  • In East London, entrepreneur Lorraine finds the new family dynamic a shock, making her determined to make her market stall a success. Adam finally receives good news and Donna has a trial at a local salon.
Three long-term families dependent on benefits are given a cash handout of 26,000 each, the current maximum yearly benefit cap for most families. In return, the families must agree to sign off benefits, and see if one large cash sum can turn their lives around for good.
The experiment asks the families to use the money in a way that can positively change their circumstances, make them happier and ultimately remove them from the benefit system. However, there are no strings attached and contributors will make their own decisions, spend money as they want but with the knowledge that they've given up their lives on benefits, and there's no more to come.
Will the families be able to grasp this extraordinary opportunity or will the temptations of a large sum of money in their bank account distract them from their good intentions of building a business or finding work?

and it was obvious the tv show producers were not happy with their pragmatic approach by encouraging them to spend more money when they didn't really need to. To be fair they didn't need the handout, but i think the producers want them to splurge.

This has give me the motivation to try and hopefully start a business again. I did used to have my own wax melt business which was doing OK. But I became ill after developing progressive MS which has now left me been unable to work and on disability. If I can find something I can do from home where I can just be sat down as my hands and arms arn't too bad it would be amazing. I did try selling seeds which I harvested from all my home grown veg and fruit last year as I could just be sat down packing them and having my partner send them for me. But I was only getting about £200 a month and maby £50 most after summer had gone which is not enough to sustain me. Plus I cannot grow as much as I used to as going round the garden in a wheelchair I can only get to certain parts of the garden which means I am limited with space. I REALLY want to be able to do something again as I HATE just been stuck not doing much at home as I cannot go out unless my partner takes me out and we have 3 children 2 of which are also disabled so it makes it so difficult. I'm going to do some research and see what type of things I can or can't do. I want to be able to show my children that even if you have challenges that nothing can stop you achieving your dreams or things and that you can find new ways of doing things. I also tried streaming at one point as I like gaming when my hands arn't too bad but with 3 children running around that also made that difficult as I don't want them to be shown or herd on the Internet because of safety reasons. Maby in time we may be able to convert the loft into an extra room for one of the children so that I can use one of their current bedrooms to do something like that. There is always options ans I'm determined not to give up :)
