Hello hope all is well, interesting adventure you guys took. It seems reasonably priced to get around. The beach looked amazing and very popular. Agree lots of history. And seeing the tourist spots and again very reasonable charge to get in. Thanks for sharing, look forward to the next.take care
The average Albanian makes around 600 euro per month, so you can imagine how the costs are. If you stay out of the tourist areas, it is even far more affordable.
@@craigzievis2074 nice! We really enjoyed our time spent visiting Pogradec. You'll have to check out the stadium and football, that is quite the experience! We don't have 1 year visa free in AL, so the longest we can stay is 3 months per 6. We are moving to the balkans full time in early 2024.
They are building a high speed rail line from Tirana to Durres and to the airport which will be completed by next summer and expected to be in operation by winter 2025 the latest.
@@tjandbtraveling the aiport is going to be in Vlore.. and they are building a tunnel for bus to go down the riviera. The infrastructure will be way ahead of everything else. It is going to be chaos. Jumbo jets will finally fly direct to Albania. I don't thikn it will be busy in the off season though. IT seems to me that people flock their for 3 months at most, mainly from Italy.
1:30 The bus situation is interesting. They're building a new Tirana-Durres railway that will finish early next year, it will cost less than the bus and will only take 21 minutes to get from Tirana. The other thing is that Tirana has already built an actual bus terminal instead of this glorified parking lot full of mini vans, yet haven't opened it up yet for god knows what reason. It will take until 2030 for Albania to become a decent country but it is getting there. Thank you for your visit and hope you enjoy what it has to offer currently.
It’s already more than a decent country it offers so much for very low prices but in 2030 it will have much better infrastructure with the new airport in Vlore, the new high speed train line, the new Durres Yacht and Marina Development as well as the new Thumane-Kashar highway.
@@invader7191 So it's not a decent country yet then LOL? Croatia just recently became a decent country, we're roughly a decade behind them in terms of everything. By 2030 you'll be able to call it a good country.
@@bletrick3352 actually Croatia was better before it joined the EU, now it’s more of an overpriced Disneyland where a crappy hamburger costs 20€. Croats are leaving Croatia more than ever before due to the insane cost of living. I’ve traveled all over the balkans and I can say Albania offers the most for your money especially the tasty organic food which you won’t find in the richer countries like Croatia.
@@invader7191 Sounds like you’re coping hard my man. Croatia is a decade ahead in terms of infrastructure, this is factos, or are you trying to suggest otherwise? I don’t give a damn about costs cuz that has nothing to do with development. Albanians are leaving Albania in droves too mate. Albania is at the same stage in terms of development as Croatia pre EU. We’re 10 years behind them due to the 90s being lost years for us as communism falling and the 1997 pyramid schemes destroyed the economy. Just accept the reality man it’s all good things will get better and better each passing year.
Very informative video. I am visitng Tirana next month, can you remember what day/date you visited Durres? The bus journey is the only thing I would hestiate over. Many thanks.

The beach was very popular with the locals, some come for a bit longer

I took the train from Tirana to Durres for a dollar something in 2010. The bus from Tirana to Shkoder was 2.
Such a great country I bought a house there!

Hello, please tell me, on which beach did you swim? It was very clear water in the sea with stones!❤

interesting, the beaches will need to be prepared to cope with that many people

Durres is not a very nice place for tourists. The better beaches are on the other side of the marina, to the south.
Thanks for the comment Mark! We found it was nice, maybe just for a day at a time though...
@@tjandbtraveling I agree completely. We stayed 2 days and it was enough. We really enjoyed Ksamil.

Lalzi bay is the best beach in Durres area.

Who wants to lay down on a Benidorm like beach?

durres, one of the shittiest cities in albania, after tirana.
