      @@mendingmotos I am always a bit worried when I bring my bike to the shop. It ususally comes back with new scratches and damages. Your way of working is what I would love to see from every mechanic.

      @@Amerigo73 Thanks! yea most shops have timed deadlines to get certain jobs done so things do tend to be a little rushed. me on the other hand i have all the time i need lol

      Yea everything on it looked like an aftermarket upgrade part… but that all came from the factory 0.0

    That was quite a neat job rebuilding the damaged section of the lower crankcase with hi tensile bolts in situ then tig welding round them. I guess they unscrew easy enough from the Alu case afterwards before facing the gasket surface? Very good methodical work with the whole bike.

    • @mendingmotos
      @mendingmotos  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks and I can’t take credit for the welding, it took me 3 weeks to find someone who could do the job and had experience doing it lol but it turned out perfect. Thanks for watching!

    Good job.. I'm bout to do the same with my 07. But I'm only replacing the crankshaft since the previous owner messed up the part where crankshaft locks with the flywheel. Now I have to open the bottom end to replace just the crankshaft smh

      Thanks! It’s the Sony ZV-1 it’s nice to have a smaller camera to put where ever but it can also get nice depth of field making it look nicer than go pro footage.

    Life pro tip - Fastest, easiest way to safely clean a chain without damaging the o-rings between the links? Brake cleaner. Spray a LITTLE BIT on a towel and turn the rear wheel as you hold the chain with the damp towel. Turn the towel often as it will be filthy almost immediately. No need to remove the chain. Never spray a chain directly with brake cleaner 👌🏻

    • @mendingmotos
      @mendingmotos  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh ya I completely agree. I wanted to take it off just so I could get the plastic guides off as well and clean them and under them lol and that harsh deep cleaning of the chain was to get off years of grime and a bit of rust as you saw. I had plans to swap it for a new one very soon. Cause I had WD-40 on it for a bit and I know that actually can break down the orings. But I will def keep that cleaning routine in mind for the next nasty chain I encounter, cheers!

    • @smith8124
      @smith8124 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mendingmotos Yup. Contrary to common belief, WD-40 is NOT a lubricant haha. It actually breaks down oils and grease. I LOVE it for non o-ring chains on race bikes after a wash, it displaces all the water and is a great rust preventative - the WD actually stands for “water displacement”. As for lube, I’d give a heavy weight gear oil a go. Bonus if you get a bottle with the cone shaped tip. You can trim it so the hole is small and put it right where you want it. Love your Speed Tripple. Thats my favorite color way for them of all time. Almost bought one but picked up a ‘23 Honda CB1000R Black Edition instead. Long live big bore nakeds! 🍻
