  • In our first few Albania vlogs we mentioned how interesting this country is - exploring the Tirana Pyramid just backs that up. The history of Albania and the... ⬇ More Below ✈ Our 220 page guide on how to travel non-stop - geni.us/9VHNx
Tirana really has surprised us in the best way possible, in fact Albania as a whole has been really enjoyable to travel. If you're willing to go beyond what you see as a tourist - from the art and the culture, the colour and vibrance, and really understand how Albania got here and why Tirana has an enormous pyramid in the middle of the city... then you're doing it right.
Tirana Pyramid was originally built for the dictator responsible of Albanias sad communism history, Enver Hoxa. These days it just sits there, abandoned in the middle of Tirana but ever so slightly hidden behind these small barriers... which confused us to begin with, assuming we weren't allowed in there to get close at all.
If you've watched all 3 of our Albania vlogs so far you'd see what we mean, it's such a contrasted city between this bright new colours of areas like Blloku and these abandoned buildings like the Tirana Pyramid and the nuclear bunkers everywhere. As tourists, travellers and content creators we'd be irresponsible if we didn't actually tackle some of these sensitive subjects to share. In saying that, from this point on we take an epic road trip south of Albania to the riviera and it's all about exploring vlogs!

I think Albania is one of the most underrated countries out there. I myself have never even considered going to Albania until I met my Albanian boyfriend who primarily lives in Greece. I love your vlogs about Tirana and even the ride along ones. You guys make these bunkers episode even exciting to explore 😅. It sounds like it’s a huge part of Albania with lots of interesting history behind it. I think it would be a cool idea to turn some of these bigger bunkers into an Airbnb. I’m sure there are plenty of adventurers that would stay in it for the experience including me and my boyfriend. Sort of similar to a tree house concept which is one of my bucketlist to stay in 🥰.

Finally, you're over the 100,000 mark. Nobody deserves it more than you two. Congrats!
PS I think it will be far cheaper and technically easier to demolish the pyramid and repurpose the site, rather than try to restore it, I think. It was built as a giant mausoleum for a bloody tyrant who was more Stalinist than Stalin and more Maoist than Mao, and who had reduced Albania to the condition of North Korea. Kudos to Albania for shaking off this kind of heritage relatively quickly and peacefully.

@@DanegerAndStacey The work it will start within 2 months, lasting approximately less than 2 years to turned that pyramid into a technology centre for the young generation.
It will be a cool project transformation. They are going to build stairs from outside supported by rails on the sides, so everybody can get to the top of the pyramid safely.
It looks amazing the new design project. Everybody can climb up, sit there and get a nice view of the city. The interior side will be transformed completely, even building a cinema and a way through for pedestrians to cross from this side of the street to other side of the street. It will be airy, full of light and quite busy, especially with young generation.
      Looking forward to it....

It will have steps in few sides to climb and it will be perfectly safe to do so for everybody, not only for the courageous and adventurers ones.

That pyramid in the center of Tirana as you say was built as a memorial museum for the dead Albanian dictator Enver Hoxha.
Today there ia debate whether to demolish it or preserve it to remind people of the past.
Last time I looked in to it they were thinking of building a development over and around it.

I have subscribed and will be viewing the rest of the videos too. Love the work you guys are doing. I love the details and it shows you both work very hard on your videos. I wish the best of luck to you for all your upcoming projects. On a side note, nothing to do with the vlog itself, my personal experience of the Albanian people who come to the UK from Albania is very bad. I have met quite a few Albanians and most of them are rude, intimidating and show aggressiveness for no particular reason. That is why I am afraid to even interact with them. I wish if the people become nice like their country, it would become a hot tourist destination.

@Edona Zhuta Thanks for pointing that out. But I do meet Albanians very often including many from other European nations due to the nature of my work. Every country has good and bad people which is normal. But I am very sad to say that Albanians are one of the most unfriendly people I have ever come across who have problems with everything anyone does. They want it their way or there is no other way. And this is not just a single incidence. There are many occasions where I had to tell them politely to look elsewhere. They maybe hospitable in their own country but as soon as they are in the UK, things are different. I am not saying everyone is like this but majority are.

Pyramid building is torn down that the primeminister plans to be a cultural center, as the previous government sought to make the ALB parliament.
Now, primeminister mr.Rama has reconstructed all the buildings you have filmed, this will take time to change and not look bad on tourists.
But albanians are demanding that the city's identity remain unchanged. So, as throughout the world, there are changes of identity with moderate materials.
It is right to not lose too much of a city's identity, not like New York (big city).

    5:16 "I'm going, bye"... LoL...
Almost as if Albania has been hidden behind a veil (Communism, socialism, or just too far "East" for most people) for many years...
And now that people are seeking less tourist soaked places to escape to it has been "discovered"... :/
I'm guessing it means people there haven't lost their bashful, but helpful personalities...
Congrats on passing 100k subs... Bring on the beach... :)

It definitely felt that way being there as well - its a gem, the people were all so lovely and speak amazing English. Only a matter of time before more people start pilling in no doubt.
