The idea of splitting character movement abilities into their own scripts is a cool idea, one that I have never used before. It is great to see people using different methods of code management - it is a good learning experience.
Thanks! Yeah I just find it so much easier to comprehend… plus it helps with adding features and bug fixing… if the dash is acting funny, the issue is 99% likely in the dash script! I used to have everything in one long script and it became way too chaotic!
I think some of the things that could improve are the animations and the life in your game. I know its still in development but having life in your game can improve the overall feeling the developer is mostly going for. Even the darkest place in hollow knight (deepnest) has life moving all around it. This can be from simple fireflies to rain and thunder destroying trees and lighting things on fire. Life is what gives the best games character. You want to give each area in your game a SPECIAL FEATURE so it stands out to the player. For example Greenpath in hollow knight has the area overflowing with green and everything interacts with each other. The animation is another key component to the best games. I suggest finding videos on youtube for animations in general. This doesn't need to be pixel art it can just be 2d art. Just work on a animation project every day or every other day. Make a commitment to draw a frog jumping or a ball bouncing. Great video and exited for more.
I love this! As someone who‘s planning to create a metroidvania of their own, I’m really excited to see how this game turns out. Side note, but I’ve seen a couple comments comparing this game to Hollow Knight. I wouldn’t sweat it too much, as the game will have more differentiating qualities as development continues and it looks amazing so far. However, I would recommend considering a gameplay mechanic that can make your game a more unique experience and change how players interact with the world, as well as considering worldbuilding and story as you design your levels. You’ve really inspired me and probably a lot of other people to create our own dream games, so keep it up and don’t let negative comments get to your head. That being said, it’s always great to take critical feedback!
I just only now found your channel, and I love metroidvanias! I'll have to watch your older videos to understand your game more, but it already looks super neat! I just had one little concern, I don't know if it's just me but I sometimes struggle to see Amber on screen, i feel like the character should have an outline, or more vibrant/bright/saturated colors to be able to locate the character easier on screen
Thank you for joining us! Thanks for the feedback!!! I'm actually going to be doing a visual rework in the coming weeks which should help with it. So hopefully that should fix any issues with seeing Amber :D
Thank you! I picked it up about two weeks ago and i managed to save what I estimate to be around 30 hours or so this far… and I’ve barely scraped the surface of all the features which I do plan to use so for £25 it’s more than worth it… the documentation for it is top notch too! Great for learning coding patterns as well
@@LazyTeaStudios I think the abilities's name needs to be more than enough for the player to understand what it does, so for me i would call the abilities "double jump" and "slam". But if you want name that is cooler than explicative what about "death's touch" ?
100% we actually just released a short yesterday showcasing some visual overhauls… I’d love to have your opinion if it’s has helped with the characters clarity!
here is feedback you didn't asked for: the video is very good, but i think the thumbnail is not clear enough and bloated try doing thumbnails like the youtuber TimBer (he makes the best devlog thumbnail i swear) 👍👍
No I appreciate the feedback thank you! I have seen their thumbnails and I really like them! I’ve removed a few elements from it now so hopefully it looks a little less bloated now! It is something I’m struggling with atm Tbf !
This is the most boring, generic looking MetroidVania I've ever seen... Are you capable of original thought or are you just going to regurgitate worn-out tropes and unimpressive visuals into a half-baked steam game? If you don't have any original ideas you might as well not make anything.
@@LazyTeaStudios I am the only person in the comment section giving constructive criticism. The rest are giving fake, overly enthusiast compliments. If you want to make another boring Hollow Knight clone (which you seem to) continue without paying attention to my comments. If you want to make something new, start actually coming up with ideas instead of vomiting played-out mechanics into your mediocre project.

Thank you so much!! 🧡
Yo the scotsman
I seriously cant wait for this game to come out, you have alot of talent and I love your work
Thank you so much! I’m aiming to have another demo out in the next month or so! Might not have to be too long to give it a go!
Some of the best pixel art and animation I've ever seen.
Thank you so much

you could also have the player emit a tiny bit of light in some darker areas

Love the colour scheme your going for!
The movement looks so much more fun now, good job!
Thanks! Just imagine some of these for seed running 😂 you’ll be stealing the world record back in no time 😉
@@LazyTeaStudios Wait did someone beat my 1:13 run lol
@@thee2121 I think Pegit did… or at least theirs was the most recent one I saw…
Love how the games coming out! Don’t let anyone stop you! Also some possible name ideas; The Splintering Slam or The Cutthroat Crash.
Thank you so much 🧡😅 and I’ll never stop! I’m too invested now! And I love the suggestions!
Love the editing and the game is looking amazing. Noice!

such a great journey 🥳
And we are still at the beginning! I cannot wait to see where well be in a year from now!
This game looks so cool
Thank you 🥰
i love it, tho amber does blend in to the environment a little much. besides that it looks awesome
Just wait for the new devlog that’ll come out either today or tomorrow… I’ve fixed that.. I’m a BIG way! 😉
I think a party ability would help the feel of combat
100% I’ll be adding a parry, block and multiple attack types to name a few things we plan to add 😄
I came from discord! Fantastic video :) btw, shadow slam could be cool :)
WOO! Great to have you here! Thank you so much! I do like the shadow theme i must say! something i can definitely continue with other abilities too!
i was thinking shadow slam too xD
Seems like we have a favourite so far then haha @@Murple57
Thunder ⚡ Slam
EPIC! ⚡️
@@LazyTeaStudios 🥳
@@LazyTeaStudios waiting for next video 😊
I noticed that lot of people are suggesting shadow slam it's great
And how about night smash 🌌✨🌌
Nice update, I am gonna take a look at "feel". How much time do you think it saved for you?

@@LazyTeaStudios Here's what chatGPT gave me: Shadow Blitz, Reaper's Descent, Eclipse Smash, Abyssal Annihilation, Umbral Havoc, Spectral Stomp, Stygian Rampage, Grim Grounder, Shadowfall Strike, Grimshade Crush, Midnight Obliteration.
I like the transitions between rooms but it seems a bit too long in my opinion
That’s fair, it’s easy enough to shorten that down! I’ll make an adjustment for the next devlog 😉
Awesome work!!!
In my humble opinion the character blends too much with the environment.

Why don't you call the slam "The Reaper's Grudge".
Ooooooo that’s an epic name!
btw i wanted to tell me u have really inspired me and I have decided to start my first game@@LazyTeaStudios

1:51 I suggest "Uninteresting & played out ability carbon-copied from a carbon-copy of Hollow Knight" as a brief, descriptive name for the 'Slam.'
Unity should add a feature so that the moment you add chromatic aberration as a post-processing effect your computer immediately blows up in flames.
Are you feeling okay buddy?
