January 2017 and my Nokia 1520 is still doing a superb job. lovely screen, battery life, UI and audio quality on earphones. And makes taking a photo an enjoyable experience, not just taking snaps.
Slippery sexy shiny slim, heavy phablet but just right for its red huge size. Got the 8.1 Dev and it makes me love 1520 more from smaller fonts with better and faster animations. :)
Dude. No joke. I've been LOVING 8.1. The ONLY thing I need to see now is better on-device file management. Other than that it's my favorite platform out right now.
JuanBagnell you'll know by now that 8.1 is due by summer this year. Developer preview should be releasing Monday the 14th. Can't wait. Love my 1520. Thanks for the review.
8.1 is definitely an enhancement of significant proportions. The 1520 is now superior amongst its competitors. That said, there is room for further improvement, so keep up the great work, Windows! Be a leader, not a follower.
Sorry, I ment the 808 as well as the 920. Those 2 I've read have very good low freq. Reproduction. I'm more interested in the sound pressure volume and handling low frequency without distorting. If you might know . Thx
Well tiny mics can be pretty easily overloaded, but Nokia is still the only company I know of with a variable low cut filter. might seem counter intuitive, but running a bass cut can really improve live audio recording.
JuanBagnell, Thank you so much for helping me out. Well appreciated! She will go for the round corners along with a reasonable price. That was a perfect video review. Thanks again!
I'm totally all android! Thinking of coming over? What third party android apps can i use on the 1520? And what about my gmail accounts and web browser?
I read a review, quote" You are finally able to create high quality audio recording with Audio Recorder Pro... You can choose wave or compressed type of file. It's recording in stereo with 44.1 Khz or 48 Khz ( in case of Lumia 920 ) sample rate... You need to have a amber update installed on your phone. The phones which have high quality haac microphones are Lumias: 620, 720, 820, 920, 925, 928 and 1020... "
What a fantastic review. This is a serious contender for my next upgrade which is in 2 weeks time. The other options are the Sony Experia Z2, Samsung S5 and the LG G2. I am currently using the Note 8 so the size of the 1520 isn't an issue. My only concern was the app store but you seem to have cleared up my concerns about that in your review.
SO. Many. GOOD. PHONES! Windows Phone still has a little ways to go to catch up to all the apps on Android, but it's made some really big strides lately.
Mine is on it's way, you definitely swayed me in my decision. Though my brother worked on the R&D of this phone in Nokia U.K and pointed it out 14 months ago. Thx ;-)
I just got through using an Xperia Z Ultra and it made my 1520 seem small, though the 1520 somehow felt bulkier in my hand. I would have rather had an Icon-sized version on AT&T, but the screen on the 1520 is truly something to behold when you're consuming content. I especially like how it handles bright sunlight and the autobrightness just works, which can't really be said about most smartphones.
No joke! The super bright mode can drain your battery a little faster, but it's really bright. Auto-Brightness is still my biggest pet peeve with LG. Nokia nailed it.
The Internet is truly vast, new places to go everyday. first time I came across your site & glad I did. my first phone was a Nokia 6310I. much appreciate the fact that you admit you have biases in the comment section (as we all do) however you seem not to allow it to interfere with your reviews, good on u. & you're willing to take the time out to respond to questions ect from those who visits your site at least you try, always a plus. I recently came across another review site being heavily criticized by a responder for continually saying Nokia/ windows does not have much apps, I myself was unaware that their Apps had grown to such a degree and because of this I had dismissed idea of buying a Nokia 1520 (I've come to like Big phones) after your review (and his statement) its back on my radar. Nokia 1520 no otg bad 32gb internal up to 64gb sd good, wish it was 128gb internal & up to 128gb sd = 256gb,(can you say Yesssss like brain from pinky & the brain) fm radio good. it's a toss up between Nokia 1520, lg optimus G pro & maybe the One Plus One CyanogenMod 115 version. need to know does Windows support dolphin web browser, MX player, Mobo player & color note? keep up the good work.
Glad you enjoyed. I think it's silly when people claim they are "unbiased". We ALL naturally have some kind of bias, but it doesn't mean I need to go trash a gadget just because it doesn't fall in line with what I like. And I can ALWAYS use a little more help sharing my vids! So, between the 1520, LG, and OnePlus, I think the Nokia hardware will be nicer. The screen is gorgeous and goes into a higher contrast bright mode in sunlight. The camera is a beast (I just posted more samples from it linked below). It'll smoke the Optimus G Pro, but it'll be comparable to the G Pro 2 and OnePlus. battery life will probably be a touch better on the OnePlus for how lean that build of CM is. The "lack of apps" can affect people looking for slightly more specialized apps. You probably wont find the exact same app, but you can often find similar ones. Browsers for example. IE is MUCH improved on Windows Phone, and it genuinely does a better job of rendering desktop sites than Chrome does on Android, even for Google sites. If you're looking for speed and data compression, you could give Opera Mini or UC Browser a try on Windows Phone. ColorNote hasn't made a WP app, but there are PLENTY of note and doc solutions. My Notes looks like it matches a lot of the ColorNote features, like being able to pin widgets to the home screen - www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/my-notes/727f63b5-d395-e011-986b-78e7d1fa76f8 Video players are a bit lacking, as we just got proper file management support in 8.1 I think it'll improve. The stock player has worked for most of the video files I've ripped, though I tend to stick to MP4. Others have had good experiences with Moliplayer to fill some gaps - www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/moliplayer-pro/19ea6d3e-e3d9-401d-b30a-f6471811fe08 It's also likely we'll see VLC player for Windows 8/RT soon, which means by next year it'll probably be on the WP platform as well. There are some really good options for the platform, but you might need to play a little to find what works for you. 1520 camera vid - Video Walk with the Nokia Lumia 1520: A Windy Day in LA
Do you have any recommendations on charging a refurbished 1520 I'll be receiving one tomorrow! really looking forward to it and excited! but I need to know the best results for detecting how good the battery is? in this device, and if I were to let the battery wear down or charge it right off the bat! one thing with a new device another maybe with a refurbished device, what do you know about this? I can use all the help I can get going over to a Windows Phone from Android
MyProject13 There are a lot of conflicting opinions on battery maintenance. I'd say top it off when you first get it, then run it down to a low battery warning. Understanding that first day usage is always heavier because of all the set up.
