so proud of dodie. Just thinking about how I've been following them since 2014, playing music in their bedroom, then I finally got to see them performed live in 2022, and now they got to be at the Kennedy Center performing with the NSO! I just got emotional seeing how far dodie has come my eyes are teary
I love how she smiles so brightly when she gets to the claps, and the two guys behind her clapping along are so unphased. It's kind of hilarious. Fantastic song and performance either way!
i can only imagine how amazing of an experience this was! from writing lonely bones in lockdown, finally perfoming it on tinydesk, then now with an orchestra is so beautiful
I thought that the version of 'Lonely Bones' which dodie performed in her Tiny Desk concert was good, but this version is even better. It is heartwarming to see young people writing and performing acoustic music. Thanks so much for this!
still so sad I wasnt able to be there, but it's so precious to have these recordings, Dodie, Laufey, and Jacob are absolutely some of the most musical artist of this era
Yes Laufey and Jacob are talented, but in my opinion, neither come to close to dodie in terms of timeless and the pared back nature of her melody and harmony and how it all comes together. The full effect of this song does NOT come through in this arrangement due to the lack of the important vocal harmonies.
I feel like this performance is the culmination of Dodie's entire career up to this point. All of the beauty of her style matched with maturity of her soul that she has achieved... This feels vindicating, like this beauty is not just deserved, but inevitable.
I didn't know who was Dodie, and this beauty song. Thanks to her presentation with Laufey and Jacob I came here, and this is an incredible song, what an artist is Dodie. I don't understand why this performance doesn't has the views that deserver
dodie’s love of harmonies has always been a signature, but I’m glad to see that grander orchestration has become more of the norm, too. (I’ve lost count of how many vlogs mention how fun it is to write string sections.) I’m surprised (and a bit sad) that this performance didn’t include some kind of crowd participation at the end. My understanding, based on dodie’s telling, is that having the piece be something you can collectively sing when you’re together is part of the intent of the song. Maybe there was some hesitance to take attention away from the orchestra’s performance? Or maybe dodie wanted a softer, more airy version for this venue? Whatever the case, I’d encourage those who are new to the piece to watch a performance with it included as well.
oh this version needs like an adorable stop motion animated music video. so pretty!!
I might make one!
That's some Weepies level stuff! It would be perfect!
If and when I have the time…challenge accepted- 🫡💐

That line ‘in the grand scheme / I’ve got a plan, see’ is gold. This is wonderful

She’s always sounded good but she sounds just amazing here!

Someone who agrees with me ❤
Just what I think
oh wow i got top comment here! hey guys!
Also Samara Joy and Cynthia Erivo like they've been in the game for so long and remain under rated. I love laufey but it doesn't seem fair
love laufey but yes dodie has been such an underrated artist!

Is this series getting an album release?? And aah I just noticed Suzie Collier in the symphony there too, that's great!
Just wait till the release the bit Suzie and Jacob performed that night! There’s still plenty more to come!
her voice is so enchanting and her music style is simply beautiful!!
I feel so emotional and proud 🥲
The voice from Dodie always transports me to magical places. And this version was simply superb. What an amazing performance.
