The secret ending implies that what we saw in the normal ending is just the mother losing her sanity while secret ending shows the son is already dead which the mother still grieves.

The one I remember only has one child, I think? But there was one where a mother fight off all sorts of monsters... Aha! "Mom - Horror Can't Beat Mom" is what I'm thinking of. It's also not a single parent mom, but I recommend that one away. It's the one I remember strongly even now.
It is indeed MOTHER. I really loved this game and watching ManlyBadassHero play it, so I have high hopes for MIMIC as well, since the premise is the same. I'm going to watch the video right now.

Also, the intro is reminiscent of the intro of a Life of Luxury intro. I sound young and dumb, but I am 16, so I might be.
My first thought is that her kid got assaulted (molested?) by either a family friend or teacher--that whole "he went away and then came back sad and he kept talking about a man who wants him" bit? Yeeeah. So it's not guilt that the kid died in a random accident, it's guilt the mother failed to protect him from another adult. And the titular 'mimic' is either the predatory man mimicking a normal, friendly adult or the child being so affected by the assault that he's acting like a shell of himself--a mimic.
With this theory the hands in his drawings become alot more sad to think about

@@user-gu9yq5sj7c mostly because the most literal reading wasn't making a whole lot of sense. The mother is clearly treating the child in her house as her own son and not an imposter, so who's the mimic? Why wouldn't she call the police about a scary cult standing outside her house? Stories frequently use metaphor and allegory to communicate ideas that aren't working on a literal level.
i think they're using the metaphor of taking care of the kid as guilt for all the times she ignored her child's needs, her neglect eventually leading to his death. now all she does all day is give him all the things she refused him while he was still alive, as her punishment. thats why "i'm cold, im hungry, i'm scared" are most significant. the abuse theme will hit hard for a lot of people I picked up on that instantly..

I was surprised by how good Manly's pronunciation of the names was, and then he really struggled with camioneta. Although to be fair who names their plushy truck/pickup?
Camioneta is Spanish for pickup/truck

I normally don't like this distortion either but for this one it worked. It was simple and didn't give me a headache or visual vertigo.

Agree that this was the mother's psychological horror about her inability to cope with the death of her son, maybe after some prolonged illness which exhausted her. I liked the creepy people at the windows and the knocking at the door. That kind of knocking is always creepy.

Sure our windows can handle hurricanes but we had a particularly cold winter some years back and my window in my bedroom popped with a giant crack running through it. Scared the life out of me! It sounded like a gun shot.

This game gives off the impression that it originally was going to have this dark, intriguing story about a mothers struggle to protect her son from an unseen force but then just said 'screw it' and instead we got whatever this was.
I thought for sure the creatures outside would be like "why do you have our son" revealing that the kid was actually theirs, who ran away from them and was mimicking a human boy after switching with the real kid

But yea yours is pretty cool and even wholesome in a way , wish it was that than the "very original" self kill plot yet again xD .

I prefer their Canine game to this, but it's still nice and creepy all in all. As for the interpretation, I'm leaning more towards it all being psychological over there actual being a monster, in part due to the visuals.