JuanBagnell I agree just want to make sure I do this right! completely new experience for me so I'm trying to gather as much info/tips going into this exciting new platform! I will be doing an unboxing on my channel then set it up, play with it for a bit then do a review, now that's scary because I'm so used to Android, so new grounds for me!
by the way i love your videos they are more objective and one thing that i don't like in some of the other is that some people just do a nasty review because they don't like the os . and that makes me really mad. You are just impartial.
explorador75 Thanks for that. I do have my bias too, but on the whole all of the current premier phones are actually quite good. It seems foolish to me to pan one just because it's not my favorite.
you make a very very valid point. I'm still dismayed that WP only rounded out the corners of their MID-RANGE devices ( unless this rounding is a peak at 'things to come' circa-post-ICON ) Functionality ("Hand-feel") in my opinion, trumps design in a phablet (or phones in general (also very relavent point regarding the 'raising of norm' as far as screen size is concerned. BRavo Bravo
Great review! I love how upbeat and enthusiastic you are when doing reviews! And it's not only about the specs, but you review your experience with these gadgets on a real life, daily basis, which makes us think about how our experience will be with these devices once we decide to get them. :) Btw I held one of these 1520's at a MS store and I was impressed by the vividness of the screen, which makes me interested in getting one for consuming media like facebook, web browsing, and videos. I didn't mind the size, and the build was really tight and high quality. Although been an iPhone user since 2007, and I know nowadays the major apps are on windows phone, but there is one game that I often play (Street Fighter IV Volt) that is not on windows or android. But I cant wait to see my experience with this phone, and maybe then I can make a compromise.
jadenhotguy Glad you enjoyed the review! There are always going to be compromises, but I've found some of the lack of apps on WP is kinda made up by the excellent camera and audio hardware. I think WP does a genuinely excellent job of covering the basics, and some features like Cortana are more fun to use than Siri. It'll definitely be a transition, and there will be things you don't like I'm sure, but I think you'll have fun with it :-)
I was debating between this phone and the iPhone 5s but after seeing this video there's a clear choice for me 1520 sounds and looks like a beast already love it and I don't even have it
I have used Windows phone since like forever. I enjoyed days with my HTC Tilt, LG Quantum, HTC Titan, Nokia 1020 and 1520. The 1520 has been my favorite phone so far but due to lack of apps I was forced to switch to iPhone. Microsoft needs to come up with some great idea of a phone or have as many apps as IOS or Android to compete nowadays
Does he 1520 att version in america get LTE? Saw comment that said it’s terrible for america with no lte. Been wanting one. Also could I put a 256 micro sd for memory
Hello again. Are "home tiles" considered the same as "app memory"? I'm trying to lower my storage to update to 10. I'm using 8.1 , which isn't being supported by Microsoft anymore. What if I add n SD card? How will that work then? Thanks.
i really want to try this phone. currently using a one plus one and that took about a week to get use to the size. does anyone who have this think its too big or is it just like one plus one or note 3 in terms of size in hand and pocket?
Soo, there are doors.. but yet no Waterproof coating A la Xperia Z/Z2?? Not even on their phablet. BTW, there was a time where the Titan 2 was considered a BIG phone (pre-age of phablets)
Is there any way that I can use my micro sim instead of the nano sim don't want to cut my micro sim! And if I go to T-Mobile I can get a nano sim but that means my number will be taken off the original micro sim, which costs $15 bucks and if I want to switch back that's another $15 bucks!
MyProject13 Nope sorry. Either you gotta get a new SIM or you gotta cut that puppy down. I've done a SIM chop. It wasn't particularly fun. I'd recommend the new SIM for $15 instead.
JuanBagnell coming from Android and never using a Windows device do you think I will enjoy the experience? and what Android apps can I download and apply to the windows 1520, ally gmail accounts, TH-cam? Texting? Video players? and will I love the experience especially if I can pick this device up for $330, thanks I appreciate your time. Peace
MyProject13 It's tough to say. It really depends on what you use your phone most for. Windows Phone is an interesting half-way point between how locked down iOS is and how wide open and customizable Android is. I think it provides for a snappier overall UI than Android, but you lose out on a number of Google services like Hangouts. Things like TH-cam can work well with MetroTube. Texting works great with the built in app. You can use VLC for video. There are some solid options for core services, but you'll miss out on bleeding edge social apps like Periscope. For $330 it's a really solid mini tablet phone, with a great camera, amazing audio (mics and headphone jack), and a very nice screen.
JuanBagnell I don't use hangouts,I use a third party app called 'handcent', and vcl is good, and what about browser can I get google as an option and my gmail? Again thanks
MyProject13 You can get your email, but you'll go through the mobile version of outlook not through a GMail app. I don't believe Google has made any versions of Chrome for Windwos Phone. I think the main browsers will be IE (which actually doesn't suck on mobile) and Opera.
I have the 930 or Icon in the US. Its battery life is abysmal... I just got a used 1520, it's in the mail. I hope I can get over how big it is. I had the Note and the Note 2 for a long time, so I hope I can get used to it! Haha! I really like WP! Much more fluid and dependable than Android in my opinion. As for apps, yeah, they're missing the Google ones. But there are SO MANY good ones! I just wish more people would pick up WP so app developers would code better updates faster :P There's not that much of an "App Gap" but rather a "Feature Gap."
If you were on a note I don't think the 1520 will be too much of an adjustment. And yeah, I'm hoping that Windows 10 will encourage more developers to support the platform. Google will probably never outright support Microsoft's ecosystem, but that's fine. I'll just use their services less.
Excellent review. Some things to compliment you on: using a tripod, not having your face in the video the whole time (or at all), actually being fair and objective. So many people out there think I want to see them on camera. Uh no, it's a product review, which you totally get. Big up!
Older Nokia Phones in Windows Phone 8.1, allow you to have 3 Colom's of Tiles, also WinPhone 8.1 has things like a Notification Center, a lot of great things.
Juan, have you had the issue where swipes are sometimes registered as taps? My new 1520 has this now and then and want to know if replacing it might solve it.
Completely agree. I really think of mine as being more of a mini tablet than a phone. I never reach for my Nexus 7 anymore, but it's not my first pick to carry when I'm out and about.
I've had mine for months and I'll agree it can be a little awkward. I've added a shock-resistant case to mine and it's made it even larger, but I've actually adapted to it. The case weighs more than the phone! XD
After an update, the Lumia 920 supports 3 rows of tiles also. I'm not sure about the others as I only have the 920 and 1520. I was pleasantly surprised it was supported on the 920. Looks good though. Loved the 920 camera and love the 1520 even better. I was gonna go with the 1020 but changed my mind.
