The horses are finally going to get their winter fluffs! I haven't watched the full video yet, but I hope you're recovering from your fall and that you're doing better! Also, thank you for always making these videos!! I think it brightens up the days of a lot of us, so thank you!
Absolutely gorgeous video Meg!! All the shots were great, especially the aerial ones 😊 I love the b-roll shots of the ponies in the pastures as well, so so pretty! The new cameras were definitely worth it!
I love feeding routine videos; even if we don’t feed the same type of feed available here. Our winters are so different, it’s already around 4 degrees here (it was actually -2 this morning!) About the water, we have water heater to either put inside the water tub or at my yard, we have automatic water with heater; so our water is always warm during winter
Football in the water (not a heavy leather one I use like a kids version) I was told tennis balls but I was worried they’d think they were apples and try and eat them 🤦🏻♀️. It still freezes but there’s a gap where the ball has been or more if they’ve been drinking a lot and moving the ball about. It’s then really easy to lift the ice out in in one piece. Loved this, I’m a big pure feed advocate too x x
It is interesting how different people manage their horses. Mine are out 24/7 and expect to be out all the time over winter with a 2 paddock rotation. They have a bail of Haylage perminantly in their field, and access to natural shelter.
Loving the turmeric - helped our dog with arthritis more than metacam. Also top tip - the turmeric powder heals blisters SO quickly!! Also seen it used topically for horsey issues!! Great vlog Meg!x
We went to a yard that takes in old horses and ponies and gives them a nice retirement and they told us how they keep most of the horses on just hay and grass, it was so impressive how much effort, time and money they put into keeping the horses.. they also have a hUUGGEE paddock paradise and a lot of fields, they rotate when the horses go where based on how fast they gain weight and their teeth so they all get turnout
Oh My Goodness Meg, Look at the size of Ettie she is growing so fast, that is incredible. I would definitely say that she is going to be much bigger than her Mum. In the summer she is really going to be the prettiest shade of gold. When the time comes for you to back her and show her she really is going to be something to see. Take good care of yourself and I hope that all of your injuries are resolving themselves after your fall with Jam Jam, and she is all better too. Jane 👍😎🐴🐎🧑🏻🦰
As she looks out for everyone's horses I thought id do the same back! (this is positive by the way!) I had the same issue with my two not drinking in the winter and getting colic especially my mare that you have had so thought id share what I have found works to get them to drink. So every winter I give them flavoured water one 10 gallon of apple juice flavour, I put 1 cartoon of apple in the bucket and one 10 gallon of mint flavoured water where I put a whole packet of sugar free extra strong mints in boiling water till they have melted then pour it in the bucket. I also leave them a normal bucket of water that barely gets touched all winter. They drink the normal amount now and I have not had one colic incident since and I haven't used electrolytes since either! I also break some salt lick off and put it in the water, it stops it from freezing and gets salt into them!
I started feeding Pure Fibre Balance earlier in the year based on your recommendation - it's worked really well for my horses. I did not know about Pure Calm and Composed, I have one chap who might benefit from that, thank you. Silvermoor is fantastic - can't get it easily down here in Sussex but when I move back North I will be feeding it again. Excellent vlog as always. x
It's really good to see that you are doing the same kind of routine with your horses that I am doing with mine. I've only had my 2 boys for a year and a half or so now but its always a worry that you don't know what you are doing for certain seasons and look for information that tells you that you are doing it all wrong haha Thanks Meg for making me believe I am doing right by my boys.
Grass doesn’t have much nutrition in the winter so it’s best to feed hay and a good quality feed summer there fine to have grass and a hay net over night that’s if there grazing out through the day x
I have 4 shetlands who refuse to wear rugs but their coat gets so thick they don't need them! I always netted my hay but I may try putting it on the floor instead this year!
Oh my gosh Ettie is looking like a proper pony. She’s growing out of babyhood!! How many hands is she now and what can you predict her adult hight to be? Such a little wild girl. Do you add any supplements to Bear and Brinni’s feed? They look gorgeous growing babies!!!
I love how Meg looks out for everyone’s horses and will tell us why😊

Agree!

It was so nice seeing all your wonderful ponies! And Ettie has grown so much!

in America we use big 15 gallons - 100 gallon water buckets. cleaned and refilled daily!
I love watching what everyone else feeds. My horse loves pure feed and suits him well
I feed my horse Pure after watching your videos Meg. It’s an amazing feed and I love it and it’s also a fantastic price

Bear‘s side eye at the camera😂lovely to see all of the ponies and the drone shots are so cool! I really enjoy yard routine videos!
I Love this type of Vlog. thanks for sharing your horsey life with us xo
I use the grass blocks for my mare too I hang it above her door so it keeps her entertained 😂
Ettie is getting so big now🥺
Ettie has grown so much, how big do you think she will be in the end? Do you give extra feed or different feed to the pregnant mares?
Here in the US double check USEF rules for any supplement that are illegal for competition. What is FEI acceptable sometimes does NOT crossover.
I loved the overhead footage of the buckskin ladies - they are looking quite THICK. I can’t believe how big Ettie is now.
Grass doesn’t have much nutrition in the winter so it’s best to feed hay and a good quality feed summer there fine to have grass and a hay net over night that’s if there grazing out through the day x
