As someone who tried this. It's because there are videos on the internet saying it is not damaging or less damaging than bleach and I didn't know any better. Unfortunately there's not enough educating resources saying it is a bad idea. Your videos have been entertaining and extremely educational. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Your videos have completely taken oven my TH-cam feed lol I love your channel you just relax me and make me laugh at the same time.. never stop creating content ❤️
This woman is so sweet and she is eminently capable of learning and succeeding at this. She simply needs consistent good advice, tips and to be taught what she is doing that doesn't work and just doing what does work. For a home job her hair is significantly better than many of the bleach fails I've seen on here. It is within a tolerance level that makes it possible for her to wear it this way or continue to work on it until it is even in color. Or she could invest in a correction at the salon. But overall I'm glad for her that her hair didn't fall out and looks like it will recover. Everybody just has to stop trying to remove color with baking soda and harsh detergent.
No. This woman is choosing to be a moron. And she's doing actual harm by putting this video out there. There are STILL people who will watch this madness and think, 'Oh, baking soda? I've got that in my pantry!' even after watching her results. This has got to stop. Someone being soft-spoken doesn't mean they're "sweet," and being wilfully uneducated is a choice.
I love golden blond - I think it's so much more flattering for warm skin tones. I don't get the obsession with cool/ash- blond hair. It's beautiful if it's done well and if you have the right nuance undertone in your skin...otherwise it can make you look sick or older.
yeah it depends on the skintone. for people who are pale and cool toned, its the opposite. the smallest hint of gold in blonde can make the hair look very brassy even if it isn't and makes them look sickly
I just don't get the obsession with blond in general, I find it a rather boring hair color except on natural blonds. I think browns, reds, and black are all so much prettier than blond.
@@ALT-vz3jn I think so, too! I was just speaking from my perspective of someone who lives close to a border with France and is more likely to use a pronunciation close to the French one 🙂 For example, Americans seem to find it weird that some Germans pronounce "coupon" the French way 🙂
I remember clients telling me some of the stuff they used on their hair. Toothpaste, bleach(laundry), baby oil, and a whole lot more. At first it was hard for me to tell them what I was thinking without screaming "NO!". Over the years, I got better at telling them better products in place of the crazy stuff. But sometimes I still wanted to scream. LOL
Hair Buddha, I love your videos. I am a professional housekeeper. I have the exact same reaction anytime someone mentions baking soda. When a new client tells me they use "just baking soda and vinegar" the internal battle to keep a straight face... It's fierce. Also, I can tell, lady. I can tell.
Now I feel weird since I use vinegar and natron/baking soda 😳 esp in the kitchen or for the windows... I mean - it cleans? 😅 Don't you use it in general or do some of your clients use it for pretty much everything?
I use a very small amount of baking soda, apple cider vinager and laundry soap when washing grimy clothes. That combo strips the dirt and odor. I couldn't imagine using it in my hair. It would all fall out.
Soda and vinegar cancel each other out. Mix them together and you get water and some salts. You can first use soda to get rid of the grime, then neutralize it with the vinegar which will also kill bacteria and therefore get rid of any smells.
I started using the Blonde Me range with 20vol after watching your videos and my hair is healthier than it has been for years, I've even got my curl pattern back! ❤
I will never forget trying baking soda, my hair was already damaged and when I did a strand test my hair literally disintegrated. Like it didn't snap off, it turned to tiny grains like sand. At least with bleach damage you can try to save it but with baking soda it just crumbled away.
@@Zoe-dr5ps luckily I only did a small strand test so I didn't put in on all my hair, but I did end up shaving my head. That was a year and a half ago now my hair is natural and shoulder length, I'm leaving it alone now lol
Baking soda = sodium bicarbonate. Like salt it absorbs liquid/moisture and degreases. Ever swallow salted water by accident? Feels like your throat is closing. 😉
Because of Hair Buddha, i always start from the back, use small sections and take my time. It honestly goes faster than being chaotic because you dont have to go back and fix stuff lol!
As someone who has dandruff and used to dye their hair, I can guarantee that something in the head and shoulders anti dandruff does fade colour. But it just makes it fade faster over repeated washings. Using a whole bottle in one session isn't going to make it work faster or more effectively.
You mentioned that purple shampoo is not a toner, but at my last salon done bleach session my hairdresser told me she was only going to use purple shampoo and conditioner to tone my hair. I ended up toning it a myself with Wella T 27 (beige blonde) because it definitely needed toned. And now I am in the process of taking it back to a warmer blonde, thank you HB for your assistance with what to use to repigment my hair before using the 8G golden blonde. I have learned so much from you, and have been entertained.
It amazes me with all the videos and hair fails on the internet, people still think baking soda does anything. We use baking soda in the lab to neutralize acids, it's also used to soak up oil. It doesn't lift anything 😆

Last year, I made the mistake of falling asleep with pink color depositing shampoo in it... it made it a cute rose gold color with my blonde but it didn't suit me. I didn't experiment, i went to a salon. It cost a lot, but the stylist was awesome. I like low maintenance, so we settled on a cute ombre that i only have to touch up 1-2 times a year. And when i want to mess with colors i put my color conditioners in the ends so worse case scenario, i get her to trim it. Lol. My hair is so long I frequently sit on it. So i can afford a trims. I'm just happy to have found a stylist that I really like after mine moved away.
I don't do my hair because I have alopecia soooo...I just follow and see your videos for your reactions:))))))) you are sooooo freaking adorable....you make my days happier !😂 Now when I will think about baking soda I will imagine your face😂!
If you are going to strip color (bleach out any colors or even regrowth). You wash with clarifying shampoo to remove anything (hair products, dirt, and oils) that would make it hard to do the color strip. The only time I use "dish soap," I use dawn. I currently live on a farm and getting pine tar or tree dust and sap from cutting trees out of my hair is easier that way. Then I condition and let my hair air dry. I'll lightly condition the ends and leave that in my hair until the next morning. Learned a lot of ways to fix problems normal shampoos have trouble taking care of.
Shes a sweetheart. I've been there before, wanting blond so much that I'm willing to settle for a yellow head of fried mess. I am really surprised she still has hair after all that. She should go a really pretty brown color with a nice balayage - not do it herself -get a professional.

No disrespect to Brad Mondo but why does everyone follow his advice? He is more of a celebrity hairdresser but Hair Buddha is a real hair stylist.
