      Gender dysphoria is a severe mental illness I'd rather have troops with PTSD because of shit they've been through than to purposely not get counseling and instead get a sex change and still want to be in the SEAL Teams I'm sorry, he would have got thrown out on his face in the 1980s and that's the way it should be now don't ask don't tell flat out that's it

    When I first started this, I'll admit, I had a closed mind in a sense. But in the opening minutes when they say to please keep an open mind and an open heart and hear what this person has to say, I thought to myself "you know what, I'll do that. Instead of moving on, let's give this a listen with a completely open mind". When the 4 hours was up, all I can say is, I'm extremely glad I listened. there were so many great lessons and great conversations. if we can all just stop for a minute and listen to what each other has to say, maybe we can make the world a better place... what an amazing show and amazing podcast, thank you!

    I have recently discovered Chris/Kristin and have an understanding of the story. It's ironic because my name is Chris and I went by Kris my whole life, however, I've always been a straight male. I have loads of respect for this man. I think he explores and tries to see things with neutrality and compassion. Whether he stayed or changed back, he has a good head on his shoulders.
    He made it clear that some people who switch had found solace in it and they deserve to. However, there is an ideology that has surfaced that has confused the masses and many get lost in the crossfire who regret it later.
    My political views are none of any side, i, like Chris, will continue to just try and do the right thing - not afraid to make mistakes, get laughed at, and be wrong. Choosing to forgive and help others understand, all while contributing to those who deserve it.

    • @AECommonThread2137
      @AECommonThread2137 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem is those who decide not to listen, those who choose to stay ignorant as the world turns. Ignorance attacks us all. Bias attacks us all - we are all human and the one thing we should strive for is to be a better student and understand that we know little.

    • @AECommonThread2137
      @AECommonThread2137 ปีที่แล้ว

      The parts are around 44 min into this. You both share great info and points. That's what makes it a political debate because there isn't a true answer. I totally get that it can be a slippery slope and we don't want to coddle kids, but then there are also context-dependent situations. I personally understand that scientifically the reality is in the genes and whatnot - that can't be taken away, but contextually, I wouldn't pursue offending someone. I stand by how you guys believe that nobody is special, to be humble, to be straightforward. I would find myself with that kind of mindset and others who share, but if I know someone who I respect and they have their thing, within reason, I will meet them on mutual terms. It is truly difficult to do that, but like anything in life, let's be good students and take on what's difficult. It can be a lot of mental gymnastics that most don't feel they have time for and would rather side up on the debate, but simply trying to understand is the liberating part. Through compassion, I feel like fewer and fewer people will feel like they have to do extreme things to prove their points. Victim mentality is bad, but not everyone responds to tough love all the time. I just lead by example on being a great person. Both of you are great people! I find you both courageous and very intelligent for having the discussion.
      🗽 🇺🇸

    • @AECommonThread2137
      @AECommonThread2137 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's really no right answer. We are all going to die and in years a whole new society will live on and at that point, none of this will be relevant. The goal is to play the part in life that you were feeling up to.

    This takes 2 brave people to put out a podcast such as this. Kristin, thank you for your service really doesn't say enough. This 19 year war has not been in our lives like it should have been. It should have been in our face daily. The day-to-day of our soldiers was never really expounded upon. To see them on patrol and the road is so hot their boot treads are decorating the road. Eventually,there is no tread.
    The image of the flag draped coffins lining the belly of the plane will stay with me forever. It should be in the mind's eye of every American.
    If these badass SEALs can be real with each other why can't the average American?
    I realize this was aired at least 2 years ago. So much has happened since. But,yet it is the same.

    Mr. Ritland, this is my FIRST EVER comment on the internet(no BS) and I felt compelled to reach out to you! As a patriot, I want to say "THANK YOU" for your service to protecting our GREAT country, which of course includes the former warriors, current active duty and the future ones who move forward into the unknown to keep us all safe. Your "Band of SEAL Brothers" truly are the definition of what a hero is. UNFORTUNATELY, it is something that is lost on a lot of people that take it for granted, like Memorial Day, and NOT think of sacrifices that YOU and others have made to make that a reality! In addition to ALL of that, I appreciate everything that you are doing to take care of MWD's and as a new subscriber, I look forward to supporting you in your endeavor. I've had dogs my entire life and can say without a doubt my GSD Rommel is both my psychiatrist, exercise buddy and chick magnet....wait forget the last one. If I'm lucky, I will adopt a retired MWD in the future as a way to honor these magnificent animals. I'm only 4 podcasts in & look forward to each and every one. I sir, respect what you do and am humbled by how down to earth you are. On that note, I will now go choke myself!

