      Being native I can tell you my hair doesn’t take bleach I had it bleached at a salon it was bleached 3 times and only got to light brown and I only wanted it light enough to put a teal on top .

    • @poshniall
      @poshniall ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Nizhonibearcreek only light enough for teal??? you need it a level 10 for teal lol. you need to use a very low developer and take a very long time and a lot of product to get platinum in one go. or else it will turn out orange so light brown

    • @grrrlgrrrms
      @grrrlgrrrms ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@poshniall i was able to get teal hair over level 8 :) my natural level is a 2 so i didn’t want to cause excess damage
      i used a blue semi permanent and mixed it with an aquamarine tone, both were very pigmented shades for the line i was using so that’s why i suspected it came out beautifully on my hair. i also think adding the blue helped it cancel out some of that orange yellow tone underneath
      you just have to know good colour theory to achieve the colour you want! unless you want it to be pastel then of course you will need to be a level 9-10, especially for cool toned colours
      also, if you’re having problems lightening the hair over multiple sessions, it likely has to do with the resistant porosity of your hair, especially if it’s very healthy, but the strength of the bleach should open the cuticle right up and allow it to lift the pigment out, so i’m not sure how it couldn’t work.

    Rachel Maksy was trying to achieve completely different results- using a color remover to go from semi permanent dark brown to red (She’s s natural blonde who dyed her hair red for years then tried brown for a change). Going from black dye to light blonde to blend greys is a big task without a professional colorist!

    • @onlyalittlebitnerdy
      @onlyalittlebitnerdy ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Rachel achieved some color removal but it wasn’t as light as her original red- resulting in her disappointment. Then after using the color remover, I think she made the mistake that HB mentions at the end of this video i.e. She didn’t rinse out all the loose pigments on the lengths, because when she went over it with red color it turned darker again. Ultimately between cutting off some of her length & bleaching (& using extensions/half wigs! Haha) she’s “restored” her coppery red!

    As a hairdresser who has a lot of experience coloring their hair (and also removing haircolor), I've noticed that a lot of these color removers are mainly made for semi/demi-permanent color, neither of which lift the hair to deposit color. I'm going to assume she used black box dye on her hair, and box dye is typically permanent color. Permanent haircolor lifts your hair before depositing color. So if you're lucky enough to find a color remover that works on permanent haircolor, you will definitely not see your natural hair color, even with all artificial pigment removed.

    When my hair is orange, I use mix blue toner wella T50 with like T35 and/or T27 to tone it down for a cooler tone.
    All they have to do is look at the color wheel and go to the opposite color for a cooler tone. For yellow use purple toner for orange use blue toner. Google is our friend.
    Also the level of developer matters. If you’re not a professional (like me) I would NOT use a 40 developer (that’s for the pros) I stay in my lane with the 20 developer. pH balance matters and a purple shampoo dries out your hair so use a moisturizing condition with purple shampoo. I’m still a work in progress…

(We didn't have TH-cam and internet was still dial-up).😂 but I learned as I went but my hair was FRIED for years lol. Finally learned about colour chemistry and theory for my hair about 18 years ago which before you do your hair you NEED to know this very basic information. Still boggles my mind that with all the stylists and professionals online and videos that are available that people are still going ahead and ignoring the very basics 😂 and still frying their hair and messing up. (Helps to know your hair type as well and if you are unsure just pop into a hair salon and ask them to look at your hair for a minute and they will tell you what type of hair you have...it costs nothing to ask). 😊

    The only damage I've ever gotten from color removers (like Color Oops) was from having to wash multiple times and the RINSING. Dried my hair right out. But, in trying to combat that, I also got rid of the HORRID smell. For some reason, Garnier Whole Blends Honey conditioner made it disappear. Next time I washed my hair, there was a subtle hint, but using the conditioner again got rid of it completely. Nothing else has ever worked.

      I've used colour removers and never had damage, this woman had unrealistic expectations - especially thinking she didn't need bleach, I sat here rolling my eyes. My sister put a dark brown on her hair, a frigging box dye, even though I had told her not to and that I would do her hair (cover grey) in her natural light brown auburn colour, so I had the job of getting rid of it, I used one colour remover and got all of that dark brown out, I also made her bend over the bathtub so I could rinse it for 10+ mins, no damage whatsoever.

Don't have to wash/rinse as much and doesn't stink AS much, but works great. I had a line of color like the girl in the video, darker ends cuz they are more porous, and thus stuff removed it and evened everything out. Sadly I didn't have any Garnier conditioner left. These products work for me, because I use semi permanent (marketed as 8 to 12 wash dyes). They stink to high hell, though, so I would rather wait months for it to fade naturally.
    Also, this guy is the best. With the help of his videos, and several years of trying my hand at various things, I've gotten to the point where my own mother trusted me to bleach highlights into her hair the other day. And this guy played a big part in my ability to do that. I could hear his voice reminding me to take thin sections while applying foils to her hair, every time I was sectioning one out. Her hair came out AMAZINGLY. I missed a couple of spots, so the highlighting is a little sparse in 3 places, but I'm super proud of it, and she is happy because it was the first time she has had her hair done in over a decade after a hairdresser messed it up badly. I'm also grateful for my friend who was my test subject every time I wanted to try something new. Luckily, he never had to shave his head after any new things.

