The amount of stuff that might have happened during the world wars but went completely unnoticed and is forgotten still baffles me… so much history and suffering 🥺
Can you imagine wat some of them folks went through and had to live with after they were raped and beaten and watch their family get killed infront of them??Lived with it and never said nothing about,,,took it to their graves.
Couldn’t agree more. Everyone in a government position that starts a war needs to be in active combat of what they produced, front line! That would make them think twice. Combat is HELL.
I could be wrong but it’s an assumption of mine that he kind of adds in a lot of bonus details that aren’t actually in the stories you read on the news to make it a better story but I’m not sure it’s always entirely the story
I've read about this operation many many times. But when MrBallen tells the story out loud, it makes the story almost come to life. I've been subscribed for over 2 years now and tune in every single Sunday without missing a video even once, and still to this day I eagerly wait to hear MrBallen tell a story. At this point, it's not even about the story, it's about how he tells it. Very special talent that everyone in the world can relate to. Everyone loves to hear a good story that's told extremely well. Great job John. I'm a 34 year old man and I feel like an interested curious little boy again every Sunday for about 20-30min lol. Thank you Sir.
I agree with you totally. I understand he's very busy with other work, his podcast and charity but I still miss when he used to upload 3 to 4 times a week. Those were good times...

The fact that the British acknowledged the poor homeless man as a military officer, and gave him an honorary mark on his grave as a sign of respect is so wholesome that I shed some tears.
Right? I thought the same thing. They easily could have claimed one of their own did it, but to properly credit Glyndwr shoud how much respect they had for him.
@@savebandit1017 The Spanish buried him with full military honours as William Martin, but he was only identified as Glyndwr Michael in 1996. I'm assuming the updated headstone inscription a couple of years later was down to the UK Government.
I'm English and my dad lived through the war and was only a couple of years too young to fight. My grandfather fought and my dad's sister made fighter airplanes. So I've always been interested in it as it played such a role in their generation's lives. So I know this story very well, having seen the British movie about it as a child and it was still very exciting to hear how MrBallen told the story. You have a great talent for bringing the listener along with you and unfolding the stories like a movie and not a new report. Yet you still keep it respectful to the victims. You do a better job of entertaining than many movies that cost millions.
@@SeeDaRipper... - There is a great old black and white movie called "The Man Who Never Was" (1956) based on a great book of the same name. There is also one called "Operation Mincemeat" (2021) which I haven't seen yet. A cool fact not mentioned here is that Ian Fleming the creator of James Bond played a small part in this plan. He was the assistant to Britain's director of naval intelligence the man who greenlit this plan and who was also the real-life inspiration for M in the Bond Books.
The fact that they paid Glyndwr such great respect even after his passing is easily one of the most legitimate, genuine examples of 'real love' that humans could give to one another. Rest in paradise, my brother.
The fact that the name of the man whose body was used is memorialized is just a small thing in the overall scope of this historical event but really touched me. This does sound like a plot that I'd roll my eyes at if they made a movie out of it but knowing it did happen just reinforces that sometimes fact really is stranger than fiction.
it's worthwhile reading Ben McIntyre's excellent book about this operation. the sheer minute steps that were taken to pull this off were frankly amazing. and the human aspect is touching
@@mickymondo7463 the book goes into far more detail. even how they invented and doubled down on intricate back stories for him, along with their concerns of being rumbled. it really is an excellent read
MrBallen is that one guy who gathers everyone around the campfire and then tells a scary story about the forest and then makes everyone not want to go camping anymore 😂
As soon as he started this story I wondered if it was this! One of my primary school teachers (elementary school for Americans) was the daughter or granddaughter of a member of the submarine crew that dropped the body into the water, so I learned about this at a really young age. Mr Ballen just stirred up a memory I thought I'd forgotten long ago
I had the same reaction. I had seen the Ronald Neame film The Man Who Never Was (1956), so as soon as "Martin's" name was mentioned, I knew it was this story. I intend to see the 2021 version of this story (Operation Mincemeat) soon.
