Day 525 of asking Manly to play A Cold Love Story through TH-cam comments
Don't you just hate when you go to an art gallery and you clip through the floor?
Me too.
Happened to me just last week. I only found my way out today. It was harrowing.
I was honestly hoping they would do an Ib reference, but sadly no :(
@@theotv5522 I suppose we're Gary now
Ugh, I know! It’s terribly inconvenient
As others have said, it's definitely similar to Viewfinder but that's hardly a bad thing. It's still an incredibly creative mechanic being used for some fun puzzles and trippy visuals, and I'd say KenForest did a great job here.
Yeah, Viewfinder is a really good game but gets viewed negatively because of the crappy dialogue which is unfortunate since a game like that with such a unique mechanic deserves to be recognized for it's gameplay rather than something that isn't even the main focus of the game
Arguably more better than viewfinder imo because this does require more forethought than viewfinder
And I know viewfinder is a good game, it just lacks any sort of difficulty since a passing glance is all you need to beat a pzzule.
Here, you can actually fail because of the death pits and messing up the placements of the photos can break the photoframe you were trying to take
@@silverdededestruction2197you can break things in viewfinder too though
even more so than in this because of all the wires and the more limited film
Viewfinder had a fun game concept but had preachy annoying undertones while this game has a Mist vibe. Along with having a more artistic feeling which fits viewfinder's gameplay better then viewfinder which is hilarious.
@@mckstellar1005 I thought Viewfinder had alot of artistic feeling too, both games have different vibes
This kind of reminds me of View Finder but with horror. And that one thing in Layers of Fear where you turn the painting of doors around. Neat.
That's exactly what I thought!
same, i just watched someone play through it a few weeks ago (also loosely superliminal that came out a few years ago)
guess devs figured out how to do the fancy picture-turns-into-thing haha
When u see ur mom twice, the second time it does not remind you -> its the same
Yeah, pretty blatant rip off, makes it all the more annoying that I want this game now.
@@TheWretchedOwl This game was the developer seeing if they could recreate the concept.
I feel like that glitching fall through the map actually genuinely shocked Manly lol
Oh yeah I remember seeing the WIP of this game on twitter before
Same lmao it was unexpected asf
That noise he made is the most scared I’ve ever heard him
I laughed so hard ive never heard him make that noise LMAOO
Was it from this developer? If it wasn't then it was probably the WIP for Viewfinder.
@@SandJosieph not really, i think i saw someone else testing the same thing in art gallery map too
There's a really good puzzle game called Superliminal that uses a very similar mechanic to this one. Except you can grab just about any object, instead of pictures specifically, and where you drop the object varies its size based on perspective. That probably sounds completely different from the way I'm describing it, but in terms of gameplay, it's a lot like this picture-placing mechanic.
Everyone has heard of that game already.
@@oxymoron02I haven't. OP's comment is the first I'm hearing about it...
Viewfinder has similar puzzle vibe. With each puzzle having new way to solve
It even has a rewind feature so don’t have to reset the whole level.
It’s also very pretty and has a whole living in art theme
@@oxymoron02I’d heard of it before but couldn’t remember what it was called, I appreciate the reminder.

0:50 "The floor is wet. Not too concerned about that though." *slips*
Honestly, I really hope these "photoception" games become a whole new genre; these things have a whole lot of potential to them!
hell yeah
The mechanics and aesthetics are amazing, kinda reminds me of Superliminal.
It kind of is just Viewfinder. It has the exact same mechanics
I simply LOVE “perception is reality” as a concept. And when it’s done well (such as superliminal or viewfinder), It can create absolutely AMAZING games and an unforgettable experience. I still remember my superliminal playthrough over a year after playing, and that’s so hard to do in the world of games.
Insanely cool concept, both in a liminal space aspect but also for an Ib-like aspect (photos you may have taken from the past of things/places that are no longer there in the present, and being able to step through those moments in time)
8:05 Manly= I almost died to a banana
me= that wouldn't be very appealing.
Holy moly this game has some cool unique mechanics and visuals!
I've been watching you play obscure games for a long while but you keep finding these gems that I'm so tempted to play. Thx Manly, may your soul be empty as usual, and may the anime keep you going/hopefully not ruin your life (as it does).
Addendum: Whatever works works is exactly my mindset when it came to programming when I did front end design in college, and *that's* why they moved me to backend programming~
if you like the mechanics there is a puzzle game called viewfinder that inspired the mechanics behind this game + viewfinder has additional puzzles and stuff
Honestly after watching the first half, I believe Manly hang his paintings at crooked angles just to mess with people.
Not even 5 minutes into the video, and I'm loving the concept. Manly has found another gem of a game.
Viewfinder but with horror elements is definitely a very unique take. I kind of enjoyed this one!
