Never would have thought that a zerg challenge would be so fun to watch since you're a Terran it keeps getting more interesting each episode
During the first episode, when thermy said that he often loses overlords for no reason as zerg, I didn't believe him, but holy crap I'm a believer now.
I feel like this kind of build is very lore accurate to Zerg. The sort of unfeeling aggression, but also the simplicity. Hive insects are able to accomplish complicated tasks with individuals following very simple rules. You can almost imagine that drones have an instinct that when they discover an enemy base they burrow into the ground and start gestating into a hatchery. Simultaneously they start sending out a psionic call which attracts Zerglings to protect the hive. That just kind of feels like evolution, you know? It has this weird way of arriving at solutions to problems which you might not think of at first, and sometimes it seems needlessly awkward, but it also has a scary efficiency to it.
God I love Zerg
Not to mention how everything goes especially wrong when the Zerglings get in during game 2. It was sort of okay when it was "just" a Hatchery, but once the Zerglings got in, that's when the true infestation started!
Except that's not how Zerg works in lore, because they're governed by intelligent beings.
This might be able to be said for leaderless Zerg after their cerebrate is killed, but that's usually described as them just becoming mindlessly aggressive and rudderless - which doesn't sound expansive in this way at all.
You've produced some great material so far, but this series is a whole new level! Definitely enjoying the chaos that ensues :D Your ability to comment through all of it really makes it outstanding quality!

I was a CS 1.5 guy (never any good really) but you have that same kind of competitiveness that is so so good to watch! Love your SC2 play no matter what race you place or what you do! Try the florencio proxy hatch. Double up two drones on a gas so they look like one and mineral walk them into enemy main. Split them in the main in fog of war; one goes to scout/harrass one sneaks into the corner and becomes a hatch.
Just wanted to say that I really appreciate the diverse content. Not sure if it's there already, but I can't wait to start seeing Protoss content too!

U Thermal, have you seen the tactic in Z vs Z, where you cancel a proxy hatch just to get a tiny amount of creep and start a spine crawler? Then attack with the spine and slow zerglings?
I grew up playing singleplayer SC 2 and now watching you playing the roach burrow combo really brought back some good memories I loved playing Zerg great content love the cheese in tournaments videos watched all of them. PROXY HATCH TO GM BABYYYYYY

but yes, the scout was definitely before the hatch first timing. your proxy hatch is basically a "normal" hatch first with only 3 seconds delay (50s vs 47s) somehow. bottom spawn insta-scout into proxy 16 hatch with drone stacking may actually get the exact same timing as a top spawn 16 hatch with no/worse drone stacking.

What's interesting is just today I had a ZvP and the guy tried this, tipped me off asking if I was ready to lose st the beginning" sure enough I scout a proxy hatch but he made it in my natural and couldn't get the creep up my hill fast enough, shut him down with one stalker micro, a cannon and a void ray
Ok it's one thing to comment while you're playing Terran because you said you do most of it in autopilot, but to see you commenting while playing all of this crazy Zerg builds is just amazing

These in-base proxy hatch games are so entertaining because they're so dynamic and improvisational. Much more fun than executing set builds like a machine.

The issue you're describing at the start often happens to me on borderless fullscreen when I do stuff on another screen when waiting for a match. Usually clicking on the 2nd screen and then back on the game screen fixes it :) hope that helps in the future

Love all the videos! When will you do the Warm Bowl of Soup challenge? Every gamer has tried to play SC while eating - how high can your APM be while eating? Bonus points to finish the soup while it is still warm.
Beating a cannon rush with proxy hatch is the Starcraft equivalent of the Uno reverse card

have to say that back in the glory days of bloodwar i watched a game between boxer and some other gosu and boxer played zerg and rush the protoss with lings with burrow and there lings all around his base it was fun game

Due to some kind of bug in matchmaking I as 3.4k mmr zerg was matched against 5.7k Rank 37 gm EU Protoss who tried to cannon rush me, and I managed to win with a reactive proxy hatch in his main + burrowed roaches. Dont think I couldve won without ur strat popping into my head after scouting the cannons. Thanks

that bug with mouse is typically a problem with overlays, like discord or steam overlay or geforce or some other overlays.

Do proxy hatch lings and banelings work? Then transition to nydus would be fun to see, while attacking the natural you also drop nydus in the main that would be a total chaos.

Curious, how many hours u think u've played sc total over the years? Did u play sc bw/sc1? I must have played 8k alone in sc bw, and another 2k in sc "shareware". Sc shareware was free but tvt only, so Terran was always my best. Ur best is Terran right?

Definitely going to get to grandmaster with this challenge. Might be a slog once you get higher up in masters though where people deal with the proxy better. Looking forward to it regardless though!
