I only watch the videos because of all the glamour!😊🏠🐕🦺👍👍👍👍✌️
I work in a shipyard in Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin . We paint our underwater hulls with antifoulant paint over epoxy then put zinc anodes on the hull to protect against barnicals.
Good morning Brian and Diana🌸. Good to see you today. Boat maintenance is no fun but boating is👍. Have a good time fishing🎣. Thank you for taking us along today. Have a good week. See you next week🎣✌️🇺🇸
Ha that sums it up in a nut shell. Hope you have a great week to.

Hi guys, boats are a real joy to have and to use. The maintenance part not so fun. But to keep your investment looking good it’s part of the deal. I also noticed that Diana is looking all trim and slim. What ever she is doing is definitely working. Well done young Lady.
Thanks. She cut out sugar and processed food with some exercise👍
The chores never end, do they lol? You guys have fun fishing!
Will do, thanks.
Glamorous ain’t the name of the game,, but you know this big fella😊

Unbelievable that the barnacles attach to a boat so fast, maintenance looks very tough, but you got it done looks good...
The grow unbelievable fast.
Amen. It's an awesome job, and many blessings, and keep safe in all you do
Thank you! You too!
The fun continues! Thanks for sharing with us all!

Work is never done, but the rewards are nice! Have a great week Brian and Diane, see you next week. Stay safe.
Thank you Julie. Hope you have a great week too.
Glad yall got the boats cleaned up. Didn't realize those barnacles were so bad up there in AK. Good luck fishing stay safe have fun.
Thanks, you too👍
Glad to see you all on the island. I hope you’re moms surgery was successful. My dad will be 102 next month and needs to get his lenses cleaned again. He always says he’s going blind until after it’s done. They didn’t tell us that happens when he had the cataracts removed. I don’t know why but i always picture it like the lime building up on a glass shower. Have a Great week with your friend and happy fishing to Brian. Thanks for sharing.
102! Wow think of all of the things you dad has seen and lived through. Her mom’s surgery went well. Lots of eye drops.
@@AnAlaskaHomestead He’s WW2 third armored. He was anti aircraft, tanks and halftracks. Shot 50 caliber at planes. He got demoted once because they had a suprise inspection and they had emptied part of one of the tanks ammo and hid bottles of booze in there instead. That is about all he told me about the war. I didn’t even hear that until my youngest was in high school and had to interview him for a grade. He also told us about freeing a camp and how skinny and sick the people were. He said they were cooking one day and they wanted him to eat with them. He said he didn’t want to but didn’t want to hurt their feelings. He ate with them and said it was really good and asked them what it was. The said “hund” which is german for dog. He passed whenever they asked him again. My brother was third armored in vietnam and never talks about it either. They don’t even talk about it to each other.
@@maryalice8507 that’s great. Sounds like what a tanker should be doing. Hiding alcohol in an armor crate😂 Thanks for sharing.
@@AnAlaskaHomestead in all fairness the germans didn’t have planes flying by that time. Before that they would have never thought of it because they were the ones getting bombs dropped on them. They were the spearhead division.
Awesome job, cleaning those boats! 👍😎🇨🇦
Thanks 👍
.Cleaning the boat - Brian quote: "I got the back of the boat cleaned" WHAT?!?! The back of the boat???? Have mercy. landlubber LOL
😂😂😂
Nice job! Live free!!

