Well apparently Jaimie Coots wasn't being protected for some reason! My daddy was a snake handler, and it used to fill me with a hellish fear every time I seen him take up one of these deadly snakes. I know people have a right to worship in whatever way they want to, but in my opinion the Bible is not to be taken literally, and when people choose to handle snakes, it's not only dangerous, but it's foolish!

I am Apostolic Pentecostal and most of our churches have musicians playing keyboard, drums, bass, piano/organ and many in the congregation playing tambourines. The church I attend doesn't use amps or microphone because we are a small congregation in a small building, don't have instruments right now, but we still enjoy singing, clapping and some people shout.

They get confused with each other due to their habitat, because copperheads often live near bodies of water, but don't spend nearly as much time actually in water.

One thing i have seen is that if you are handling a copperhead or rattler, when god tells you to put it down and you don't or if you are trying to show-off, you will more than likely to be bit .. . Growing up in redbird, bell, and Leslie ky i know what it looks like...we had the long long hair and really long skirts .. my papaw was a snake handling preacher.. Forster Asher. My dad grew up the same .. James Asher. Pee-Wee .. my sister was handling a copperhead and all of a sudden it went limp. It died. In Psalms it says to praise the Lord with the timbrel (early tambourine) and dance, high sounding cymbals, etc and to make a joyful noise unto the Lord. I am Apostolic Pentecostal and most of our churches have musicians playing keyboard, drums, bass, piano/organ and many in the congregation playing tambourines. The church I attend doesn't use amps or microphone because we are a small congregation in a small building, don't have instruments right now, but we still enjoy singing, clapping and some people shout.

I grew up in these churches. One thing i have seen is that if you are handling a copperhead or rattler, when god tells you to put it down and you don't or if you are trying to show-off, you will more than likely to be bit ..

My dad grew up the same .. James Asher. Pee-Wee .. my sister was handling a copperhead and all of a sudden it went limp. It died. The scripture was talking about the disciples getting bit or getting poisoning. Not us today. One disciple was bitten by a poisonous snake fulfilling that scripture 2000 yrs ago.

Snake handling Christians disobey God's word. The bible does not state that Christians are to purposefully handle venomous snakes. A literal interpretation of Mark 16:18 is incorrect. If you are a Christian and believe Mark 16:18 means to literally handle venomous snakes, you are wrong and don't know how to interpret God's word!