Oh I'm sorry I missed this comment. I got this pen for free at a trade show. Any inexpensive capacitive stylus will work just fine though. You could check out these from Amazon - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008ULX012/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B008ULX012&linkCode=as2&tag=theramofsomau-20
I have been using my Lumia 1520 for more than 8 months now. I really love the phone. But I encountered a problem with the display after using the phone for about 2 months. The screen glitches suddenly; the search runs itself and apps start opening by themselves and select things. Even if I try to touch somewhere it doesn't respond and touches somewhere else by itself instead. I have seen several videos on TH-cam regarding this issue. Some people call it Phantom touch issue. But I frankly don't know what the hell it really is. I really love this device, but this glitch of the scree is ruining my experience with this device. I would like to know if you also have encountered such a problem with your device. Thanks!
JuanBagnell I haven't tried it since I don't have any warranty or something like that. I bought the phone from Dubai and I live in USA. So, even contacting the seller is a pain. If I contact Microsoft, do you think that they will help me with this problem? If so, what is the best way to contact them? By the way, thank you very much for your respond. I really appreciate it.
+Nilupul Malinda Kulathunga Ive had this happen before on my windows phone (not a 1520) and did everything including reformatting it back to factory settings etc. Still nothing. I believe it is due to flexing the phone at one time or another, causing damage to the sensors in the display.. it seems to happen more often depending on the size of the phone, the 1520 being most common
I have a 10.1 inch windows tablet... still debating on if I need a 6 inch phablet... maybe I should try to get a 1020... hmmm wish this came in a 5 inch
hmmm.... I may be catching up, but the start screen customisation, the new notification center, Cortana, the data, storage and wifi sense features, and Word Flow are what I've gained since the last update.
Ah. See I did a video on the Windows Phone 8.1 developer preview, so I've covered those things here: Windows Phone 8.1, Cortana, and Legacy Hardware Support - MEGA REVIEW! And a Tips & Tricks vid for the keyboard here: Windows Phone 8.1 Keyboard Tips & Tricks: Slide for Characters, Cursor, and Punctuation What I can see different from the 8.1 DevPre to Cyan are refined icons in the notification area (wifi indicator has arrows now) and "Living Images" in the camera/photo viewer.
I certainly wouldn't blame you! The 1020 crushes everything in its path. I really hope we see a 1030 announced by year's end. If you're having issues with colors and saturation, you might wanna play with white balance, or seeing if you can edit the RAW files from the camera instead of the JPGs.
This is so frustrating. I'm STILL holding on to my 920 because of the wireless charging. I sooo want the 1520 over the incoming 930 but the no wireless charging is killing me
It's kind of a bummer yeah. Hoping the 930 which hits the USA isn't hamstrung the same way. I'm somehow more ok with the lack of an SD card slot, than removing a feature like wireless charging...
Great review. To be honest, I just got my phone two weeks ago. I've been an iPhone user for 7 years now and this was a HUGE leap of faith going to Windows Phone. I was really hesitant at first but I wanted a new phone and I don't like Android. The iPhone got stale since the late Steve Jobs died. So I did very basic research and went to the Microsoft store. I played with both the 1020 and 1520. The size of the 1520 drew me first. Then I compared the specs, and the 1520 won in those categories except for the camera. I debated about getting the 1020 just for the camera, but I went with overall performance. While 41 is greater than 20, the 20 is greater than anything I've ever owned including a Canon 12.1 MP camera. So I go the 1520 and it has been great! The app store is still lacking, and I do hope that it gets better within the next 6 months. I'm missing a few key apps that I used to use on my iPhone. While I have big hands, I tend to use two just for security. The battery life is solid. I did some talk, text, two netflix episodes of Arrested Development, GPS for an hour, music/podcast, email, wifi & bluetooth on and working, some browsing, and it lasted me 17 hours. I was very impressed even though I like to baby this phone. I do hope that 8.1 doesn't negatively impact the battery life on the device. What is your average battery life as a heavy user?
My battery life has been solid. I did the developer preview update to 8.1, and at first battery life was awful, but a recent patch brought it back to the same run time we had under WP8.
JuanBagnell I too did the developer preview and I experienced horrid battery life. I read some forums and did a factory reset and it still didn't fix the issue. Not only did my battery drain quickly, but the battery saver didn't give accurate stats. I also found my phone to run warmer than usual so I decided to downgrade back to WP 8.0.
Wow. No small feat there. The downgrade process is pretty tricky. I'm glad they patched the Developer Preview though, as it helped tremendously with battery life.
I just switched to att and have always had android devices. Im stuck between the lg gflex or the 1520. And i have seen your video comparing the 2 but im still undecided. Any idea what would be the best choice after all?
LOL! You gotta narrow that down a bit. Like tell me what kinds of things you want to do with a new phone. Right now you're asking me to choose between a Prius, an Acura TSX, a Ford F250, a BMW 5, and a Volvo S60.
it will be good, if you can show, how to use Windows Phone to edit the email message on a forwarded email. and other functions which other phone can do.
Man I hope we see new hardware. Fingers crossed it's delivered as soon as we get Windows 10. The 1520 is still a solid device, but we're due a refresh.
JuanBagnell I've been an Apple fanboy for many years... I'm currently using an iPhone 5. I was planning on getting the next iPhone which i predict will release in the fall of 2015... but being a beta tester for windows 10 and seeing that cortana will be on it made me change my mind. now im aiming for the next lumia release, which i predict to be 1525
My dream would be to see a complete refresh of their top three phones. A follow up to the 1520 with a new phablet. A new Flagship phone following the 930, and a new "super camera" phone to replace the 1020. Seeing as how the newest Lumia is the 640, We might see a 1540 next.
It can, but it's not a proper inductive stylus like on the Note. It wont really be any more accurate than a finger. I just like to use them in my vids so my hand doesn't block more of the screen.
As a self declared Windows phone addict since the days of WinMo and the HTC early, EARLY models like the Varios and Titan, I only today traded in my Lumia 930 for a brand new 1520 in green, and it's the best phone I've ever had (I also use an iPhone 6 Plus for work). As Microsoft have been dilly-dallying around- we don't even know if the next phones will be the 940/940XL or the 950/950XL!- I got kinda bored of waiting and reading all about these mythical smartphones and decided to get this! I also think that although it's almost 2 years old, it's STILL pretty future proof and I'll be able to use it for years without looking enviously at the next flagship phone. Microsoft's problem is that they focus on low to mid level devices, when people want high end premium phones, and with Apple set to release the next iPhone soon, Microsoft have been caught dragging their heels again! It's a shame 'cos these Lumias really are works of art. Nice review as well by the way!
