Regardless of whether you are left or right wing, both sides can agree that the current migrant/refugee crisis is a problem.
The difference in labels is how you solve the problem.
Forming lynch mobs that attempt to burn down mosques and asylum seekers hotels is a far right solution to the problem.

@@s10jamhere in San Diego, we’ve got lots of international tourists, and many come through on cruise lines, so the Marina District downtown is impeccable at all times. Before urban camping became illegal, the city sent all the homeless to East Village where I live. In no time, all the sidewalks became unusable; you’d have to walk in the center of the street to go anywhere. Now that the anti- urban camping bill passed, the cops have been shuffling them off to nearby towns, and now their townsfolk are complaining loudly about it. It’s all too bad because, where do all these tent people go? They just get shuffled everywhere till they od in their tents. At one point, we were losing 30 urban campers a WEEK! It’s tough out there.

I’m just saying they are Romanian Gypsies, not just Romanians. Please make that distinction next time because I am Romanian, and I have lived here since 2012, when we Romanians were allowed to come legally and work. Nowadays, they can’t come anymore without a visa, and it’s hard to get one-you need a job offer to come. I have never stolen or begged for money. I graduated from a university here and make over 50k a year. I feel absolutely humiliated by this video and can’t compare myself to these people in any way.
They are lying shamelessly. The minimum salary in Romania is 700 euros, and taxi or Uber drivers, as well as construction workers, can easily earn 1,000 euros per month, minimum. The problem with them is that they don’t want to work. I assume their plan is actually to get council housing from the government, then work for a week, claim they can’t continue working, and apply for Universal Credit. That’s what they really want, not to work

I do however think that the Roma ...like all other travelling communities and the homeless population in general deserve respect like everyone else. There has to be a meeting in the middle where travellers can live their lives without disrupting the communities they settle in, whilst being open to accept facilities that are offered to them and contribute back into the mainstream society that offers support in the first place. The problem is not going to go away ... either here or in Romania ...so demonising them as many people do is just people wasting their energy. I don't think British people are able to make that clear distinction. It really doesn't matter what anyone is or where they have come from, some of the British citizens want our hard earned taxes to first place British people in accommodation, not people who come here illegally on boats, because we cannot accommodate that kind of expenditure and have a fair social system for housing, education, benefits for those who are in need.. healthcare..we need people migrating here to be able to speak English and work. I used to work in Northampton town centre for 7 years looking after people like this 5 days a week. Let me say, Northampton is very 'multicultural', the majority of the town centre is, Turkish, Albanians, Romanians, Jamaican, Polish and before I left a lot more Nigerian/South African. And ofcourse, English. A bit of insight before I get to the main story. Apologies if I bore.
A new state of the art Homeless shelter was built 5 years ago just outside the town centre to help those in need. However, you needed £17 to stay there, for a night. There's a church house coffee shop in the town centre with a small green area. Filled with homeless tents. A lot of the homeless were either Polish or Romanian. Loads of beggars on the streets and drug addicts, even more so now. The main town centre street is full of tents or bedding, in shop alcoves. In the centre of the town, there's a big market square, and this was the centre part of the town where everyone would congregate. As like most dying town centres now, this area is made up of Fast food takeaway places, 24 hour Cashinos (even more so now) & 5+Betting shops all within a few steps of eachother. The homeless' Romanians and others, frequent these type of places. Working in this market place, I got to know many of these people and their issues and wellbeing. I'd say now, 90% of the thousands of people I got to know were there illegally. One Romanian guy after knowing him for a bit of time, openly admitted he was smuggled over in the back of a lorry and was only here for the free health care and free housing and it becomes apparent that they are all fully aware of this over in their countries and it's one of their first goals on upbringing to come over here and exploit it. I did deal with mainly Romanians and Albanians I have to say. I don't remember not meeting one who didn't have a bad attitude or wasn't aggressive. And they all love gambling. I forget, can they not gamble in their country? Any money earned was either lost in the Cashinos or betting shops. Recently Northampton have just opened up another 24hr Cashino.. so you can tell where the real problems are laying because it's similar across the country. There are 9 gambling shops I can think of that are a 1 minute walk apart from each other.
I knew a man called Robert. Polish. Very friendly. He'd been living on the streets of Northampton for over 6 years. He used to sleep in a public toilet every night right in the middle of the town centre. It was £1 to enter it, so he'd beg every day for food, money, to get back to his toilet at the end of the day. Which he used to keep locked from the inside till morning. He gave 'his' toilet to someone else one night in 2019 and slept on the street outside the bookies, where he was kicked to death by a random drunken yob. I'd had enough and moved to Devon just before lockdown, to be closer to family who live down here. And I tell you, I'm seeing a lot more similar patterns increasing down here. Torquay and Paignton never had a beggar in sight 5+ years ago...lets just say that has risen. And a Ladbrokes down here has just had their machines smashed in by a Romanian the staff had never seen before. Newly moved.
In terms of illegal immigration. The general public have been asking for this to decrease and put a stop to it for decades. Buts its not happened, its increased not decreased. There are alot of angry people out there, and rightly so i'd argue. But what is going to change?

