Living in Michigan, I'm surrounded by water but rarely get to see big waves unless it's October, November on Lake Superior, occasionally Lake Michigan. I hope to make out to the West Coast one day to see this in person, but until then, thank you for keeping that dream alive for me by sharing videos like this and Merry Christmas!!
You're not wrong, and the Eddie should be run at Jaws. Waimea pales in comparison... Shane Dorian and a bunch of others paddle into this with their eyes closed, get tubed and spat out (it's on video), while at Waimea they straighten out, ride the mush, or get buried by white water 9 times out of 10, and they call it epic...
Featuring Inaldo Vieira, Albee Layer, Ty Simpson Kane, Luke Walsh, Ramon Rode, Shaun Lopez, Shaun Walsh, DK Walsh, Yuri Soledade, Austin Kalama, Antonio Laureano, and others! If you recognize anyone else please let me know!

the skidoo drivers are as much acrobats of water as the surfers - thanks for including them. they could do triple twists off of waves the surfers aren't positioned for.
After watching a few times it’s clear Albee burns the line of someone paddling that beast that closes him. Was there a bit of beef for Albee not to let him have that wave ?
@@surfshack2 the amount of pickups and people being rescued was insane! 3-5 waves till they could be picked up was crazy to watch in person! So much respect for these guys
And don't forget the pussies who use a gasoline powered jet ski so they can get towed into the perfect spot, and then they get towed out when the wave is over so they don't have to swim. That ruins it big time.

@@mevert87 thank you bro!! Such an amazing day to be there
*The 2nd wave was always the best!! Ocd was in overdrive lol beautiful video!!*
Have to say it -- the waves at Jaws are on a magnitude of 2-3 times better than Waimea. And so is Mavericks.
*10 times
Waimea is where big wave surfing began.
@@markdougherty526 I thought the same thing when we were out there watching it! Waimea is legendary though!
@@TimFisherMedia do u confirm teahupoo is the best wave of the planet ?

Epic wave heights - unbelievable surfing and visual and audio
Unbelievable cheating! Using a gasoline powered engine to catch a wave? That's not surfing!

I watched Mavericks from earlier this week and this is so much more intense! Pushing it to the limits. Shout out to the riders and support crews.