Is this phone upgradable to windows 8.1 and windows 10? 'm tired of waiting for the new flagship of WP. I'm getting this. I like the design better than the 930. I hope you reply. thanks.
Hey, Juan, quick question: I have the opportunity to buy a 1520 for around $240. Should I jump on that, or wait a little while more? I'd be switching over from my Galaxy S4, I had a 520 originally but switched over to Android because of apps, but I've come to find out I don't really ever download/use apps as much as I thought I would. I've always loved Windows Phones and figured this deal would be a great way to jump back in.
Patrick Riley That's a very good deal for a 1520, as it's a bit cheaper than picking up a 640XL in many markets. The only question you would want to ask is if you might be bummed you didn't grab a 940XL (at a much higher price) later this year.
JuanBagnell Thank you very much for the reply! I went ahead and bought it. Maybe if the 940XL is a big enough improvement over the 1520 then I'd consider going ahead and forking over the cash again. Now I'm just waiting for my 1520 to be delivered!
nice review. i'm on a 1020 from an 800. i am intrigued by the sheer size of the 1520 and what it does to the 'experience' of windows phone. hard to see it being much better, or better at all than a 1020.
I have a hard time comparing them. One is a camera with a smaller phone bolted to the back, the other is a mini-tablet that can make phone calls. Windows Phone is about the only thing they actually have in common LOL.
JuanBagnell the photos i've taken with the 1020 have been stunning, and i mean stunning. i'm a highly enthusiastic photographer so photos mean a lot to me. are you able to post up a link to a full sized photo taken by the 1520 for me?
I have a few 1520 and Icon pics up on Google Plus. plus.google.com/photos/100121444682130041890/albums/5983328986388329329 plus.google.com/photos/100121444682130041890/albums/5981905663035106113/5981905662189525986?pid=5981905662189525986&oid=100121444682130041890 plus.google.com/photos/100121444682130041890/albums/6030788561871830689/6030788584030924450?pid=6030788584030924450&oid=100121444682130041890 plus.google.com/photos/100121444682130041890/albums/6030788561871830689/6030788846467116146?pid=6030788846467116146&oid=100121444682130041890
thanks for that. at iso 800, the images are already very noisy, which is not surprising and normal for a censor so small. this is why i like the 1020, the optical stabaliser means i can turn the iso back down and still hold a still shot. i've shot over 1sec shutter before, with clear images.
Oh I can't. I have a pretty good relationship with AT&T and I've done work with Nokia since the N8 was released. It's only been recently that I've been producing content for my own personal channels.
hey buddy , good job with your video i wanna buy second hand Lumia 1520 , however its so clean do you think i can trust , and does it have the value to buy a second hand 1520(it has worked for 7 months) ?
arash abolabbas I honestly can't answer that. If the phone seems like it's in good condition, and you trust the seller to deliver for a good price, I don't see any issues. It's still being supported, will get Windows 10. However we will probably see a 940XL in a couple months, and you could start saving for that.
had the lumia 1520.3 but discovered that that the battery drains so fast with internet and other applications. Does the new nokia 1520 have a better and more powerful and longer battery??
Gordon Kunbuma Tachang Hmmm I thought the 1520.3 WAS the newest version of the 1520? This year we'll hopefully get the 940XL to replace the 1520, but I don't know how well the battery will run obviously.
Finally ordered this phone. I tried to hold off because of the lack of wireless charging. Still holding on to my 920. Is there anyway to add the wireless charging?
At the moment, no easy way to do it. There is a PMA case from Incipio, but that wont work with your Qi chargers. There is a hack if you're brave to rip the phone apart and shove a Qi coil in there, but that's a little out of my league. forums.wpcentral.com/nokia-lumia-1520/254121-2.htm#post2276451
One thing you fail to grasp, besides the phone itself with your small hands, is that older people have poorer eyesight and the 6" form factor helps us get stuff done by being able to see the phone better than the old 4" form factor. You are young and all you worry about is your small hands and I have small hands too. Also, I find putting the phone in an otterbox or similar protection device makes it easier to hold.
Good review. Just switched from iPhone to Lumia 1520 for screen size and I prefer the live tiles to the....nothing?! WP has most of the apps I use and the screen real estate is unreal. Just wish the Lumia Icon was on AT&T
I have to believe that the Lumia 930 will eventually arrive on AT&T, and it'll be nearly identical to the Icon. I just hope they don't mess up the wireless charging.
I am using an iphone 5c right now. I wanted to get the 5 but I don't like the aluminium feel. I started to like plastic on a phone because it gives you that worm feel in your hand. There is one more thing, what ever I do, my next phone seems to allways be an iphone, can't shake it off.
I get that though. Its easy to stick with what's familiar. If it's note broke, don't fix it. And anyone claiming an iPhone isn't a premier device is just foolish. Even the 5C I think is a fine phone for the price. It's not my cup of tea, but I enjoyed my time with the 5S a LOT more than I thought would.
I cant wait until I upgrade to a 1520. Unfortunately my family uses sprint, so if I want to switch to at&t, I have to get a job and pay for it myself, which is fine, but i don't turn 15 for another 2 weeks, so I cant upgrade to the amazing Lumia 1520 for about another couple months. Oh well, at least I still have a working smartphone, even if its only an old 4s
High Tech Pioneer Right on man. That'd be a killer phablet. So here's the deal, the 1520 is very good hardware still, and your timing might be really good in that we should expect a follow up soon, likely called the 940XL. Waiting for that, we might see people trying to sell off their 1520s, and companies trying to dump their remaining inventory of 1520s. Having to wait, might be an even better time to buy. Do you know what carrier you'll go to?
I never thought I would say this, but I'm glad I have to wait! I think at&t is the only one with the 1520, so I guess I'll go with them, unless another carrier has it, then I'll do some more research to see who has a better deal. Also, I was wondering, on windows, can you do things portrait orientation lock, or set it to show the battery percentage, instead of just the bar? I know that theres an app called battery usage, or something like that, where you can set things off to save battery power, but then you can scroll to the side, and it shows the percentage you have left, but I was wondering if you can set it to always show the number at the top of the screen? I know enough about windows to know that Ill love it, but theres still a lot I don't know about, so that means when I get the phone, I can explore through the phone to see what kinds of cool things it can do, that I didn't even know about, so that will be exciting! I think this reply has gotten to be a bit too long, so I will just end it here.