    I wasn't sure how this was gona be for sure at first, but I do know that this is how things should be. If people would focus on common ground instead of the "differences" everything would be alot better. Another great podcast Mr. Ritland! Simple Life unfortunately, political theatre wins if everyone only sees differences. The liberal and conservative elites could not possibly accomplish their evil profits without the internal American civil war...it’s all about the distractions from the real evil truth.

    • @IamNomadSauce
      @IamNomadSauce 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@roadbully384 I agree. I think we all need to see where the division is really coming from. Its coming from all over. The easiest and most effective way to solve this problem is for us all to change the media we consume. Replace cable news(All of them) with something good like these types of podcasts. There are a lot of independent podcasters that produce incredible and useful content just like Mike is doing here. And they are from all over the spectrum and if you pay attention for 10 minutes you will see that America is united in so many ways and we want the same things.

    Don’t hate me for not celebrating, following, tiptoeing on words that may or may not offend the transgender, gay community,, I was raised one way and that was to treat everyone with respect and to honor my father and mother,, in my opinion the level of sensitivity in our culture today surpasses political correctness to the point that it takes coping mechanisms away from our children in their ability to control or cope with ones emotions. As a mixed child growing up in post Vietnam era I was taught to have thick skin and was made aware of what total ignorance was and through great parenting gave me great coping mechanisms which helped me deal with not just racism but helped me more when things didn’t go right in my adult life,, ITS SO MUCH easier to teach children to be respectful than to teach 5 billion adults to tiptoe around words. I don’t care about the trans or gay community and that doesn’t mean I don’t care about people it’s just the opposite. Help your neighbor, love your parents and be great leaders to your children. If I saw a transgendered person on the side of the road with a flat tire I would stop like I would for anyone,, I teach my children to treat others how they would treat their mother so that’s my opinion.

    48:00 .....the ultimate flaw of current cultural trends is to continually seek to control the uncontrollable, the environment, in effort to cater to the weakness of the individual. It's much easier, and infinitely more productive to prepare a child for the unpredictable challenges of life, than to try and run in front of them eliminating the challenges. Justin "Master Chim" Garcia says it best, and i paraphrase, when he says that when we remove an obstacle from our kid's path, we also must consign ourselves to removing the development of the very strength and power they could have developed to deal with it......

      @@oif3gunner who cares. Chief served this country in ways you'd never even be able to touch, if anyone deserves some basic respect for protecting your liberties countless times over 2 decades, it'd be Kris. You don't have to be a sensitive c*nt by being needlessly disrespectful for selfish reasons, simply because someone isn't living the way YOU want. It just makes you look like a child throwing a tantrum because you want attention. "Sir" is a title that has nothing to do with gender, is used for either man or woman higher up the chain in the military and yet we have no issues using it that way because it's a word that adults use and shows basic respect. So if you want to actually make an impression? Be decent, regardless of your personal "politics"; because trying your hardest to make someone else feel like sh"it because you feel icky and uncomfortable about their gender is not what a man does. It's what a grown child in a man's body does. So maybe you actually know more about identity politics than you even realize after all.

    This was handled with grace and respect, very well done interview. Kristen has a tendency ramble/get random and interrupt (don't mean that in a bad way, but I def noticed it) and Mr. Riteland handled that well. So much respect for both of you, and this has quickly become one of the best podcasts out along with Power Athlete and Tactical Fitness Report. Never looked forward to a podcast so damn much, so thank you Sir.

It's about the team dynamic, things like being naked around each other more times then countable and a mans natural instinct to protect and help women. If a teammate is hurt for any reason whether they are shot or whatever your job on that team is the step over them while they are bleeding out and finish the fight well they administer first aid to themselves the best they can and once the area is secure you then return to do what you can. Could you imagine if there was a woman in the front of the stack and she gets shot making entry and the guy behind her hesitates for a second and doesn't step over her because his internal instincts chicken and he wants to grab her and pull her off the X, something like that could end up getting the entire team killed. All of the feminist propaganda aside women do not belong on all men teams especially small dynamic Special Operations teams. I had seen Kristen's documentary years ago and enjoyed listening to this episode. Hearing about the growth phases (puberty and the psycho-social manifestations) that transgender people go though was interesting to me. I have studied cults and have heard people who had left cults that they grew up in or who spent decades in, say something somewhat similar; that they go through all sorts of phases that they missed out on as a teenager or young adulthood. So it made sense to me that a transgender person could also experience this. I had never thought of this before until I heard Kristen speak about it. Thanks, Mike.