As someone who has researched weird WWII history and regards Operation Mincemeat as a personal favourite, I was so excited to hear your version of the story. In fact, I knew exactly what it was by the word “fisherman.” Fantastic work, sir!
I work as a Production Designer/ Art Director and one thing I've always loved about this job is that you create lived in worlds. The audience will never see half of it, or care, but when I dress sets and fill them with history it just adds a layer of realism that makes it feel so much more real and it comes across in the final films/shows. This is proof that details can really bring it all together and sell the illusion.
@@weslittlereptilefamily3418 Thank you, my friend 🙂 Ken was a big inspiration to me too, I used his Bond work as a starting point for a couple projects.
This is such a crazy example of 'it takes all sorts'. It really does. He was the perfect man for the job. The job happened to be helping end WWII, and he happened to be an unmissed vagrant, and that's somehow exactly what the world needed at that moment. That's mind-blowing, this story is just nuts. I love that they memorialised him and his, albeit unknowing, contribution. Very touching
Right!! We never know how important we can be. Ppl prob walked over him, threw trash, laughed at him - all the things ppl do to homeless ppl today… And this man was the one who changed a whole world war 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Operation Mincemeat was a masterpiece. With so many moving parts and a few wildcards that had to fall the right way, it's nothing short of a miracle that it succeeded.
First time I heard this years ago I thought it was an amazing operation to trick the axis. I am also glad this man got honored for being part of something that insured the success of Invasion of Sicily.
My 10 year old daughter and i both looked up operation Mince Meat. It got her into a little bit of history about WWII. Thank you for making WWII a little more interesting to learn about. She is now on a mission to find other secrwt operations they used in WWII and looked up the Uship andnother submarines. Science, history, and math. A perfect story. 👍👍
the British intelligence and counter intelligence was a masterclass in WW2. Even Hitlers most trusted spy was a british spy feeding incorrect info especially on the lead up to D-Day. even creating false battalions of men and equipment / tanks etc on the other side of the country making and using inflatable tanks, tents and atillery.
Tell her there was an unacknowledged mission by the US through Scotland that was to locate and clean up a secret Nazi spot. A friend told me of this and said they were expendable and had only 24 hours to get it done. I wonder how many more of these missions happened. ?!
Read a book called Agent Zigzag. It’s about a guy named Edward Arnold Chapman who was a double agent. Absolutely fascinating story that not many are aware of.
Let's celebrate the joy this man has brought in to our lives, all with stories about the strange, dark, and mysterious. When you think about it, that's not really easy to do, especially when you bring stories with sadness. What makes him so successful is that he talks to us like we're a lifelong friend that is valued and appreciated, and WE LOVE IT!!!!
Are you freaking kidding me? Never heard of this before... Mr. Ballen your research and retelling is superb! No one can tell these stories quite like you. It's obvious you care deeply about them and the people involved in them and that passion comes through your videos and it makes listening to them all the more intriguing. This channel is one of a kind!
Same. There are stories I've heard before (like this one) but I will still listen to Mr.B tell them because he's so good at it. In fact, I've shared links with people to his stuff and, they said they've already heard it, I'll say, "You haven't heard HIM tell it." Then they will message me back and say, "You're right, he's a great story teller."
The Why Files covered this story Thursday. It's a great story and I remember Major Martin story in school. The more channels that cover this great story, the better. This is probably one of the very few times that I'm happy to hear it twice in 1 week. The best part is hearing a detail that I hadn't heard before. Thank you for covering it Mr. Ballen.