If you can, track down the RM-938, also called the 1520.3. It returns the wireless charging AT&T removed, and bumps storage back up to the 32GB of the international version. Should work on both AT&T and T-Mobile, but they're REALLY tricky to track down.
Ill have to try and look for one, but I wont keep my hopes up sense there rare. Thanks for the phone recommendation! Oh, and good job on all of your videos, there really helpful, and fun to watch!
I wanted to buy the iPhone 6+, but then I went to the AppleStore and changed my mind. 859+tx (Canada) + case (because you want a case with the iphone6) = Over a 1000$!!! I saw on BH the 1520 was 480$+shipping, Half the price. So I think I will probably go with the 1520. But what do you think about the 930? It's smaller but thicker and has no external storage and I heard the battery life was way shorter than the 1520 and also it's more expensiv (599$). I can't make up my mind...what do you suggest?
If you were shopping the 6+ I'd say go for the 1520. I like the form factor and screen better on the 930, but the 1520 has great battery life and will be able to use Glance.
Still gonna wait for your iPhone 6+ vs 1520 comparison ;) maybe prices gonna drop a little bit more until next lumia release :D Thanks for your advice, love your reviews and tips!
I bought 3 lumias for the family and thought I would take the plunge despite the critics having a field day of the size of the phone. Know what though, I use my phone more for all the other stuff than calls alone and for the sake of all that others the calls trade off where you use Bluetooth earpiece anyways is all good. I have even started using it like a kindle to do my reading stuff everywhere as well. The thing is just too good and the doubters who were after iPhones from me, I see playing with their phones day and night trying to find everything possible to do on them trying to find something they can't actually do on it. But the real killer app is since I am in business is the Office Hub, One Drive, VPN etc all working out of the box.
This is my first phone. Would you tell me which company would be best and cheapest for service. Where would I get this phone the cheapest? Where could I get the phone stand? How about where to get the stylus? Thank you! 🐯
I don't know which carrier will be cheapest in your area. I use the 1520 on AT&T and have had very good experiences with their network. The phone stand I use is an Arkon which you can get here - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D3YVZOU/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00D3YVZOU&linkCode=as2&tag=theramofsomau-20 The stylus I use I got for free at a trade show. Any inexpensive capacitive stylus should work fine. www.amazon.com/s/?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&linkCode=ur2&pageMinusResults=1&suo=1398238914121&tag=theramofsomau-20&url=search-alias%3Daps#/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=tablet%20stylus&sprefix=tablet%2Caps&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Atablet%20stylus&sepatfbtf=true&tc=1398238915583
No worries. The mics on a Nokia are about the best you'll find on any phone. There are four to provide stereo sound with noise reduction. You can hear a sample of them in action on my Icon Camera review. The 1520 uses a similar setup. Video Samples from the Nokia Lumia Icon! The Most Comprehensive Camera Test on TH-cam!
Yeah it's kind of a bummer, but at least on most sites where the link takes you to something to download, you are able to download that file. I wish it handled links a bit more like pics, where long pressing gives you the options to save.
just bought the 1520 yesterday. After watching this, I feel comfortable in my decision. But i'm a bit disappointed in the camera. Was hoping it would be as good as the 1020. But no complaints. Lol
Razail Peeler I'm glad to hear that, and always happy to help. If you know other folks who enjoy these kinds of tech videos, I can ALWAYS use more help sharing my vids. Glad you like your new phone!
+simon flinn It's tough to say. There are a lot of things that are still great about this phone, and I think it's handling the Win10 preview builds well. Maybe if you can find one for a really good price it could be fun to take for a spin, but I would really weigh pricing against the features you care about most on the phones which have been released more recently. It might also be worth it to wait for the 950 to officially launch, as then you might get a 1520 for REALLY cheap.
January 2017 and my Nokia 1520 is still doing a superb job. lovely screen, battery life, UI and audio quality on earphones. And makes taking a photo an enjoyable experience, not just taking snaps.
I love your fair and just REVIEW for 1520. Never had regrets of spending money for this phone, got a RED 1520. :) more power, Juan!
So glad you enjoy it! I'm jealous. I haven't even held a red one! Have you installed WP8.1 yet?
Slippery sexy shiny slim, heavy phablet but just right for its red huge size. Got the 8.1 Dev and it makes me love 1520 more from smaller fonts with better and faster animations. :)
Dude. No joke. I've been LOVING 8.1. The ONLY thing I need to see now is better on-device file management. Other than that it's my favorite platform out right now.
Better than Google. But still lack of greatest and latest games and other apps. .. WP will be there soon enough. :)
finally someone who likes windows phone 📱 You are the best reviewer
MUHAMMAD AZAAN LOL It's my favorite UI. Really hoping we see something special from Microsoft this year.
Yup today is the launch of windows 10 can't wait
MUHAMMAD AZAAN
Happy day :-D
JuanBagnell when is windows phone 10 releaseing
MUHAMMAD AZAAN
Ugh I wish I knew. The most likely answer from MS right now is "whenever it's ready".
It's 2017 and I love my Lumia 1520. They'll have to pry this thing from my cold dead hands.
i respect that
I just got this wonderful phone here in London and I love it. I too am looking forward to future software updates. A truly great phone.
We just got a maintenance release here in the states, but hopefully we'll have more word next month! Fingers crossed!
JuanBagnell you'll know by now that 8.1 is due by summer this year. Developer preview should be releasing Monday the 14th. Can't wait.
Love my 1520. Thanks for the review.
Andrew Sisson Signed up for the Developer Preview! I'll start reviewing cortana and action center as soon as they're loaded up! Thanks!
you're welcome. enjoying 8.1 on my device. find new things every day.
You're very welcome! Happy to help :-)
I'm still rocking my 1520 in 2019. It's nice to see some windows phone love on YT
UGH. Windows Phone. Still hurts my heart that MS abandoned it...
nokia 1520 is awesome specially with 8.1 update
It's a beast!
I am about to buy one and your video is really helpful. From one geek to another, thanks!
Glad I could help! Hope you love it!
I'm totally all android! Thinking of coming over? What third party android apps can i use on the 1520? And what about my gmail accounts and web browser?
