  • @Quiet-storm

    The pin is supposed to float in the piston. Did you put the Spiro locks on each side of the piston pin holes?

    • @mikekisch5563
      @mikekisch5563  ปีที่แล้ว

      i locked the pin in with the locks. the problem is the pin was tighter on the rod than it was on the piston. i still think i would have done that again

    • @Quiet-storm
      @Quiet-storm ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mikekisch5563 from what I saw the pin was too tight on the small end of the rod.
      You could have had the small end of the rod honed so you have proper clearances. Obviously all of those bores and diameters needed to be measured and then calculate the clearances.

    • @kellysprayberry8163
      @kellysprayberry8163 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wondered about that too. You see them both ways, full floating with spiral locks or like I believe on a small block Ford, the wrist pin is press fitted into the small end of the rod and you usually have to heat the rod to get it pressed out. Idk. Best wishes. I have the N844 Shibaura in my 1988 Ford 1920 that I need to rebuild. Always good to see as much on these as one can.

      mikes machine shop said it was a kubota knock off engine, its a pretty simple engine, i didnt like the design of the main crankshaft bearing seems over complicated. im sure they have there reasons for the design.

    • @kellysprayberry8163
      @kellysprayberry8163 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mikekisch5563 I don’t know if it’s a knock off, but Shibaura manufactured the tractors for Ford and New Holland for years. There are N843 and N844 series of that engines in 1220,1320,1520,1720,1920 and 2120 tractors that eventually turned into the TC series New Holland tractors over on the New Holland tractor group, they speak highly of those Japanese tractors especially over new ones today. I think they were purchased by Perkins and are maybe the same as the 202 series Perkins/Caterpillar engines. Stephen Cox has a few videos on rebuilds. Those might be good references maybe. Best wishes and thank you for posting your videos.
