Meaning regardless of your job you still have the chance of being deployed around the world. I doubt any transgenders on hormones would ever be deployed because of the logistical issues that come with supplying any given number of people with medication in places around the world with the worst conditions. DOD already has to justify their budget, I doubt they could get many people on board to spend more money to supply trans with the things they need to live and function. Not to mention the health and mental problems that come with trying to flip flop your bodys physiology

Agreed with all that but the ban actually isn’t directly due to being transgendered. For obvious reasons, people aren’t eligible to serve in the battlefield if they take daily medications. Trans people take hormones and hormone blockers. This rule exists for the same reason that people with flat feet aren’t able to serve in battle. If a trans person is deployed and unable to return to base for their medication then they’re putting the mission and everyone else at risk. It’s really that simple.

As a veteran myself I know that people that require medication everyday can't always serve. That's the reason why I was medically retired. I think if you want it for go hormone treatment while you serve and you don't want to have surgery then you can be an asset. However if someone is looking for transgender surgery there's a lot of recovery time with that so what good would it be? Getting a paycheck and doing nothing to earn it?