I read a review, quote"
You are finally able to create high quality audio recording with Audio Recorder Pro... You can choose wave or compressed type of file. It's recording in stereo with 44.1 Khz or 48 Khz ( in case of Lumia 920 ) sample rate... You need to have a amber update installed on your phone. The phones which have high quality haac microphones are Lumias:
620, 720, 820, 920, 925, 928 and 1020... "
very cool. I'll check that out. thanks!
Thx ;-)
Happy to have helped sway you, though it's gotta be really cool having a family member "on the inside" :-D
It helps at times ;-)
I just got through using an Xperia Z Ultra and it made my 1520 seem small, though the 1520 somehow felt bulkier in my hand. I would have rather had an Icon-sized version on AT&T, but the screen on the 1520 is truly something to behold when you're consuming content. I especially like how it handles bright sunlight and the autobrightness just works, which can't really be said about most smartphones.
No joke! The super bright mode can drain your battery a little faster, but it's really bright. Auto-Brightness is still my biggest pet peeve with LG. Nokia nailed it.
JuanBagnell And then there's Samsung devices that dim the screen so much indoors on auto brightness that you think you're going blind.
***** i just don't like Sammy's services , but nowdays , they are trying to improve , STILL SAMSUNG IS NO MATCH for Nokia (IN QUALITY + SERVICE)
Sincere honest review !
Trying to keep it real you know :-)
I don't think I'm actually hip enough to use phrases like "keeping it real" but I gotta keep trying...
My Notes looks like it matches a lot of the ColorNote features, like being able to pin widgets to the home screen - www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/my-notes/727f63b5-d395-e011-986b-78e7d1fa76f8
Video players are a bit lacking, as we just got proper file management support in 8.1 I think it'll improve. The stock player has worked for most of the video files I've ripped, though I tend to stick to MP4. Others have had good experiences with Moliplayer to fill some gaps - www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/moliplayer-pro/19ea6d3e-e3d9-401d-b30a-f6471811fe08
It's also likely we'll see VLC player for Windows 8/RT soon, which means by next year it'll probably be on the WP platform as well.
MyProject13 It'll be fun! Nice to shake things up a bit :-)
JuanBagnell thanks so much! For all the tips and know how! I'll stay in touch if that's cool, while I keep learning this Beast! Peace
MyProject13 Always down for more tech chat :-)
I bought one on Microsoft store, still waiting for it and it supposed to come with Windows 8.1. So anxious to waiting to get it!!!!
Hot! Hope you enjoy it :-)
of course . Tkz
by the way i love your videos they are more objective and one thing that i don't like in some of the other is that some people just do a nasty review because they don't like the os . and that makes me really mad. You are just impartial.
explorador75 Thanks for that. I do have my bias too, but on the whole all of the current premier phones are actually quite good. It seems foolish to me to pan one just because it's not my favorite.
I travel a lot and was wondering if i could use a sim card from a different country and, if not, how hard it .is to unlock this
you make a very very valid point.
I'm still dismayed that WP only rounded out the corners of their MID-RANGE devices ( unless this rounding is a peak at 'things to come' circa-post-ICON )
Functionality ("Hand-feel") in my opinion, trumps design in a phablet (or phones in general (also very relavent point regarding the 'raising of norm' as far as screen size is concerned.
BRavo Bravo
Great review! I love how upbeat and enthusiastic you are when doing reviews! And it's not only about the specs, but you review your experience with these gadgets on a real life, daily basis, which makes us think about how our experience will be with these devices once we decide to get them. :)
Btw I held one of these 1520's at a MS store and I was impressed by the vividness of the screen, which makes me interested in getting one for consuming media like facebook, web browsing, and videos.
It'll definitely be a transition, and there will be things you don't like I'm sure, but I think you'll have fun with it :-)
I was debating between this phone and the iPhone 5s but after seeing this video there's a clear choice for me 1520 sounds and looks like a beast already love it and I don't even have it
LOL It certainly is a beast. No need for a mini tablet and phone anymore!
I have used Windows phone since like forever. I enjoyed days with my HTC Tilt, LG Quantum, HTC Titan, Nokia 1020 and 1520. The 1520 has been my favorite phone so far but due to lack of apps I was forced to switch to iPhone. Microsoft needs to come up with some great idea of a phone or have as many apps as IOS or Android to compete nowadays
i must say, im quite a huge wp fanboy but the lg g flex is one of the really few android phones that has me quite interested.
No joke. The Flex really took me by surprise.
Does he 1520 att version in america get LTE? Saw comment that said it’s terrible for america with no lte. Been wanting one. Also could I put a 256 micro sd for memory
Was confused between 930 and 1520... I think I will go for 1520.. Your reviews are very thorough and sincere !
Glad you enjoyed! Happy to help. I can ALWAYS use more help sharing my reviews. :-)
how is the audio recording compared to the incredible 920, which I have or the N8?? Does it have dual or triple mics? thanks
ken peffley It's better. Quad mics. Can be used to focus on a subject and provide better noise reduction, or for surround sound recording.
Nice Review, thanks, I just bought it !! Any ideas how to transfer my contacts from Nokia N9 to this device? Thanks in advance..
Great review! Thank you for going into such detail, I found this extremely helpful
You're very welcome! Happy glad you enjoyed.:-)
I can always use more help sharing my reviews too!
Hello again. Are "home tiles" considered the same as "app memory"? I'm trying to lower my storage to update to 10. I'm using 8.1 , which isn't being supported by Microsoft anymore. What if I add n SD card? How will that work then? Thanks.
Hello. I still have the 1520 want to add an SD Card. (I've never done that). How will that work with storage of data etc, and saving etc??. Thanks
do windows phones have WPS on them its a must for my job and can you put Google maps or ookla speed test app on it as well, thanks.
i really want to try this phone. currently using a one plus one and that took about a week to get use to the size. does anyone who have this think its too big or is it just like one plus one or note 3 in terms of size in hand and pocket?
I'd update to 8.1, and it's great even under preview of developer.
But may I know the Lumia 630 version 8.1 is still beta? Or official?
I'd imagine that once the 630 is out, since it'll launch with 8.1 pre-installed, we would consider that official.
can u suggest an alternative for the magic jack app i'm used to on android
I can't. I'll hunt around and see if there's a third party client?
KentSpain85 the 1520's battery life is ridiculously good
juffurey I hope it stays that way with Windows 10.
is the lumia 1520 in europe support QI plateform charger ! thx for the video
+fatalis arx Yes. European Lumias should all support Qi.
