I just bought it the other day. I can't wait to use it on the job. I'm almost thinking about taking it back though for the flexvolt but Idk i might not. Flexvolt is probably way overkill bc 90 percent of the time I'm cutting plywood
Just bought this saw tonight. The guy at checkout basically told me I was buying a $200 battery and a $70 saw that was along for the ride. Can't wait to try it out tomorrow.
Glad I watched this. My corded saw is a 7.25 and wanted to keep the same for my cordless. I just bought the 5.0's so I'm going to step it down and get the 6.5 instead. Good video and I LOVE your truck.
Hi Brian , I have to say this new DeWalt 20v power detect technology is looking good on certain tools. Yeah, I'm one of those guys who would like to see this exact model with a blade on the left, LOL.. I don't really care for the bulky rear handle style. I do hope DeWalt can fix and solve the issue with the (DCF 887) over heating / burning up with this new technology.
Would love this saw blade left, iv get the rear handle flexvolt and the right blade flexvolt but find myself grabbing my 18 v left blade it's just perfect but lacks the power
DeWalt just came out with a New "Brushless" 6.5" blade left circular saw , it's the dcs565, it's almost identical to the dcs391 accept it has a led light, a rather hook , and obviously its Brushless with a little bit more power...👍👍

One additional thing to mention. The power detect will flash a light and stall the Saw when the battery us dead. I learned that the hard way. Using it for the first time I put in a battery I had that I thought was charged and it kept stalling out on me. Duh. This video showed the battery life button I didn't know about.
but dcs574w1 comes with a battery charger blade storage bag for the same price as just the bare tool $249, check how much that battery charger and blade would cost on its own
I just bought this today I got the kit 8ah battery, charger blade and or course the saw, LOL Lowe's is selling the whole kit for the same price as just the bare tool for the same price $249.
I'm no expert but I think it's because Home Depot (and a few online retailers) own the flexvolt rights, just like the Atomic line up, and Lowe's doesn't, so that's why they had to come up with an equivalent one for Lowe's to sell as well. The extreme line up being Lowe's equivalent to the Atomic at home depot, I know one is 12v and the other one is 18v but I still feel like that's how it is.
DCS578 is on the FlexVolt platform, this DCS574 is on the 20v platform, that's the main difference. FlexVolt is also more powerful (2400 watts vs 1300 watts). They both are "Gen II" models of their predecessors that take advantage of new battery technology.
@KelMaster Construction yes, it's not completely exclusive to the home depot but Lowe's doesnt sell them, just like home depot doesn't sell power detect or the 12v extreme line. A bunch of other online retailers also sell flexvolt (acme tools, amazon, maybe Ohio Power tool but not completely sure).

I've got the flexvolt saw, pretty nice. Overkill for my needs.
Great informative reviews! Keep up the great feedback. As a renovator I really appreciate the knowledge of which tools to invest in and you guys take all the hard work out of that.
I‘ve bought the tracksaw magnesium plate from the Flexvolt model and switched it with the original aluminum plate. It works well, and you then are able to use the DeWalt Track with it.
Question - will these new 6.0ah and 8.0ah batteries with the 21700 cells give my regular DCS570 saw any more noticeable power or should I save my money and stick with my 5.0ah's
Yes it's same as the 20v 6ah where the originals had 20700 cells but new ones now have 21700 cells. It has to be dewalt marketing as usual to sell the 8ah.
My first cordless Circular Saw (DeWalt DCS574) and I love it with the exception of the counterclockwise blade rotation as it tends to chip the upside of a finished board. Am I missing something here or should I just be cutting boards upside down????
They all cut in that direction. Have you upgraded to a higher tooth count blade? Slow down your cuts and it will chip less. Run masking tape down your cut line first and it will also help.
@@WorkshopAddict Thanks for your reply and confirming the saws correct counterclockwise rotation. I'm using the new blade provided by DeWalt and will certainly slow down my cuts, step up to the 8 Amp Battery and consider applying masking tape on important finish cuts. Technology always makes a new product. That is why tool companies went to battery to"solve a problem" and now they let technology sell tools. For the guy who does not own FV tools, this is where it is at.
WorkshopAddict My point is even if your heavily invested in the XR batteries, to take advantage of the power gain of this new saw you have to buy new power detect 8 amp batteries anyway .Btw thanks for the excellent review 👍
The 8.0ah battery comes with the saw , in the kit you get the Tool , 8.0ah bat. , Fast Charger and a Bag for $279 , that's a pretty good deal especially when the battery is around $180 by its , just sayin ....👍
I saw and off brand 8.0Ah battery "FOR DeWALT" on eBay (only $30). I'm skeptical that it won't be as good quality as the "DeWALT" brand. Does anyone know if that off brand battery will give the same (or similar power) that the 'DeWALT" brand battery will?
