You may find the last chapter of Laurie Lee's book 'As I walked out one Midsummer Morning' of interest. His concerns about the Spanish border guards were slightly different to yours as Spain was in the grip of the civil war back then. A few years later the Spanish side of the Pyrenees would have been a welcome sight for downed British airmen escaping to Gibraltar.

Amazing camera shots. It's indeed a spectacular place like the whole Pyrenees. I've taken the same border crossing by car once dring up from the Spanish side into France. The border is right at the highest point of the mountain pass. I couldn't tell which side I prefer. I think the Pyrenees count as a whole no matter whether you are in Spain, France or Andorra. It also makes a difference whether it's the central, western or eastern part if the mountain range. The highest mountains are right there in the central part. If there is a certain difference between the French and the Spanish Pyrenees, then it's mainly due to being Spain in the southern part being dryer, more rugged and somehow often wilder, landscape brownish and olive green whereas the French side tends to be greener with more grass green fields but you'll find wild creeks and abundant forest on both sides and changes can be smooth. Speaking French and Spanish (or even Catalan) helps a lot. People appreciate the effort. By the wat the pronunciation of the town's names = Banyeer de Lüshong and Bossóst.

Nop just passport and bike docs.