Excellent review. Some things to compliment you on: using a tripod, not having your face in the video the whole time (or at all), actually being fair and objective. So many people out there think I want to see them on camera. Uh no, it's a product review, which you totally get. Big up!
Hi, where can I get the phone stand you have here?
Older Nokia Phones in Windows Phone 8.1, allow you to have 3 Colom's of Tiles, also WinPhone 8.1 has things like a Notification Center, a lot of great things.
Juan, have you had the issue where swipes are sometimes registered as taps? My new 1520 has this now and then and want to know if replacing it might solve it.
You could check what the screen sensitivity is set to. In settings scroll down to Touch, and then see if high sensitivity is on.
This was way more than sensitivity settings. The phone was defective. I got it replaced and the new one is perfect. Thanks for the advice though.
Gotcha. Glad you got it sorted out!
Awesome review man. thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it! I can always use more help sharing my videos. :-)
Watching on my 1520 and I agree. Only complaint is kind of awkward holding the device.
XD
Lone Wulf LOL! I'm sure it would be. THat's a lot of phone to protect.
I should break out my 920. I haven't fired it up for a while.
Hoping that the 8.1 update would bring file manager as well. :)
It's my absolute biggest problem with Windows Phone and iOS. I want control over my files.
can you tell me plz , what is the type of your stylus ? provide me a link to amazon I want to buy one for my lumia 1520 ... thanks ...
Thanks!
+Nilupul Malinda Kulathunga I've heard about it, but it didn't affect my 1520. Have you tried contacting Microsoft?
JuanBagnell I haven't tried it since I don't have any warranty or something like that. I bought the phone from Dubai and I live in USA. So, even contacting the seller is a pain. If I contact Microsoft, do you think that they will help me with this problem? If so, what is the best way to contact them?
By the way, thank you very much for your respond. I really appreciate it.
+Nilupul Malinda Kulathunga Ive had this happen before on my windows phone (not a 1520) and did everything including reformatting it back to factory settings etc. Still nothing. I believe it is due to flexing the phone at one time or another, causing damage to the sensors in the display.. it seems to happen more often depending on the size of the phone, the 1520 being most common
have you heard if it will be available for T-MOBILE?
I haven't. After the 925, I would image T-Mobile would get some form of the 930, but the 1520 might remain an AT&T exclusive.
thanks.... looking forward to your review of the note 4 when it becomes available.. keep up the good work!
MASTER LEO Thanks! Looking forward to getting my hands on a Note 4 :-)
I have a 10.1 inch windows tablet... still debating on if I need a 6 inch phablet... maybe I should try to get a 1020... hmmm wish this came in a 5 inch
Yup. Tough choices. REALLY hoping we get a 1030 next year... Fingers crossed...
It does come in 5 inch size, it's a Lumia 930 or Icon...
Hey Juan... you should do an updated review for the Lumia Cyan update. Makes this phone waaayyy more attractive :)
I'll probably shoot something over the weekend. I honestly can't see much different from my Windows Phone 8.1 Dev Preview review. Am I missing stuff?
hmmm.... I may be catching up, but the start screen customisation, the new notification center, Cortana, the data, storage and wifi sense features, and Word Flow are what I've gained since the last update.
Ah. See I did a video on the Windows Phone 8.1 developer preview, so I've covered those things here:
Windows Phone 8.1, Cortana, and Legacy Hardware Support - MEGA REVIEW!
And a Tips & Tricks vid for the keyboard here:
Windows Phone 8.1 Keyboard Tips & Tricks: Slide for Characters, Cursor, and Punctuation
What I can see different from the 8.1 DevPre to Cyan are refined icons in the notification area (wifi indicator has arrows now) and "Living Images" in the camera/photo viewer.
can you download apps like Pirate Bay Browser for movie downloads?
ill wait for my 1020 replacement, would love to ceep the camera qualetty. altho the collors always gets messed up on my 1020.
I had a 925 Lumia. The camera was fantastic. What was the last model of the lumia?
Last official Nokia Lumia I believe was the 830? After that, the Microsoft Lumias ended with the 950.
I remember when I helped TA this device. I miss it...it was awesome.
+Jessie Jones no joke. 1520 was well ahead of the curve. Such a huge wasted opportunity.
Great review! Please do another one with 8.1!! Posted on a Nokia Lumia 920 with 8.1
Here you go!
Windows Phone 8.1, Cortana, and Legacy Hardware Support - MEGA REVIEW!
I just switched to att and have always had android devices. Im stuck between the lg gflex or the 1520. And i have seen your video comparing the 2 but im still undecided. Any idea what would be the best choice after all?
Well I don't mean to make this MORE complicated, but are you considering the Note 4 at all?
i havent even thought about that. well on to the next review video!
If you want to go larger screen, I'd definitely wait for the Note to drop. Playing with one at CTIA, I think it'll be a formidable phablet.
I'm really looking for an phone upgrade. Which would you recommend Lumia 1520, 1020, HTC One M8, Nexus 5, or Moto X?
LOL! You gotta narrow that down a bit. Like tell me what kinds of things you want to do with a new phone. Right now you're asking me to choose between a Prius, an Acura TSX, a Ford F250, a BMW 5, and a Volvo S60.
Take it like this - If you have the money to buy just one phone of the choices I mentioned which would you pick right off the bat?
ralph p
Definitely the 1520 ! :D
Good to see someone who knows how to review a phone.
Glad you enjoyed. :-)
it will be good, if you can show, how to use Windows Phone to edit the email message on a forwarded email. and other functions which other phone can do.
I decided that I'm going for the new 1525 if it ever comes out...
Man I hope we see new hardware. Fingers crossed it's delivered as soon as we get Windows 10. The 1520 is still a solid device, but we're due a refresh.
JuanBagnell Yes! I hope that the 1525 and windows 10 are released together. this'll be my first windows phone/ first phablet... so excited!
I think it'll be a fun time to play with Windows. What phone are you currently using if you don't mind my asking?
Does that pen work for writing notes and drawing pictures?
Something like what we saw on Samsung note series!
Andy Tetts Soon good buddy. Hoping we can get that new flagship soon....
JuanBagnell Coolio- and keep up the great work with these reviews as well
Do you know when the green and orange 1520's are getting released on AT&T? I want to get a 1520, but I really want that ridiculous green color.
LOL! I don't sorry. It's late enough in the product cycle we might not ever see those colors go to Big Blue...