I’m looking to buy this saw with the 8ah battery. I’m also looking to buy a drill and driver with 2 20 volt 2ah batteries. My question is, can I use the 2ah batteries with this saw if I needed to?
Yes, the 2ah batteries do have the amps, I bougt the 5 tool bundle with the circular saw and two 2ah batteries, and I am impressed with its powerfull cut. The thing is that it will only last for 1/4 of the cuts of the 8ah battery
Last question. Is there a difference between the 4ah compact vs the 4ah XR 2p ? Is one better than the other? All else equal I’m tempted to sell my 2p and get the compact
I jus bought one of last week and found out I had to buy the charger and batt it self that would cost me more and it don't come with any bag or case so what the hell where do I find one that has the kit of the whole thing it needs?
all can be had in bare tool. 574 is the power detect, best used with large 20-volt batteries like the 6ah and the 8ah, NOT FLEXVOLT.... 573 is teh flexVolt advantage, best use with flexvolt batteries but still a 20 volt tool and no where near flexvolt performance... 570 is the old XR brushless that does little power increase with larger batteries. @@Wazoo117 no, when they first came out (2016-2018) they were 20700 sized Sanyo NCR20700 cells. Same as the older DCB206. They switched to the 21700 Samsung 30T in late 2018. Trust me.

Just bought the 998 kit and got the 570 for free. My question is will the 8ah battery give any power gains to the older 570 ? I just bought it and now I have buyers remorse 🤷🏼♂️
Hmm wonder if the newer vs older flexvolt shows any difference? Doesn't seem so as in your other video you have the original 20v 6.0 also and say it's the same as 8.0
I just bought this saw and I'm probably going to be taking it back. The lever to adjust the bevel digs into my finger a bit when I grab the front handle. It only happens when the saw depth is adjusted to cut half inch plywood. I know it's a small issue but it drives me crazy. Does this happen with anyone else or just me? EDIT: exchanged it for the same model and everything is all good with it.
@@WorkshopAddict Thank you for the heads up and sharing this vid with us. Keep up the great work. As an A&P Mechanic I'd like to see the inside of the tools also without the retarded AVE type comments though that he says in his vids :-p
Do you have any videos that are like “decoding dewalts offerings” or something like that that explains all the lineups they have and what’s sold where and what’s equivalent to what etc? I find it very confusing as a guy who’s been mostly plugged into milwaukee where there is no store exclusive versions and it’s just 12v/18v brushed or brushless
I noticed my brand new saw cuts about 3/16 to the right of my mark when making a 90 degree cut. Does anyone else have this problem? I did not see any adjustment on the saw for this.
I got the xr570 a short time ago. Its nice on the 4AH battery. Almost went with flex 575, but DeWalt gets you bad on battery jumps. Now they introduce this.... I dip my toes into DeWalt pool very carefully. All my oldish but not so old 12volt XRT tools are still good... no battery support. So DeWalt stung me good once.
I bought this saw and it came with HUGE flex volt battery that won't fit any of my other Dewalt 20v tools. Does the 8 hour battery that you referred to fit other 20v tools? How do I know which battery is 5 and 8 hours?
I got the xr570 a short time ago. Its nice on the 4AH battery. Almost went flex 575, but DeWalt gets you bad on battery jumps. I dip my toes into DeWalt very carefully.
Great vid brother and kudos to DeWalt. I have a question....I know that the 8ah is outfitted with 21700 cells... however I have a 6ah 20v battery that I've had for about 2 & 1/2 years that uses 20700 cells...that being said here's my question. I've read a few reviews and watched a few videos concerning dewalts power connect tools...are the 6ah xr batteries that are being made today made with 21700 cells instead of 20700 cells ? I don't have a 8ah battery to compare to but the footprint of the 8 and the 6 look to be about the same. What's that look on your face Milwaukee ? Oh I'm sorry ...I didn't realize how hard that DeWalt kicked you in the nuts..😂😂😂
There was talk about Dewalt going with 20700 cells but they ended up going with 21700 cells because Tesla went with 21700 cells and in the end it would be the cell of choice, that said you probably wouldn't see a difference in power between 20700 and 21700 cells. If tge early batteries had them
@@loucifer323 Thanks for the input brother , when I got home from work today and looked at this battery again to make sure I was haven't completely lost my mind. This battery does indeed have 20700 cells in it...at least that is what it says on the side of the cells...I guess stranger things have happened. Looks like it was manufactured in 2017. The numbers on the top of the battery are as follows. *2017 48 1-7 N4513910 looks like it was also made in Japan.
