Wishing we had more time in this country but we will be back! We had so many great recommendations from our last video. What’s your favorite thing about Bulgaria? If you haven’t been, will you be visiting?

The cyrillic "wasnt given to the bulgarians" 😄. It was developed during the 9th century AD at the Preslav Literary School in the First Bulgarian Empire during the reign of Tsar Simeon I the Great.

One correction, it was done during the rule of Simeon’s father - Boris

Hello, nice video with some new venues I haven't been to, since I live overseas. Yeah, Bulgaria is full of superstitions as well as omens, for example my grandma used to say things like:
    - Don't sit at the corner of the table or you won't get married.
    - Don't whistle after midnight because you're calling the devil.
    - Finish your last bit of bread or the gipsy will beat you up...
Even though I'm in my 40's now, I actually still follow these rules and make sure not to break them when I find myself in those situations, as well as many others which I can't think of from the top of my head.

Great video! However, I was surprised when you said at 13:52 that it's surprising Bulgaria has corn. Corn is a global food staple, it is not limited to the US.

    • @vernonandmaryana
      @vernonandmaryana  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Corn started in southern Mexico around 10,000 years ago. There you can actually find even today a bunch of different species of corn. It spread to the rest of the world after European explorers brought it back from the Americas, and today the biggest corn producers are the United States, China, Brazil, and Argentina.

You collect the mineral water to drink later when it cools down... Some people exclusively drink this water and collect it in large jugs. This is a natural spring which all natural springs contain some Sulphur which gives it the smell, however if you put it in a bottle and wait until it cools down the sulpher evaporates away and the smell dissapears.

Cyrillic was created by the disciples of St Cyril and Methodius who created the Glagolithic Alphabet, neither the language nor the script was "given" to the Bulgarians. The Cyrillic alphabet was commissioned by Tsar Boris I of the First Bulgarian Empire in 800AD. The disciples, namely St. Naum of Preslav and St. Climent of Ohrid (Both Bulgarian cities) based the cyrillic script off of the Glagolithic script, and it was named after Cyril who was their teacher. Missionaries during 1000 AD were sent to Russia and other slavic speaking lands to give them the liturgical language and the Bulgarian Cyrillic Alphabet.
The rotunda church was built later on the remains of the 4th Century Bath house, the structure itself is from the 4th century, the interior is newer. The structure was likely reinforced and maintained, that is why it looks as it does.

@Newbihno why are you talking about Volgar Bulgars?? The First Bulgarian Empire is established 700 AD on the Balkans, this is way before Russia. The alphabet was created in the Bulgarian cities of Preslav and Ohrid.

    Nice video and thumbs up👍,
but just a couple of things:
    1. At the very beginning - showing Bulgaria with the Russian background music = let's say a MistakE 👎 and it is kind of disrespectful for us ❗
Our folklore is unique and globally recognized and it's even exists on the Voyager's 12-inch gold-plated copper disk containing sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth
    2. Local travel agencies = BIG and crazy expensive mistake !
Their travel packages are not flexible for the customers and most of them are with doubtful quality.
Also the prices are very high.
If you want for some reason to travel abroad from Bulgaria, try to organize your trip by itself.
You will be a lot happier with the final results and you will save some money 👍
    3. Also kind of disrespectful for us:
The Russian soldiers HELPED us to escape from the 500 years Turkish slavery !
They helped us, they DIDN'T saved us !!!
There is a huge difference !
The way you represent our history is, like we didn't do nothing to liberate ourselves from the Turkish slavery which is of course totally untrue !
    4. It's important to know, that the food quality in Bulgaria is in general not very good.
That means, that if you want your stomach to be safe, you need to search for more expensive restaurants = high quality food products + better cooked.
Another important thing is ,that during the summer in many places in Bulgaria the restaurant and diner owners are keeping their fridges in a low level to pay not so much for electricity.
That makes the food kind of not exactly spoiled ,but not good either.
So if you have a gentle stomach and it's extremely hot outside, be careful from where exactly you are buying your food ! ! !
    5. About that mineral water.
I am not 100% sure, but I think, that it's ,,drinkable" meaning, that ,,you" will not die.
BUT it's not drinkable water if it's not written about that specifically !!!
    6. Now this is kind a interesting and many patriotic bulgarians probably will not be agree with me, but ,,traditional Bulgarian food" almost doesn't exist.
Everything in Bulgaria is mixed from the countries around us and mostly from the Turks.
Almost every ,,traditional" bulgarian meal is just a variation of meal from another country.
But still there is something unique and typical Bulgarian:
And that is The Bulgarian yougurt and pleeeeease 🙏
don't compare it with the Greek yougurt because it's completely different ❗
Our yougurt is a lot more healthier thanks to the living bacteria inside of it and contains less calories.
Google it for more info. and try to find a home made bulgarian sheep or goat yogurt 👍👍👍

Didn't say that it was a part of it. It is an apartment from the 80s during when Bulgaria was a satellite state of the Soviet Union. In the stories during our visit, they make heavy connection of influence, trade, work, political ties to the USSR. Plus a lot of the items there were made in the USSR. Back than everything and everyone pretty much had everything the same, that's why we in actual Soviet counties had the same items.
