    A very strong advantage of this case is the MATX support. Avoiding the ITX "Tax" might allow budget & SFF to meet somewhere in the middle. Plus the ventilation here looks excellent.

      There is no ITX tax..its just a myth in the youtuber world for some reason.

    • @greenprotag
      @greenprotag ปีที่แล้ว +42

      @@TheTastefulThickness on average, compact and powerful GPUs, and ITX motherboards, and other support components ARE more expensive. Take for example the 4060 LP. It's $30-40 more expensive than a basic 4060. Most ITX motherboards are also significantly more expensive than their equivalent MATX boards. Occasionally, you'll find cheap ITX cases like this one for $70. However, if you look at the feature set and the cost, you could probably get just as much out of a $30-40 mid tower case with the only difference being the size.
      Smaller power supplies can be expensive too. Buying a 600w SFX or Flex ATX is more expensive than buying a simple ATX bronze or gold unit. There is no actual "tax" its just a way of saying building smaller there will be either an increase in cost or a loss in performance or both. Small and cheap? Likely lower performing. Small and powerful? Likely more expensive. This is just how it works.

    • @TheTastefulThickness
      @TheTastefulThickness ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@greenprotag A good motherboard costs 220-350 bucks across the board. There is no real category of GPU's that are "compact and powerful" - i have no idea what you're talking about, thats not a category that exists. The 4060 is basically the only example you can even point to. Dont give me edge cases. Cases - you said it yourself, 70 dollar case. Lots of SFF cases fit a full size power supply anyway. A Lian Li SFX 750 watt is $115 bucks right now - the first name brand full size modular PSU at 750watts is 95 dollars. Its a MYTH.

    • @greenprotag
      @greenprotag ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheTastefulThickness Zero myth. You pointed out a price difference in PSU right there and +$10-20 per part adds up quickly. There is a "compact and powerful" category of GPUs. Look at the most powerful low profile GPU or "ITX" single fan GPU like the MSI Aero itx. The "Best" version of those cards of the past 4-5 generations have been more expensive AND rare. MSI Aero 3060 ti was nearly $1000 for a VERY long time, even when 3070 full size cards dropped below MSRP, because it was "best in slot" for the form factor. The same was true for the itx variant of the 2070 AND 1080 when they were "best". When you follow this hardware closely enough, you will realize there IS a cost increase. The smaller you go, the harder and more expensive it can get. Can you be more economical if you make compromises? Sure. A single fan 3060 doesn't really see a price increase. Used A2000s have been coming down in price now that they are no longer the most powerful in slot for size. If you get used or 2nd or 3rd string options the "tax" is elevated because there is very little cost increase on 2nd best and 3rd best cards.

      I have a Sapphire Pulse RX 7800 XT and it's the closest one can get to being 'low profile' since it has a dual-fan design. At 267x111x50mm, you'd be hard pressed to find something smaller that boasts similar power (the Intel Arc A770 LE is smaller, but it's performance is on par with a 3060 Ti or 6650). There's also the RTX Quadro line of discreet low profile cards, but they're more or less aimed at workstation setups and not ideal for gaming - I'm pretty sure a $14k card wouldn't make much practical sense.

    I wish there were more cases like this one, which don't require any riser cable to install the gpu
    Any recomendations on where I can find more cases like this one?

    What is the smaller case that fits the 4060 LP ? Sadly the A02 from your 1650 build only fits GPUs up to 175mm.

    I purchased a RTX 3050 for an ITX build back in February for $200. The 4600 would be a nice upgrade, but I can't rationalize it.

      Don't VRAM is still 8gb so won't be able to play 2024 games smoothly.

      @@deadpain2483 - VRAM doesn't affect smoothness of play. You just can't use the highest-resolution textures.

      in a regular case with case fans yes.. in this case theres a decent chance it throttles

    • @skyionBS

      @akaRAIJIN ปีที่แล้ว

      @@skyionBS I don't have that case personally so I can't be 100%. But I would imagine it would thermal throttle yeah. It's fine in cases with decent airflow though, the 5600x is pretty efficient

    6:34 CPU Fan wrongly installed. Down side fan is pushing outside and top fan is pushing inside.. air collision will happen and you will not get good result in terms of performance.

    How is the fan setup in this build?
    I assumed your CPU fan was drawing from the board up through the heatsink (so blowing air from the sides, onto board, then out through the heatsink), but then you placed a 120 right above it saying you draw air in, so they're blowing air right into each other, the CPU fan blowing hot air into the incoming cold air from the 120.
    Doesn't seem like a good choice, unless both are pointing towards the mobo, in which case you're blowing cold air from the outside onto the mobo, but also the CPU heatsink's hot air straight back onto the mobo.
