on your teeth!
@@marilynmckay3508 how about using bleach to clean it first before I use it?
Man up, dudes. Pressure washer!
How is that easy ???
You should not tell them to use the vacuum if they spray something wet it is not good to use the vacuum on wet items. It will ruin the vacuum.
He didn’t. The vacuum is step 2. Spraying the cleaner was step 3.
Ah man, he’s using a lot of elbow grease. Might increase climate change. Good demo anyway.
Have you ever used Dirtex they sell it at Home Depot used to be in the paint section a few years ago people found out how great it worked are when do you go online and buy it you can find it for like four hours I can but you see people trying to sell two cans for $25 sometimes more than that because it works so good you can actually buy it by the box and mix it up yourself I never did that my wife was driving home from work one night and the temperature was changing so I was getting colder out from the summertime so the spider was in her truck why she was driving home from work she went off drove it to the closest store to target or Walmart because she works like an hour away from home and got a can of bug spray and she had that stuff all over the windows on the inside of the truck I want to have their Windex and paper towels and I am spraying the windows and trying to clean it off and it was just smearing but I use the Windex a few times to get as much Windex after windows I mean as much bug spray of the windows as I could then I sprayed the dirt Tex and when that stuff sprays it comes out like a mist leave it sit on the window for like 30 seconds 40 seconds then you wipe it off you probably have to do it a few times and then that gets the bug spray off the windows because that stuff is great and then after that I will clean it with the Windex and that’s how you can tell us all the bug spray is off
No like I use Windex and I get those nice paper towels the Vivid I will clean the windows with Windex at first but then I use the third text on the the window frame all that what you’re cleaning up there the actual windows then you fold them down and when you spray that stuff on you leave it sit for 30 seconds 40 seconds sometimes a little longer you will have to do it a few times but you will be amazed how great it works i’ve never used anything like that stuff and believe me I use the purple power used to use simple green when I power wash my house I put like a cup full of the purple power in a 5 gallon bucket with Dawn soap I make 3 buckets at a time like I know good stuff to use but that their tax I’ve never used nothing like it there’s nothing like it
That works good to clean the tracks but why don't you finish the video and show how to clean the corners!!
That’s my biggest dilemma
I am literally doing this now..... what worked for the corners for me:
1st- use a safety pin and scrape out as much dirt as possible with the needle point,
2nd- use a toothbrush to bring it to the center of window sill
3rd- suction it up with the vacuum suction thingy 😂🥴 keep repeating until you're satisfied....
Then when cleaning . ...use a wet washcloth and a knife as a stick in the washcloth to guide and clean in the crevices
I hope I explained it right
I pour water in mine and wash it out all out down the drain hole. Way easier than this LOL.
For the corners i used Q-tips
A paint brush (or a makeup brush) with short bristles enables manoeuvring the bristles into the corners.
Hope this helps