Older pre-2019 DCB206s were 20700 based, since then they have been 21700 based (Samsung 30Ts to be exact). One way to tell is the lettering on the side label. Older 20700 batteries have in small yellow font "6.0Ah" vs. new 21700 based DCB206's large white font "6Ah", just like the 8Ah. It is the same with the Flexvolt 9.0 DCB609 btw. Pre-2019 were 20700 based, they are now 21700 based (also Samsung 30Ts). The little silver tabs (heat sinks) on top of the battery are how you tell them apart. Only the new 21700 based batteries have them.
@@thehhoff69 Thanks for the identifier. For what it's worth the Sanyo 20700A cell used in a lot of the older bigger Dewalt power packs is also a very good cell. Obviously the Samsung 30T has trumped it but the Sanyo A is no slouch.
Mine lasted 14 months Used it every day cut miles of wood and other Still looks newish but just clicks then shuts down edit- can easily see blade from either side of saw your working from
I used to reluctantly rate the dewalt skill saw over my makita But now they gone right side cut. Right side cut goes in the bin. Its dangerous having to take your hand over to pull the guard back on plunge cuts. You cant see the blade. You cant hold it against a set square because the motor housing is in the way. Shame only dewalt tool I actually rated apart from the radio. Makita for life.
I think Milwaukee includes something to do with the change from 18650 to 21700 batteries. Bit does it make a difference? It might also include amp draw on the batteries since these will provide a larger draw.
@@bartdereu9267 What? No. A battery is not like a capacitor. It cannot discharge all its energy at once. A batteries rate of discharge is limited by the rate of its internal chemical reactions, which all things being equal, is linearly proportional to the capacity of the battery.

Pending what part of the video you are watching, I use the old and new FlexVolt battery. Trying every battery I can find.
all of the 609's are 21700
@@Wazoo117 no, when they first came out (2016-2018) they were 20700 sized Sanyo NCR20700 cells. Same as the older DCB206. They switched to the 21700 Samsung 30T in late 2018. Trust me.
Damn! Your right. It’s worth the upgrade 😀
Is there any interchangeability of 20 volt batteries? The different makes all look similar.
All 20-volt and 60 volt flexvolt batteries can be used on all 20 volt tools.
I am a huge dewalt fan i am very exited to see the new flexvolt grinder 3hp hope you will make video on it soon
We have it!
@@WorkshopAddict no way i want to see video on it 🙃🙃
@@OUTILSCLIPSQC Looks like I will release it on Saturday.
@@WorkshopAddict ok i will watch it for sure !! 👌👊👍👍
I work in Renovations. I was so disappointed after buying one. It’s like a little toy. Great for cutting cardboard maybe..
I’ve never broken saw in 50 years .. the gears broke on this one in aboat, 20 days of working.. other saws I’ve had for over 10 years still working. Guy said I must’ve abused it.😂😂. It’s been over two months sent out for guaranteed repair. Not back yet.🤬
Just bought the 998 kit and got the 570 for free. My question is will the 8ah battery give any power gains to the older 570 ? I just bought it and now I have buyers remorse 🤷🏼♂️
Que diferencias respecto a potencia hay entre 573 y 574
What about using the 6ah battery
Hmm wonder if the newer vs older flexvolt shows any difference? Doesn't seem so as in your other video you have the original 20v 6.0 also and say it's the same as 8.0
No, no real difference
Always something new with dewalt milwaukee,,latest greatest. Keeping my card full!
whats the difference in the dcs574w1 and the dcs574b?
574w1 comes with 8ah battery, charger storage bag and saw, 574b is just a bare tool
Did u test the flexvolt adventage ?
Will be soon. Working through some things before the video is published.
Can you post a link to the dust port? Can’t find it anywhere. Thanks bud
Will they make one that is track-compatible?
I do not have info on one other than their track saw,
Thank you for the Video 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼💪💪💪💪💪😎😎😎😎😎
I no longer carry a corded circular saw on my work truck. The 574 is that good!
Which do you recomend 61/2 or 71/4
Been deciding myself. Just get the 7, I am
So now there's 2 different saws on 2 different platforms? I didn't get a chance to watch it yet..
that looks good; various batteries confusing, I'm going to search for your vids for the flex volt review, I only want to buy 1 battery saw
New FlexVolt saw will be out next week.
@@WorkshopAddict Thank you for the heads up and sharing this vid with us. Keep up the great work. As an A&P Mechanic I'd like to see the inside of the tools also without the retarded AVE type comments though that he says in his vids :-p
Nice review and demonstration
Do you have any videos that are like “decoding dewalts offerings” or something like that that explains all the lineups they have and what’s sold where and what’s equivalent to what etc? I find it very confusing as a guy who’s been mostly plugged into milwaukee where there is no store exclusive versions and it’s just 12v/18v brushed or brushless
Same question for the batteries. Like what’s the newest/best 1p/2p/3p etc
I noticed my brand new saw cuts about 3/16 to the right of my mark when making a 90 degree cut. Does anyone else have this problem? I did not see any adjustment on the saw for this.