    People need to think about how strong color pigments are. Dyed hair can be washed, treated, blowdried, hot-ironed and the pigment lasts through it all. Imagine what it takes to then remove all of it.

    After she realized her hair went back to black is the PERFECT time to do a vitamic C treatment. I know you say it doesnt work but It does, you just have to know when to use it. It ONLY works (in my experience) on freshly dyed hair. And if she mixed the vit c powder with clarifying shampoo it would have taken all that black right back out like she never evn dyed it. When I was a blonde and doing my roots myself they would constantly turn green- but mixing up a batch of vit c+clarifying shampoo and then applying it to the green takes it out. Either that or put a bunch of ketchup on your roots to try and counteract the green and pray for the best lol

    The biggest tip I can give anyone dying their hair dark brown or black when it comes to doing the root touch up don't just cover the whole head of hair with that dark dye because you are adding another layer of pigments to the mids and ends every time you do it so if you decide you want to change the colour in the future it will be so much harder to get all those added pigments layered up on your hair if you need to dye roots then just do your roots don't over lap then when you are rinsing it out the colour will lightly wash over your minds and ends and refresh the colour anyway without adding loads more un needed pigments

    Likely the best way for her to embrace her unpigmented ("grey") hair is to cut a lot of that dyed hair off and trim off the dyed hair as it grows out. Or shave her head 😜
    I predict a crazy outcome to her attempt. Hair Budda knows what he is talking about when it comes to hair!

      When I decided to embrace my gray I got it cut pretty short, a nice cut with nice layering and then kept having the ends trimmed regularly for a few months. If your hair grows really slow, probably a few foil highlights or low lights would help too.

    I'm utterly confused! I thought she liked the brighter, redish brown after 2x colour remover. I thought she would try to get the rest of her the lengths the same. And she ends up with the same colour she had.... well, if it makes her happy 🤗
    Have a good weekend!

    I started watching your videos for entertainment only😂. But now i am watching because i am learning so much. I bleached and toned my hair from red back to blond. Well it looked really funny. There is still going on some orange, yellow and even white parts, but i not dare to touch it by myself again. Too much different Shades going on. I just let it grow out. Luckily my natural blond is not that dark so it will blend in. 😊 Thank you for teaching us what not to do 😊

    I went to a salon that's well respected in my area
    I am naturally dark blonde and wanted to go to ash blonde (not drastic)
    The girl turned my hair clown orange
    I had to go to another salon because I didn't trust the original girl after that and she didn't add enough toner
    Another salon did the toner and now it looks ash blonde

    I used that color oops stuff after my hair went black from auburn (and I'd been dying it black to match). It was interesting to see the black at the roots and about 4 inches down then it going to dark auburn

    I didn't have bleach or10 or 20 volume developer so I mixed 3% hydrogen peroxide the one used for cleaning wounds with shampoo and put it on the darker parts only it took them to a lighter brown that matched the color removed part. Also a hairdresser told when you dye your hair just do regrowth don't overlap it, later on if you want to bleach it it's easier. Thank you Buddha enjoyed this video

    When I went from (dyed) black, back to brown, it took 8 hours in a salon, two lots of bleach at a low volume, olaplex, and a semi-permenent over it and cost me a lot of money. My hair after the first bleaching was a reddish-orange, after the second was orangey-yellow and then we coloured it. The end result was a lovely dark chocolate brown. I find it hilarious that people expect to be able to go from black to blonde in any short length of time. It takes A LOT of work if you don't want to ruin your hair.

    Where I’m from ; - a remote Scandinavian village where everybody had boring light blonde hair, we would have murdered to have her hair color!! 0:15 👈🏻😛 (= Hyperbole). So for years I’ve dyed my hair dark with the type of dye that washes out over time, as in my portrait here. By the way, this is the only existing photo of me with a tan. I gave up tanning thanks to 2 pimples that appeared out of nowhere on my nose, and the pimples lasted longer than the tan I had wasted my entire summer holiday to achieve. 😑 😹

    I used a colour remover last year for the first time. My hair was heavily coloured with permanent and semi permanent, purple and blue . My hair is naturally about 80% white.
    It went gold! It was REALLY light. I still don't understand as there were surely very few pigments in my hair that would leave yellow?
    Yes, the stuff smells awful, and is not nice to your hair. I had quite a bit of fall out - full strand, which I can't afford 😩
