Koa mentions he had a bad day in the surf, and it looks pretty good to most of us average guys.
"Endless Summer" makes no sense for big wave riders. Should be "Endless Winter". Or possibly "Beatdowns Around the World."
It's more the idea of the warm weather, the general sense of young freedom, and being out from dawn to dusk. In places like the Gold Coast, S/SE Pacific, Hawaii (for much of the year), S California, Baja, Caribbean, etc. you're gonna be quite comfortable in shorts and a tank throughout the entire year. Winter in Hawaii translates to a pretty similar, unchanged place, to any non-native, besides the current, waves, and walkable beach/sand coverage. To most, they hear endless winter and relate bitter cold temps, layers upon layers, snow, cold winds, themes of being inside 20x more than normal, limited time outside, warm fires, hot drinks, etc.

I've become a fan of this channel. I body surfed as a kid. I loved humongo waves that towered over me, which ... I don't think ever got more than about 6 ft. high, ha, ha, ha. Man, I love the beach. And, rips never scared me, either. I could just swim out of all of them parallel to the shoreline.
Now, that I am older, I am a bit more cautious which is why I like watching OTHER people risk their necks out of bitchin' waves.

Im 53 now and live where there is no waves only crocodiles in Australia. Surfed from a young age along the South Coast of Victoria Australia and got nothing but a natural high being out in 10 feet plus. Surfed over Bali into my middle ages and now really miss it big time. Thank you man, I can now watch your epic footage through your world tour of amazing waves that takes me back as a young fella.

@@kc72186 ah man. Boats are wayyyyy better than drinking. Hopefully you realize this sooner rather than later. I had this realization late, and after much harder drugs were being used daily. The surf community has a lot of people in recovery and Im trying to get back on the horse

Tavarua's "Restaurants" surf break is the best left in the world. Best right (I have never surfed it) looks to be "Snapper Rocks". Tell me I am wrong?!

I get Koa loves this country's break (especially cloud break) but I disagree that it's the world's best wave .it might be the world's most consistent big wave spot but as far as long barrels Nope .that's the north shore .as far as long ride times waves that you can ride for 45 seconds or longer for doing countless bottom turned and off the lip slashing .tricks (overall funnest surfing experience) Nope .that spot go's to Indonesia Bali uluwata and the Ment islands .but this is my opinion .I've yet to see any surf trips to those spots Koa ? It's like your stuck on "cloud breaks" and Mexico trips when your away from home .No disrespect intended whatsoever .love watching Koa's videos

how do you decide who takes their turn on the wave? especially on big ones like cloudbreak where its busy
lot of mind reading involved, no formal system. depends on how long someone has been waiting and his position when paddling for the wave and also how good they are and how committed they are while paddling.