Cool video man this saw look very powerfull !!
Great review sir!
what about testing different blade types to see which ones are most efficient - thin kerf, coated etc
Can't see any reason to buy a corded circular saw after using this.
Is buying it off Amazon legit though ?
Would you recommend those lithium ion knockoffs or do you think they wouldn't give enough power?
They work, but most use recycled batteries and they seem to fail faster than branded.
I just got the 9am flex volt
Basically depends on which battery you are using
I got the xr570 a short time ago. Its nice on the 4AH battery. Almost went with flex 575, but DeWalt gets you bad on battery jumps. Now they introduce this.... I dip my toes into DeWalt pool very carefully. All my oldish but not so old 12volt XRT tools are still good... no battery support. So DeWalt stung me good once.
you have a 90 day money back guarantee. How long has it been?
I bought this saw and it came with HUGE flex volt battery that won't fit any of my other Dewalt 20v tools. Does the 8 hour battery that you referred to fit other 20v tools? How do I know which battery is 5 and 8 hours?
So, flexvolt batteries are large but they do fit all 20-volt tools. The battery should say X.0 Ah on the side. unless it is a smaller one.
Great vid as always 👍
Dear Santa, please bring me a dewalt 7 1/4in 8amp hour battery circular saw!
Can you compare that with the Milwaukee
We did two weeks ago.
@@WorkshopAddict So how did it go? Also is the DeWalt xr circular saw as powerful as the flexvolt circular saw?
I keep running into this channel, guess it's time to sub 🤷♂️ lol
great informative video, thank you very much.
I literally just bought a 20 volt XR last month. LoL Oh well
90 day money back bud. You can return it no questions asked.
I thought all the 6Ah batteries in 20 volt, had the 21700. I know the 6 Ah FX had 18650's....
*2017 48 1-7
N4513910 looks like it was also made in Japan.
Stick a socket on ur finger if ur gonna use it as ur edge guide save u that roughed up finger
I just bought one it’s 👍
Mine lasted 14 months
Used it every day
cut miles of wood and other
Still looks newish
but just clicks then shuts down
edit- can easily see blade from either
side of saw your working from
I used to reluctantly rate the dewalt skill saw over my makita
But now they gone right side cut. Right side cut goes in the bin. Its dangerous having to take your hand over to pull the guard back on plunge cuts. You cant see the blade. You cant hold it against a set square because the motor housing is in the way. Shame only dewalt tool I actually rated apart from the radio.
Makita for life.
I just bought this saw and disappointed because the line on the boot doesn’t line up to my chalk line. It is almost an 1/8” off.
Am I the only one nervous whit where he places his offhand?
Flex volt advantage
How is the 8.0 Ah battery is 54% more power than a 5.0 Ah battery? More run time, yes, more P=V*I? no.
I think Milwaukee includes something to do with the change from 18650 to 21700 batteries. Bit does it make a difference? It might also include amp draw on the batteries since these will provide a larger draw.
It's because the max discharge rate of a battery, all things being equal, is linearly proportional to its capacity. Same with the charge rate.
Exactly what i thought. Ah is not Max Ampere. A 8Ah battery just has a 60% longer battery life . It should be equally strong.
@@bartdereu9267 What? No. A battery is not like a capacitor. It cannot discharge all its energy at once. A batteries rate of discharge is limited by the rate of its internal chemical reactions, which all things being equal, is linearly proportional to the capacity of the battery.
@@chang.stanley uhm, yes and no. But my explanation still stands.
Where is Jeff these days?
He has had some GF issues and been moving into a apt.... Looking for a home now. Been pretty stressful on him.
@@WorkshopAddict Sorry to hear that. Tell him he is missed on the channel!
I'm getting one
Can you cut metal with this saw
Yes. Just use a 7 1/4" blade specifically for cutting metals.
Thanks
Blades on the wrong side
For me its in the right side i do have loke that
I work in finishing.. i’ve never broken a circular saw in my life. This piece of crap. After one week of light duty cutting. Motor burnt. Brought it in. Had it repaired underneath the guarantee. Came out 2 months later. They claim $260 of repairs on a $230 circular saw. L O L 2 pieces of wood later. Saw broke again again. Do not buy this piece of crap is a toy. Cut cardboard only waste of time and money.
Not me i like the them right side blades
I think it's a rip off?
😷🍻🍺
It would be nice if they made this blade left. Also the smaller saws how come they don't make any of those brushless?
