Maybe pressing the button on the remote a little faster might fix it. Or maybe…just maybe pushing and pulling the knob a little faster will probably definitely fix it. Once you get a little closer to the speed of sound with that knob the truck will know your serious and start working properly. 🤦♂️
Bruh.. its an old habit for guys that have either rode in or drove in vehicles that were from the 80's & 90's. Lord knows that method worked on a 94 Nissan Pathfinder I used to drive. So its a stuck force of habit. Kinda like banging on a remote control or rotating the batteries in it. It's an addictive habit that's worst than cigarettes. Because there's always that 50% chance of it going to plan.. or end in a disastrous mess. Pwahahaha 😂 🤣
For as much as they cost it’s crazy to be having those problems so early on. I have a 2018 and I bought it new, when it hit 20k miles my door lock actuator went out just like that. They had to replace it, luckily it was under warranty.
YES SAME PROBLEM, been to dealership 3 times for customer satisfaction recall fixes, it would work for a day or two. Not a happy customer, but love the truck, purchased new actuators myself and works great now!
Did you do a follow up video showing how to replace the actuator? My 2021 alumiduty front left actuator is starting to sound crunchy and not always moving completely.
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod maaaan the community is thirsty for one! I found several different forum threads asking for procedures but it's pretty dry out here. Found one of a dude explaining it, after he did it, but honestly it's not much help.
We have a 2023 super duty durning the PDI we found that the driver door lock actuator is not working so we replaced it and the new one is still inoperable. Now we are going through the wiring and network to find what it is.
Welcome to the club. My rear door lock actuators broke around 40k miles. At the time there was a recall that only dealt with the lock freezing (doors kind of opened themselves at hughway speeds), and didn't address the freezing also broke the plastic guide labyrinth the lock actuator cable used to connect to the lock. Those were really hard to find for awhile, as apparently I wasn't the only one with the actuator problem.
Hello 👋. Love these options. They are cool 😎 fancy. Convenient. A great help sometimes. Like cameras auto locks. Power windows. Heated and cooled seats. Ect. Ect. When they work right 🤦♂️ 😡 When they don’t work or work right. there. Useless 😳. Have a good day.
AROD, Ive owned Ford trucks, f150, rangers, explorers for many years (30+) and most long term. I've had door actuator issues with every one of them especially after 5 year from new. I'd bet they are the same part#, vendor for a long time.
In this case, I imagine the actuator motor works fine. The motor uses a cable to set the lock, which winds around a plastic part much like a window regulator. It cracks and doesn't keep enough tension or placement of the cable so motor does its thing, but cable goes sideways and lock doesn't get locked/unlocked.
I've only ever had this problem with the chevs and rams I've owned. All my ford's still work perfectly fine and they range from a 2004 f150 to a 22 f550 3.5 ton dump truck. The Fords have been the best company trucks I've bought, the rams were rotting out and falling apart after 5 years and the chevs were always in the shop for transmission and lifter problems.
my '17 spent over 2 months on and off with ford they couldnt figure it out. none of them even made the noise then started doing it on their own needed to manually push and pull open the locks. they had to remove all of the interior and found a shorted out ground under the seats. thank god for ext warranty. woulda been 3200 in labor
About three years ago my right rear actuator failed and I replaced it. However, it was a 2001 F-250 Crew Cab with a sweet 7.3L PSD that I bought new in late 2000!
Is it the actuator or the wiring? My F150 was notorious for having the wires for the drivers side rear door break right in the boot between the door and jamb. It happened 2x in the time I owned that truck. Never been happier to see a truck go bye bye in my life. “They don’t build them like they used to”
If I mashed the unlock button 4 times every time I wanted to unlock the truck, and then 12 times total in 4 seconds, I would 100% expect to burn out the locks.
Just had my driver door lock fixed on my 17 superduty. Same issue but it would work sometimes. My warranty had expired. Ford dealer fixed it no charge under a "special warranty " thinking they are trying to avoid a recall.
Yes I did last year on my passenger door the actuator went bad but still was able to unlock from the inside !! The ford dealer got the part but the tech broke the cable going from the door handle to the actuator... it was at the dealer for two months because it was on national back order for the cable I was pissed
At least it’s a Ford and you can just grab the handle to get out😂 I love it when there are GM people in my truck and they’re looking and trying to figure out how to get the button up to get out.
Sorry that sucks unfortunately that happens sometimes as I'm sure you know but me personally I've never had any problems with my door locks on any of my Super Duties and I've had quite a few because I own a constructon business 🙂
I also have this same problem and am not happy. Ford knows there is an issue with this but won't issue a recall. They had sa.e issue in 2017 and did issue a recall I believe but it was only for that year as they "think" they fixed. They did not. Ford dealer wanted to charge me $350 to fix it. I said no and contemplating some type of laser involvement. My truck only has around 40,000 miles on it.
I knew a guy who had a brand new Chevy Cruze and the door handle fell off before it hit 3000 miles. They tried to say he pulled it too hard but I don’t think someone can accidentally pull too hard on a handle for it to fall off if it was installed correctly.

I own 3 ford powerstroke 16 platinum dually/18 platinum 350 and 21 king ranch dually my 16 is been deleted since new never have a single problem but my 18 and 21 are something else all kind of problem from oil leaks to electrical problems my 21 was in the shop for 8 weeks with only 8k miles bad electrical module that was on back order
Alumadutys are problematic compared to the 11 to 16s. Stupid electrical shit going wrong !!! Almost like a Ram electrical engineer designed it !!! LOL 😂
2020 250 doing the same thing. That’s how I found this video. Had it happen on more than one door and it self corrected. Now my drivers door is doing it and makes me wanna blow it up.