I’m sorry to say but it comes down to our government not being involved with the US agenda on creating refugees in the first place.
Everything g you said boils down to the elite lining their pockets and over the years completely depleting the infrastructure that a city and country requires. The UK is a mess due to the very people in Green Park who use offshore banks and don’t pay taxes.
This guy who does journalism I don’t think has bad intentions and I understand he’s seen a rise in viewers and likes so naturally will continue to create these videos but with the greatest of respect it’s very surface level journalism.
It’s odd that he had his girlfriend terrified at a riot who clearly wasn’t British and he states that being in Middlesbrough was crazy and yet again he’s back at surface level journalism. Just look at the comment section. It’s kindling once again for more riots in the future without getting the real issue which divides us.
Not left and right but the 1% pulling the strings and making sure we blame each other while we all suffer.
Billionaires aren’t made without creating extreme poverty…

No immigrant who becomes legal is voting Tory, so Tories have no excuse for not dealing with it because they know that, however they were at least trying to do something but no where near enough, but if you had been paying attention, Labour constantly tried to block their immigration solutions, why?...because when immigrants become legal they vote Labour, thus keeping Labour in power for longer, there is your agenda. Labour will NEVER try to stop illegal immigration, they want the people in so as to have a stronger voting base.

They are gypsies, and gypsies come from different countries, and they migrate to the countries where they can make the most money from begging or stealing. They are a minority in any of the countries from Europe, including Romania, because they migrated there long time ago, coming from India. And because these countries don't have anything more left for them, they migrate again to other places. As Wesley said, they are "travelers".

Poverty, destitution, crime, homelessness and drug addiction, all in the same space occupied by some of societies wealthiest people. There’s no way back from that point, the UK government need to get a handle on this before it is too late. Great impartial journalism.

These are gypsies (ethnic group from Eastern Europe) with Romanian citizenship. They are NOT ethnic Romanians. They don't even speak the Romanian language among themselves.
They were a massive issue for Romania in the 20th century and in the 2000s in the years leading up to the accession to the EU. Ever since Romania entered the EU and they could easily move abroad, they have been begging in Western European countries and claiming benefits.
In the years leading up to 2007 when Romania entered the EU, the western countries were criticising Romania for not handling the gypsy population properly and not giving them opportunities to get out of generational poverty. However, now that they have come to Western Europe, it shows that the western countries aren't any more capable in dealing with them than the Romanians were in the past. Funny how the situation has evolved.

    • @sigtavi6

Clarification, they are an ethnic group from India (lowest caste in their system), which has moved to Eastern Europe a few hundred years ago. I moved to Taiwan 20 years ago from the UK. We don't have this problem at all in Taiwan. Neither do they have it in Japan or as far as I am aware China. Because there is no welfare system and no possible means to land in Taiwan without a visa. If they did come they wouldn't get any free money or care because there is none to get. Even the locals barely get a penny if they are unemployed. If you are disabled in this country you basically have to beg on the street for cash. It is a hard system but one main benefit is that people can't/ don't flood in for all the free stuff they get in the UK.

I’m a social anthropologist, and a few years ago I had a colleague who carried fieldwork among a gypsy group in Italy. Their culture (aside from whatever murky business some groups might be involved in) is truly fascinating yet represents a staggering mismatch with ours that leads to obvious and undesirable conflict.
Never believe what gypsies tell you. NEVER. These communities are truly hermetic and hold information about their culture and beliefs to themselves, and they’ll always make up stories that are somewhat believable to get by.
In the UK they have the right to stay for 6 months without a visa, but they’re not allowed to apply for any paid work (legal work at least). Then after 6 months they move on to another country. They’re not interested in settling like these young lads said. They’re travellers, it’s embedded in their culture.
Therefore, I don’t believe when they say that some government officers have been to the camp to survey their situation and understand what kind of help they need (there’s actually no help to offer because they simply do not have the right to housing, benefits or employment). They’re legal tourists making money by begging and small (illegal) jobs they find through their own very large network.
What’s puzzling is that the police haven’t done anything to evict them…? They’d find another place to camp, but it’s no casualty that they’re doing it in a wealthy district.