For sure! Well, thanks for the good vids.
You're very welcome. Glad you enjoy it! :-)
your videos and insights are great. subscribed and liked.
ColdBlankets Glad you enjoyed :-) Thanks for the sub!
Hello. I want to add a memory card. I've been using my phone a couple of years. What will happen to the things in phone memory? Thanks
Is this phone upgradable to windows 8.1 and windows 10? 'm tired of waiting for the new flagship of WP. I'm getting this. I like the design better than the 930. I hope you reply. thanks.
+Jt Dela rosa It will be. Windows 10 Preview is running great on mine.
***** LOL it is but probably not THAT much bigger ;-)
JuanBagnell Thank you very much for the reply! I went ahead and bought it. Maybe if the 940XL is a big enough improvement over the 1520 then I'd consider going ahead and forking over the cash again. Now I'm just waiting for my 1520 to be delivered!
Patrick Riley Congrats on the new phone! Hope you love it :-)
+Vernal Scott. what is your biggest gripe about the Lumia 1520. I am thinking about getting this phone. I am growing tired of touchwiz.
nice review. i'm on a 1020 from an 800. i am intrigued by the sheer size of the 1520 and what it does to the 'experience' of windows phone. hard to see it being much better, or better at all than a 1020.
I have a few 1520 and Icon pics up on Google Plus.

thanks for that. at iso 800, the images are already very noisy, which is not surprising and normal for a censor so small. this is why i like the 1020, the optical stabaliser means i can turn the iso back down and still hold a still shot. i've shot over 1sec shutter before, with clear images.
More surface area to soak up light. SOLID advantage.
Great video Juan! I'm just curious, but how can you afford all of these beautiful Lumia's? Awesome!
Oh I can't. I have a pretty good relationship with AT&T and I've done work with Nokia since the N8 was released. It's only been recently that I've been producing content for my own personal channels.
hey buddy , good job with your video
i wanna buy second hand Lumia 1520 , however its so clean
do you think i can trust , and does it have the value to buy a second hand 1520(it has worked for 7 months) ?
arash abolabbas I honestly can't answer that. If the phone seems like it's in good condition, and you trust the seller to deliver for a good price, I don't see any issues. It's still being supported, will get Windows 10.
However we will probably see a 940XL in a couple months, and you could start saving for that.
Tnx bro, I think I go for the 1520
I believe 1520 will never repeat again, well I don't wanna risk that :p
arash abolabbas LOL then go for it bud! :-D
does anyone know when 8.1 comes out? (not the developer version).
Loved it.
had the lumia 1520.3 but discovered that that the battery drains so fast with internet and other applications.
Where is the best place to buy this phone from? Can't find it on the web..
Amazon. com
or ebay
***** Amazon
Finally ordered this phone. I tried to hold off because of the lack of wireless charging. Still holding on to my 920. Is there anyway to add the wireless charging?
At the moment, no easy way to do it. There is a PMA case from Incipio, but that wont work with your Qi chargers. There is a hack if you're brave to rip the phone apart and shove a Qi coil in there, but that's a little out of my league. forums.wpcentral.com/nokia-lumia-1520/254121-2.htm#post2276451
What about the glass display? Good , bad, great ?
One thing you fail to grasp, besides the phone itself with your small hands, is that older people have poorer eyesight and the 6" form factor helps us get stuff done by being able to see the phone better than the old 4" form factor. You are young and all you worry about is your small hands and I have small hands too. Also, I find putting the phone in an otterbox or similar protection device makes it easier to hold.
Love my 1520 too! A whopping big battery life which can last easily 3days even on 4G all the way....
What's funny though, the bigger the battery, the more I use it. It might still only last me a day and a half, but i'm now CONSTANTLY using LOL.
High Tech Pioneer Always happy to chat, and I can ALWAYS use more help sharing these vids.
Still gonna wait for your iPhone 6+ vs 1520 comparison ;) maybe prices gonna drop a little bit more until next lumia release :D
Thanks for your advice, love your reviews and tips!
I was also wandering, how well the WP 8.1 update is doing on 1520? Is there any glitch?
WP is getting really good, and the 1520 is awesome hardware. Glad you're enjoying it!
Is this pre- 8.1 ??
This is my first phone. Would you tell me which company would be best and cheapest for service. Where would I get this phone the cheapest? Where could I get the phone stand? How about where to get the stylus? Thank you! 🐯
I don't know which carrier will be cheapest in your area. I use the 1520 on AT&T and have had very good experiences with their network. The phone stand I use is an Arkon which you can get here - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D3YVZOU/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00D3YVZOU&linkCode=as2&tag=theramofsomau-20
The stylus I use I got for free at a trade show. Any inexpensive capacitive stylus should work fine. www.amazon.com/s/?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&linkCode=ur2&pageMinusResults=1&suo=1398238914121&tag=theramofsomau-20&url=search-alias%3Daps#/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=tablet%20stylus&sprefix=tablet%2Caps&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Atablet%20stylus&sepatfbtf=true&tc=1398238915583
1520 is gr8 , BUT Juan Bagnell IS GR8888888
liked your style buddy , BEST REVIEW & BEST REVIEWER
How are the speakers for recording on videos? Iphone 5 IS poor. Is this better?
I'm not sure I understand. Do you mean microphones?
Yes .. sorry the microphones
The thing that pisses me off is no 'save link as' option when browsing, its very locked down :(
Yeah it's kind of a bummer, but at least on most sites where the link takes you to something to download, you are able to download that file. I wish it handled links a bit more like pics, where long pressing gives you the options to save.
Can I get a heart 6 years later?
just bought the 1520 yesterday. After watching this, I feel comfortable in my decision. But i'm a bit disappointed in the camera. Was hoping it would be as good as the 1020. But no complaints. Lol
Nope. 1020 camera is in another league, but you have the SECOND best camera on a phone, so it's not TOO bad of a compromise... ;-)
You're right. ! Thanks for the review. It helped me make a decision. lol
Razail Peeler I'm glad to hear that, and always happy to help. If you know other folks who enjoy these kinds of tech videos, I can ALWAYS use more help sharing my vids.
Glad you like your new phone!
can i use this phone with t-mobile ???? thanks
I hope they will release a dual sim for this phone
That's actually a great point. Only dual-sim they're making noise about right now is the 630...
What stores sells that phone ? Besides online... Do u know ??
I don't sorry. Good luck.
hi juan would u still recomend the 1520 now
+simon flinn It's tough to say.
