OW1 Bastion made a lot more sense, Bastion was an old war robot that was brutal at killing. The self repair and simple sentry mode with no movement fit the character of a slow, but incredibly powerful war machine. The new ultimate does actually make more sense then the tank mode in terms of how he transforms but in gameplay the artilley strike needs a buff or some other change
Agreed, I find myself only getting kills with it if I hit a 200 health character twice consecutively (so long as they're on full health), and the limited time you have to actually get these down makes it difficult to lead targets. What I would do is the following: Make it a flat 600 damage across the whole AOE. Overpowered? Maybe, but consider D.Vas ultimate and the fact that this is, as stated, an ultimate, within which you are a completely vulnerable target. Make it so that it effectively has the properties of a beam weapon, because I suppose I get defence matrix destroying it, but deflect? It's better to just not have it be destructible in the first place.
@@airrider-jk9ik No, I think the same. New gun looks like a plastic toy gun, old gun looked like an actual gun. In fact most of the new textures looks less detailed.
his gun looks a little wierd in 1st person, but overall i like the new skin more. the whole point of bastions new skin is to make him look like Torbjorn had added some upgrades to his armour.
@@c.alexander4199 wouldn't say more "tech-y", more like...colorful and cartoony, I mean OW is pretty cartoony but now you just see all these scifi-y edges and LEDs and spikey bits everywhere, like what they did with OW2 Lucio xD. Bastion gun from OW1 looks more like sth from...let's say Cyberpunk 2077, but in OW2, it's more like...idk, Star Trek.
@@sivel7493 Gotta remember that ow1 Bastion was a war machine where as ow2 is an upgraded modernised bastion made by Torb, that’s why he looks less grounded it’s like comparing base Orisa to her or15-or14 skins. He is a unique being now not a generic mass produced E54
I know the old Bastion wasn’t particularly great for the game, and he’s much better now, but a part of me still misses the old Bastion kit. Being able to self heal, or hunkering down in an unexpected position near a choke and catching the enemy off guard, or getting a bunch of kills with the tank form…
@@friendlyfire3412 I meant the way he plays is better for the state of the game as a whole. It makes him more engaging to play and play against than just dealing with a stationary turret. I do agree his grenade and ult could use some buffs though. The grenade is fun though, you can use it as a little “rocket jump”. I imagine when Torbjorn upgraded him he added a little grenade compartment to his arm. Doesn’t have to make a lot of sense anyway
Idea for a rework get his old ult as a ability half and the grenade will be a secondary fire ability that has 3 shots before reloading obviously damage would be reduced
In my opinion I love the new bastion rework the fact he can become a turret tank and become a mortar, but I still think they should of kept the self heal because the grenade isn't practical and the fact 99% of the time it's physics break making it stuck on walls and not players
I think the grenade just makes sense because self heal for a dps is kinda weird, but the grenade is so bad. The should make it do…like actual damage, and let it be more amiable so you’re not throwing it at a wall

What’s odd is that Bastion still has an extra ability slot, so he could totally have both the grenade AND self-heal. They likely took the self-heal out to encourage relying on support, but that would make no sense as Soldier still has a heal. I would like it back personally, but Bastion is in a very good state rn so he likely won’t get it back.
I like his old recon mode better the old primary made it feel at least more usable in gunfights and it wasn’t a complete throw if you didn’t want to use the turret mode
@@James-xw8li well, in cinematics and comics, as far as I remember, there were no bastions in howitzer mode. Or bastions with grenades. So most likely Torbjorn did it. Although let's be honest, what engineer in their right mind would remove a self-repair from a terminator itself, a stationary turret in exchange for a time-limited mobile turret and artillery instead of a mobile tank?
I honestly prefer bastions old kit over his new kit, and being able to be more independent with the self heal and having to be a vital tank shredder but also with me being a stationary target I'm a lot more vulnerable to flankers and snipers. (I also like Orisa's old kit as well.)

Old bastion was better in every way possible it’s sound, it’s grounded Sifi design, it’s “bastion idea”and balance. Now bastion rework make him less of a “bastion” and less of anything. it doesn’t have solid damage output anymore. Hell even 76 have more dps now days. is ult requires even less skills than before. And don’t even talk about the grenade and it’s grenade jump tech is so trash. Especially when you can’t even “set up”. The parkour is useless you don’t even have places to set up ( why need to find high ground when you can move around instead setting up for a good place). Plus your big hit box without its passive. Is just garbage it made him more reliant on healers and less reliant on dps. seriously just play solider is just batter than bastion in any way possible.- by a guy who’s a bastion main that have played over 1000 hours
I don’t think he’s completely ruined, and his sound mechanics and aspects of his new costume are so much better. They just need to rework his grenade, and change his ult.
As a bastion main myself, I don't think you are understanding the point of a damage hero. The clue is in the name: damage. They aren't supposed to be able of wandering off on their own and coming back unscathed, no hero is apart from tanks. Bastion is designed to roll with the team, getting support while still having a damage output that kills most heroes in seconds. Maybe soldier 76 does have better dps, but do you know what else he has? Less health and horrible recoil. The grenade I have found works to great effect so long as you are accurate, and if you are talking about the fact that it doesn't bounce all the time, that's because it only bounces off of walls, and i find it works most of the time. Furthermore, surely having an ultimate requiring less skill is a good thing, making it more accessible to people who just picked up the character? Now, because your English is, frankly, horrible, I struggled to understand this bit, but presumably by 'set up' you mean that you can't stay in one place as well as before and just mow people down. That's a very astute observation, because if you wanted to be a high damage person who camp's in one spot, you should've picked widowmaker. The fact that people could just camp in one spot and destroy anyone who came through the door is likely the very reason they changed it in the first place! Unless you are a sniper, you aren't supposed to be in one spot, the whole point of being a team is that you go together. So long as you play smart and have good support, your big hit box shouldn't be an issue. This is my opinion on it, and it feels like you just want to go back to the days when bastion could singlehandedly win any match, a thing that is considered by the vast majority of the world, incredibly boring.
@@Probablyademon I still want his old ult back. You can call me unskilled because I am but his ult before was fun to use. His ult now feels boring. In addition to that, they also removed his old ult sound.
@@Probablyademon I totally understand you guy, I've played bastion myself for almost a thousand hours and it's triggering that if the healer goes away for a second damn you're dead, sombra... how am I going to stay alive when I can't heal myself
they still retain the original skin and that skin from original overwatch is called "overwatch 1" in the skin selection menu. the skin used in the video is "overwatch 2", however despite how they look the icon will still always display the new skin. same goes for every other heroes.

the entire game looks worse overall. They basically just added more lighshafts but the textures are more plain.

Imo, he should've been switched to tank instead of Doom. It would just got more since he was kinda the closet thing to a tank except Mei

Everything about his kit is better for the game apart from his ult. tank used to be so much better, now it’s just a crappy version of dooms ult.
Yeah, I like the mortar but idk why it was necessary to get rid of the tank form.

I miss just staying on one position with bastion in config mode and miss his self healing