It's a bit more blatant in Ireland. Publicly-funded "NGOs" buy tents all of the same brand and colour to give to anyone who shows up, even if he has a London accent, , they pitch tents for a few days that get taken down at public expense until it hapoens all over again or they get accommodation, at public expense, in a working-class neighbourhood or small village. If the government ever tries to deport anyone, they'll get sued by more publicly-funded NGOs. And dont get me started on the media, even formerly corporate media relying on state funding.
The minister responsible tweeting in several languages that they'll get their own place and how to apoly for asylum probably has something to do with the numbers quadrupling in a couple of years. Maybe the payments they get have something to do with it also.

Wesley, I deeply respect what you are doing but those people are not just ROMANIANS.
I am Romanian and I can't understand what they are saying - they speak their own language. They are part of the ROMA community.
I know it must be difficult to distinguish, but this is an important detail - especially now...
Also, these people do the same thing in Romania, they like living like this. As you can see they already know how to set up everything, they are professionals.
Funnily enough, they are quite well spoken in comparison to some of my workmates...
    *Edit*
I definitely know that my comment has been too succint. I want to make myself clear:
I do not believe people from the Roma community are all awful people, I have personally met so many amazing people that I love which happen to be members of the Roma community.
I also do not believe that Romanians are a group of amazing people, totally angelic and incredibly good - on the contrary: there are endless cases of Romanians being racist and outright disgusting: stealing, killing, raping - etc.
I am a proponent of pluralism, but that doesn't mean I cannot criticize any given society/nation/religious group for their conduit - including ROMANIANS.
In my previous comment I have said that these people are not Romanians when I should have said that they are not *just Romanians*.

They were born in Romania, they have not been socialised in Romania, but the same is the case in most Eastern European countries. So these are Romanian gypsies? Yes, they are Romanian Gypsies.

    • @alfredflorin4419
      @alfredflorin4419 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

Well, the discussion is definitely nuanced, but let me ask you a question: Would you call me English for being born in England?
What if, I can barely speak the language? I can totally speak a different language and my traditions are very different from yours... Would you still call me English?
This is what Romanians have to face on the regular. I am not trying to manipulate nobody's perception but in these troubling times we must learn to distinguish...
I met so many English people that have never heard of John Stuart Mill or C.S. Lewis, English people that think Shakespeare is boring in spite of never reading Shakespeare... Does that make me more "English" than them?
These sorts of things happen in Romania as well. I live in a neighborhood where a significant part of the community speaks a language I cannot understand and their Romanian is quite rudimentary - especially in pronunciation. But they come here using their Romanian passports and parade the fact that they are Romanians - doing it in order to spoil our image, because of the racism they face in Romania, which by all means I condemn.
And you know what is funny? Even Wesley is called a migrant by English people in his own videos, just because he doesn't look English.

Also, if you guys are really interested in knowing anything about the Roma people, a two second google search would be enough.

    • @godwotan
      @godwotan 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I did that, it seems Romania had the biggest Roma slave population in the Middle Ages. Then they failed to integrate them and actually killed them a lot in the Romanian part of the Holocaust, they were deporting Roma families in Transnistria and executing them, while the males of the same families were soldiers fighting in the war for the country. Then they got communism, and instead of helping them, they got forcefully moved to work colonies and forced into industry. This is not so bad as most Romanians got this treatment. Then the Communists fell and the entire 90s period was anti-Roma sentiment on steroids as if they were to blame for all the failures of the post-decembrist situation. Then they started leaving for europe and Romanians got angry cause they were making them look bad.
But you cannot deny they are a product of Romanian society, the same society that created me. Oh sorry, forgot to tell you I am Romanian, I have traced my ancestry 500 years using church records, and amongst those same records there were always gypsy families with the Romanians, not integrated of course, cause they were slaves. but living in the same society that prides itself on having cities like Cluj-Napoca with Pata-Rat near it. Do you know that Romanian authorities evacuated gypsy families from their houses in the city and moved them to makeshift houses in a garbage dump, all to build a theological school?! Then Romanian families were threatening to take their children out of schools because the gypsies were allowed to study there, cause we all know education is wrong.
If I am Romanian because I can trace my origins here so are they, fortunately, they were not all mass murdered in the Holocaust and they don't get to carve a slice of a country for themselves and call it gypsy-Israel. So they are Romanians, backed by origin and paperwork(passport and citizenship).

May I add also unlike most I only tried for one kid cause I could of coped and got blessed with twins of opposite sexs so I need a 3 bed for their sakes when teens come, unlike most I dodmt try play the system and have more kids then I could handle look after myself to just try get overcrowded and get a bigger place, anyways my chance of getting somewhere bidding is about 10% if I'm lucky so this is just so people know what's going on in England for some unfortunate people who achually needed a council house btw