Yeah they are great boats.
Thanks. ✌🏻👊🏼
Awesome video brother stay strong and God bless ❤❤❤
Thanks, you too!
I hope you had a good time Diane with your friend. Brian was there fish to be caught? 😊
Unfortunately not. We had a few next to the boat but didn’t get anything in the boat 👍
Nice work you two.
Thank you kindly!
Thanks for the nice video.
Thanks for watching!
When you clean the boat invest into a gallon of javex or bleach. Put in small plastic bottle like a cup full at a time and spray / squirt the kelp and growth under the boat. Let it set for about 5 minutes and then pressure wash. It curls up like snot. Works great. Comes right off.
Sounds good
I did find this for ya
Copper has been used by mariners for centuries to prevent barnacles from attaching to their boats.
And
To keep barnacles off hulls, boats are coated in antifouling paint that kills barnacle larvae.
Hope it helps big fella
Yes you can. Some people love it some hate it. For those who beach their boats on shore it scrapes the paint and then water gets under the paint peels it away. At least that’s what I’ve heard from others who have used it.
Thankyou 😊
You’re welcome 😊
wow, I had no idea a couple months would grow that mess....can you get a Teflon hull?
I guess you should consider bottom coating those boats. ? Or is it just easier to power wash? Another good vid. How's the chickens doing?
Some people say the bottom coating is a pain and not worth it, others love it. 🤷 Chickens are doing good.
I made antifouling for a living preparation and a good primer are essential. Every barnacle is degrading your aluminum.. Not to mention fuel savings dragging all that crud around
And I thought boat maintenance was bad here...I'd forgotten just how much work it can be when you're in Southeast.....at least you can back a trailer into the water and here all I can do is wench it up the cut bank. Let us know how the fishing went....
No fish😩
@@AnAlaskaHomestead 😔
Was curious as to how often you have to clean your boat? In other words, how long does it take for the barnacles to form to the degree you had. I have never been around boats to know. Great job doing your routine things!
We had this cleaned while it was in the shop about two months ago.
Diana looks like she's lost weight. That's a lot of work cleaning your boat.
She’s been working hard
good luck with fishing how much does that stuff affect the perfomance of the boats big and small?
Thank you Cedric. It slows the boat down a lot. When Clean I cruise around 30-32 mph at 4400 rpm. As it was before the cleaning I was running 22 mph at 4800 rpm. Clean I get 2.5 miles per gallon and dirty it’s 1.3 mpg.
I can get boat trailer suspension parts if you ever need, just let me know.
Thanks. We have been looking for a 2nd trailer in town but can only find old trailers with messed up rollers. We’d like to get one and convert it to bunks.
I’m far from an expert, what can you do about the barnacles? Paint, Chemicals?
There is a paint you can use
Can you put bottom boat paint on to cut down on the cleaning??
Yes you can. Some people love it some hate it. For those who beach their boats on shore it scrapes the paint and the. Water gets under the paint peels it away.
❤️🙏🙂
Yo Brian how come you don’t use anti foul on the boats. They make pretty good hard anti foul for powerboats. I’ve got a boat that I keep in the water in summer and it works real good for me

I play in and around the South Island of NZ and it’s pretty much like where you are but a bit warmer in winter. I regularly beach my boat mainly on mud or sand and the anti foul survives all that. No hull treatment will survive abrasion totally however even if the anti foul is scratched it still holds on well. We tend to cruise around 25knts over rough water. The anti foul I use is 2 part extra hard copper which I put on a new aluminium hull 5 years ago and it’s still going good. It hasn’t saved me any money but it sure has improved my fuel efficiency and fishing time. I use Copper B Sculpt Nouveau here in NZ but it should be available or something like it in Alaska. @@user-vt7pp7vi9v I hear you. The rocky beaches here seem to wreck havoc with the paint.
Big and Sexy should be able to go 3 MPH faster now, less hull drag...😂😅 Enjoy your fishing escapade, be caredful. Love ya'll ❤️
Ha 12 mph thank you very much 😂😂😂

take the good with the bad
True
What about bottom paint? So you don’t have to do this again? Seems like it would be worth the cost.

@@AnAlaskaHomestead That makes sense. Looked like a lot of work. You guys got er done, good job. By the way y’all are looking super healthy, whatever you’re doing or eating. Take care! Still hope we can meet you guys one day
What community are you in? I've been researching SE Alaska for property
We don’t say which island we live on but there is a lot near the Juneau area.
Hard to believe how fast you said it took to cover your boat's bottom like that. What a mess. Surprised there has not been a wax on kind of coating to put on boats that stops that from happening. Or electric barrier kind of thing. But I know nothing about it.
There is a cooper based paint you can put on and I’ve even heard people crisp on the bottom. The paint is expensive and you have to redo it every few years.
bottom paint??
Probably not.