Look at this photograph..
Other TH-camrs: *trying to make the solutions aesthetically pleasing *
Manly: whatever works, works
Love it.
Would like to see Manly take on a few more puzzle games with his combination of brute force and anime.
Watching Manly do everything three times harder than he had too was... Phew. Blood pressure is high.
"yeah! thinking outside our little box" proceeds to arbitrarily limit himself to an imaginary box for the very next puzzle
@@dav666777 Did not really look for shortcuts for the puzzles. but I did notice for that one hall one he could have just walked across the walls.
honestly impressed he solved them all in his brute-force manner!
@@TheDoc_K The manly way
Manly's loud gasp at falling through the floor 😂
U totally should play the new update on ''Lost in Hell''!
Nostalgic and horror at the same time
every new perspective felt like another WOAH moment. Awesome idea and awesome execution.
For those saying this is like Viewfinder, afaik this was the developer trying to see if they could recreate the concept.
Edit: The number of people in this comment section who don’t seem to know about Viewfinder is depressing.
I’m pretty sure Superliminal did it first. If anything both games are inspired by it.
Even though Viewfinder may draw inspiration from Superliminal, the developer of Liminal Gallery has stated they took concept from Viewfinder.@@xxRAINA1xx
0:56 Thats something you dont hear often from Manly.
i NEED more games like this and SuperLiminal in my life. the physics are so fascinating.
I can imagine people speedrunning this by placing photo on floor and falling into exit
It's a good thing that doesn't work then
Lesson learn: Take wet floor signs seriously.
Oh this was so cool to see in action! Props to the developer for making such a neat concept come to life. I think for me the effects were even more intense because my eyes are damaged from glaucoma so my depth perception is all messed up, and all these weird transitions made me feel like I was physically falling in some places. You kind of feel o6f balance with how the photos intersect and warp. Simply amazing!
I really like this concept. It's an 'only in videogames' sort of thing, where it uses the visual medium and player perception and interaction in ways you just can't do in other media. Quite neat.
Big fan of Ken Forest. Clever ideas, good execution. I kind of see him as in the same boat as someone like Daniel Mullins. Both think in ways that defy common sensibilities but still manage to ground everything in something understandable and immersive. Waiting eagerly for Ken's first full-blown game, cuz I can't imagine it'd be anything but a blast to the ol' melon.
This game feels just off, like something is there where even is there nothing its that antipication makes it creepy
Ooh, I love the artstyle just from the thumbnail! And the references to classic art, with that spiraling hallway! Not sure, but I think M.C. Escher might've been there?
Anyway, this game reminds me of an upcoming indie platform game where you use photos and angles to create platforms in the world around you 🥰🥰🥰
I think you're talking about the game View Finder, right?
@@camilasuemi6850yes, that's the one! Thank you so much! I always forget it, which frustrates me, so I really aprreciate this 😄
This is by far one of the coolest visual effects i've ever seen on a game, huge props to whoever designed this.
This game really trippy, but really awesome consept.
i don't think i have EVER laughed that hard, 20 seconds into a youtube before,
timing, perfect.
love your stuff man _xD!
I feel that a game with these mechanics could benefit heavily from a level editor and community-created levels. The possibilities are vast.
Manlybadasshero the type of guy to play games nobody has heard of and portray it in a majestic way
Japanese ass name
That's cuz these games are usually released less than a week before he makes a video on it
Love the Superliminal vibes from this game!
So that's how the lady astronaut got to the Moon by taking pictures and framing them
Dude I can't believe you're still uploading and thriving.
I remember watching those first few Charon yandere games you pumped out.
Really glad to see your passion for this hasn't died out.
I can't just get enough of liminal space games, I love them sooooo much! Play more Liminal Games Manly! ❤❤❤
"Not too concerned about that though"
He Says As He Falls Through The Floor.
That was very good. Loved how diffrent and crazy it was! You are so funny!
Goose! I didn't recognize the game creator but the goose totally gave em away! It's always good when the developer can create just a range of different games but still have a unique calling card that let you recognize them!
WHen you walked down the first spiral hallway I kept thinking to myself 'please look back, I'vve gotta know what it looks like even if its not any different' and then you did
Such a cool concept for a liminal space game.
I wish it was longer and more complex, with an actual story etc
this would be cool af in vr
I loved this One. I hope he keeps doing games . Specially like these.
This game was really cool! I hate to be the guy who compares works to each other, but it reminded me of the perspective manipulation of Superliminal diving through an artist's gallery like in Ib, amd both those games are amazing. I wonder if a story could be made from this, like the character freeing an evil being from a photo prison and navigating this labyrinth to recapture it...
Yes another liminal space game
This has a lot going for it, a lot more visually and mechanically fun, while being a horror game. Much more interesting than the liminal walking tech demos we see a lot these days.
