  • In this video I install a Tesla Style PX6 12" Android Head unit into my Landcruiser 200 Series. I purchased this from EC Offroad at full price and you will get a warts and all record of the installation process, and it was not without drama!
    The video provides step by step instructions for the disassembly of the dash in my Landcruiser 200 Series and can be used as a reference for anyone looking to install a radio, maps or entertainment unit into their own LC200.
    This video is a follow on video from my Antenna Installation video. If you have not seen that click the link below and check it out.
    • Antenna bracket instal...
    Also, I will road test this Tesla style unit over the coming weeks and record a final video on my thoughts on its performance so be sure to check back for that one.
    Thanks to Cale Wells from EC Offroad who was instrumental in helping me sort out the issues I have had.
    I cut these videos in my spare time and receive no kickbacks or income for doing so. If you value what I put together here please leave a thumbs up, a comment, or best of all subscribe to my channel.
    The more encouragement I get from you, the viewer, the more it fuels my fire to keep making these videos.
    Keep the shiny side up everyone, cheers!

    I had similar issues with my android system, not purchased from east coast offroad but elsewhere. After a lot of messing around, and the realization that you need to be a software engineer to achieve what you want, I decided to get a replacement unit locally and all has been fantastic in VW amarok.
    Great units once the teething issues are sorted.

    had a similar problem in my gx.. same unit, but bought from a different source. not in Australia.
    must say, the company did try everything to help me out.. sent a new canbus, even sent a tool to get the readings from my air con control... end story... they refunded my money and told not to worry about sending the unit back...

      Thanks for sharing your story Dale, I sincerely appreciate it. Seems to me this is a common theme. Some love it with no dramas, some can’t stand it and end up ripping it out, and some live with glitchiness. I trust I will be in the first camp but time will certainly tell. At least you had a decent customer service experience, that’s gotta count for something. Thanks again for sharing Dale😎👍

    Great video as usual Terry, nice job!
    I love those big Tesla style units despite getting different opinion from various forums and FB groups.
    Apparently they are very capable and fully customizable but not enough customizable to be able to run a much simpler air con system like the GX, go figure!
    What I like the most is the split screen option, it should be like having two units.
    I'll be looking forward on your next review video as I highly value your opinion.
    BTW I don't have that glitch on my VMS4x4 system.
    Thanks

      Thanks for watching and commenting Max, I certainly appreciate your wisdom and support. Unreal that they can’t control a GX climate unit, I 😎did not know that. Glitches are funny aren’t they, one person can have a drama and the next has never had a one, go figure! I have only scratched the surface with this unit but the “customisability” seems pretty awesome. I’ll post up how I get on in the coming weeks. 👍

    I bought a different head unit from EC off road. They blamed me and were most unhelpful. Their support could be described as casual ignorance with an attitude. Never again. Soooo many stories on the forums of buggy, glitchy products with no support. Nice video as usual Jaffa.

    Thank you for the video and sharing your issues on the unit. I bought mine for 2013 Lexus IS 250 in US. Unit works great but a couple glitches on wifi connectivity and weird random radio station switching, with a pop up window that says "search forward". Contacted the Company in Shenzhen, not email back. Have co-workers in HL and Shenzhen so we'll see if I can get help. Otherwise the unit works great!

      Your information @@JafffaAdventures is a true diamond. This week we viewed two 2010/2011 Land-cruisers with the big "tesla-esque" headset and one with the original radio, Toyota/Lexus - are super-reliable at 10-13 years old. The only issue is the "dated" GPS and dated lack of mobile phone synchronisation. We all live by "Wayze" navigation here. Thus if it can ever work - it will be a true game changer. The big-screen units I saw had Landcruiser logos/images. But there was no proof that all the configurations work. Both car dealers - said that these screens needed another re-setting. The dream is to have proper 360 degree cameras working and to have this massive screen to have full Wayze AND Google-maps options. We shall see over the next month. We live in a country with excellent mechanics. So we will see,....

    Great video, Terry. Thank you for easy-to-observe camera angles and the time it took to setup and edit. My decision to get one will be based largely on your findings. Great video Terry, did have a chuckle with the set up. Glad you got there in the end. Will be good to see how it performs over time. What are the gauges you have on top of the unit?

    • @JafffaAdventures
      @JafffaAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching and commenting Scott, I sincerely appreciate it. I had to have a chuckle as well mate, otherwise I would have cried😂. The gauges on top of the unit are EGT’s, left one for the left bank, right one for the right bank. I just bought the gauge pod off eBay. It was for round gauges so I had to fill in the round holes then cut out rectangular ones for my temp gauges. I then bonded the pod to that Toyota top cover, bogged up the seams and shot it with a matt colour that closely resembles the dash. I think I go into a little detail on it in my Rig Rundown Interior video. Cheers😎👍

    Nice video as usual
    I’m one up on you my temp indicator works
    I had a real drama trying to get the unit to link to my iPhone hot spot but it turned out it was me not the unit
    I hate it when I can’t blame someone else
    What did you use to customise the screen photos
    My next drama is my aircon temp resets itself to 25deg so I have to crank it down every time I start up so hopefully I can sort that out cause it makes me tense everytime

    • @JafffaAdventures
      @JafffaAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Gavin, you are very kind mate. The OBDII connection does not have as much data as the scanguage (eg fuel consumption is missing), although having said that the majority of the information is there and the stuff missing might be able to be found, I just have not looked hard enough. I much prefer the scanguage however and will definitely be keeping it. That’s because it’s mounted on the dash right in front of my eyes and is constantly in my vision. Using the head unit, I have to turn my head to read it and if I have an app open I have to minimise the app to see the data. Not a big deal but it’s enough for me. Good question mate, thanks for asking 😎👍

      I sorted our my volume issue so passing on info you may not be aware of on yours, especially for future preference. In the factory settings on head unit once you put in password. If wasn't for him I would of upgraded amp again and problem would of been the same, so thank God he saved my ass.

      That’s a bummer Ruben, unfortunately I did not have the issue so am not really sure what the problem is. Is the volume the same from blue tooth through your phone for example vs Spotify on the head unit, vs a radio station. The reason I ask is that sometimes Bluetooth can be a little quieter, especially if you are streaming from a device like a phone and your volume is turned down on the phone. Too funny Jim, yes there were times. I must admit (and it sounds corny) but when I do hit roadblocks like in the video I kinda get excited because I know my brain is working hard searching for a solution. Thanks for watching and commenting mate, I sincerely appreciate it 😎👍