That was a really cool gameplay aspect. I make 3D art, so I know that 3D modeling programs will let you essentially "subtract" a 3D shape from another 3D shape, similar to this, but I'd never seen it done in real time in a game!
That was awesome, very cool concept.
The amount of horror games manly uploads is mind-blowing.
Nickleback: Look at this Photograph....
_Great way to travel_
Imagine if you could use a beautiful picture of Italy or a Greek island and just walk right into it, anytime. I like the concept - I enjoyed the doors. I did not enjoy the spider!
This game reminded me a little of Viewfinder, another game that used photos to create new realities with a Polaroid camera. Very cool, nice to see the signature Goose too!
What a cool idea and so well executed!
This was a solid idea, I’m gonna buy this for my kid and I to play
"God I almost died to a banana"
You almost got Donkey Kong'd , DK! DONKEY KONG!
Viewfinder but spooky, and *extra* trippy! Also less brain power required (I think).
I was so ready to make an Ib or Super Mario 64 joke, but I liked this. Spawning rooms through paintings is neat!
LMAO THE DEATH SOUND AT THE START. thank you manly
I love this so much. I have no idea how they do it but I'm kinda obsessed and want more and bigger!
0:56 “not too concerned about that” famous last words 😂
Thank you for the food, Manly!
I really liked the concept and the visuals of the game
Would love to see Manly play superliminal
Fun perspective/interface screw.
And it has that one level that matches with the horror content of the channel
I actually like this a lot more than the original game that featured the premise, it doesn't have a preachy narrative constantly drilling at you the entire time... And I like the darker setting as well. Someone could really take this concept places.
That is a great game concept!
Christ how this is implanted must be nuts, scaling and orienting based of the presoective of the character while taking objects into consideration an snapping to them when put down so much happening must be a bonkers setup.
after watching that, i lost my braincells but great work on the video
This game is a must for anyone that's tripping. Love the concept/visuals. Damn and it's free
"Oh my God I almost died to a banana" Manly
I love the giddy manly, really full of personality's 👍
This game reminds me a good bit of Superliminal, one of my favorite games ever. You should give it a try sometime, it has some horror themes in it a bit for some levels and all that weird perspective goodness.
Woah! This game looks really neat!
Love the concept
Really love the concept of this one.
Fun concept. With a good story, this could be really good.
Manly being intentionally chaotic and forcing more difficult solutions is both hilarious and frustrating to watch. Never change, Manly.
The fact that I've already seen a full play through this game before this is wild lol
Why is it wild? You watched one video about this game, now you're watching a second.
@@oxymoron02 I'm used to Manly being first TH-camr I follow to play games, so it's wild to me when he isn't
this is good game concept , more adventure games should have this
Not very much horror, but I just love the mechanic of perception being forced to become reality.
this feels like a proof of concept given the variety of other games this dev has made
Damn what an awesome concept 👏👏👏
8:29 "Eye see.." Was perfect comedic timing, Manly. Absolutely perfect.
lol when Manly yelled "nooo" he reminded me of courage the cowardly dog. The rounded 'no' is what does it.
This guy should attempt to patent his concept. Its clever and brilliantly executed. Some studio will use it
I saw this game (or a very similar one) on Tiktok a while ago. I thought it was fake 😅. Such a cool format.
The gameplay is elite man. I haven't been this impressed since the game where you use spray to make a map. And I'm 99% sure forest made that game too. This person must be protected at all cost. He needs a huge fund to make games that will be remembered by everybody. He has the image and the talent. Now he needs the budget
tbh i thought the puzzles in this were pretty bad, the concept was awesome but i really felt like it was wasted on those puzzles. I think it might've been better without the ability to rotate pictures? I really felt like that took away from the importance of having the correct perspective
Whenever I see games like these I immediately think of Ib. I really enjoy the concept
Manly post one video each day I wonder if he is okay don't overdo yourself manly I'm still gonna enjoy watching the video tho, good job and thanks you ❤
Ik manly is a horror tuber but if he had another channel for like, standard games, I’d watch the shit out of that
That's a neat concept. I love games that capture the random weirdness of dreams. Also, geese and ducks are a plus for any game.
Why are they a plus for any game?
@@StrangeScaryNewEngland They are a plus for pretty much anything.
Manly going down the list of liminal games
Whoa was not expecting the casual drop of random touhou lore. I’m actually impressed that you know the weirdly important moon lore of touhouverse.
That was super cool!!
I'm starting to think Markiplier was actually the genius one, padding for watch time. There's no way he climbed all those pillars to the gazebo without realizing all he needed to do was to take a picture of it xD
I have a extreme phobia of liminal spaces and i still watched.