G. Michael may have lived a lonely life, but in death he is adored and honored by all who hear his story. And the fact they made him military and buried him like one is such human compassion. They didn't just treat him like a dead prop. He was a human being whose death, unknowingly, was crucial to the war. So thank you, G. Michael. 🙏🏻
@@jwst8 you don't know, and even if he did, that's sad, but that doesnt take away the fact that his death allowed a turning point in the war. Even if it was not his intentions, and even though he knew nothing of it, his death, and therefore his body, was still crucial to the war.. and he deserves compassion and respect for it.
Such a cool story! I’ve never heard it before. My husband was an MP with the Army, and loves war history. Thank you for an incredible story, and I’m going to have my husband watch this video!
It’s not mentioned in this video but the Nazis did acquire real intelligence about D day and where it was going to start later in the war. But because of the incident in Sicily they didn’t believe it and were less prepared because of it. I absolutely love Mr. Ballin’s videos.
actually , this info was also fabricated . they let it slip that Patton was in the UK and was going to attack France in a different area further north .
My Grandfathers were both in WWII and they told a few unbelievable stories about their journeys, although not that often. I can’t remember loving these accounts of battles and missions that are a part of our countries history
We never really knew that my grandfather was a Battered Bastard of Bastogne until two weeks before he died. Saw what I thought was his look-alike in an episode of G.I. Diary and said, "but it couldn't be you because you weren't there..." "The hell I wasn't! ..." And that's the only time he told us the whole story. He came home an alcoholic (PTSD?) and would talk about places like the Ardennes, and St Vith. And Malmedy. But we never realized. SO glad we talked before he passed away.
Both my grandfathers were in WWII also. Maternal grandfather was a medic at Pearl Harbor. Paternal was a Marine sniper. Neither talked much about their experiences.
@@shanegraham2500 Yo Shane I know you’re proud of your grandfathers. There were nothing in this world comparable to those stories that they told, when they actually did tell them, which wasn’t a lot. Thanks for sharing that with us and I hope you have a blessed July 4 th
There is actually a film about this, called Operation Mincemeat. :D But you told the story better, than the film itself. Thats something. Best storyteller in the world! Love your TH-cam videos!

Funfact : The driver who carried the dead body in a coffin through the roads in dark night of Britain into the submarine , was also a major inspiration for the character of James Bond. As his favourite car was Aston Martin, and he was a very fast and efficient driver.
Ballen, I've spent my life scouring for the kind of stories you present. There have been a few that you've told that I have known of already but for the most part they're fascinatingly obscure. Whomever is on your staff, they are doing a phenomenal job.

Is there a person in existence that has actually heard one of MrBallen's stories that didn't go directly to his channel to binge watch everything he ever put out? It is truly unbelievable to me that a person of the sort could be real!!!
@@JesserDaddy I don't believe he "stole" anything! How can one steal a historical fact? There are several people out there that present these types of stories and this is not the first time where their timing to tell a common story has coincided. Also, they all basically have commercials for just about all the same companies because those companies search out these platforms to run ads on and they give a basic format for the channel owner to design their ad around. I highly doubt the other channels "same Prince ad" featured good ol Lungy and a handicapped eel with a walker. Purely bad timing on both parties account.
Damn this operation was a work of genius! The fact that they knew exactly the steps that the Spanish and Germans would take is absolutely amazing! And I love the fact that Glyndwr Michael got credited for his role in defeating the Nazis and turning the tide for the Allies 🥺
Obviously; to each their own but imo it's too much. His natural movements of 2 years ago were very comforting. Today I stopped his video for the first time due to the hand gestures. It has become distracting to me.
I'm from the UK and had heard this story, but your version had details I didn't know, and I loved how you started it from the POV of the fisherman - a great telling, thank you! Haven't seen anyone mention this in the comments yet, so for anyone interested, there's a musical about this story currently running in the West End, called 'Operation Mincemeat', and it's absolutely brilliant, very funny and moving - heartily recommend it if you can go!
There is also a book called "Operation Mincemeat- How a dead man and a Bizarre Plan Fooled the Nazis and Assured an Allied Victory" by Ben Macintyre, its a really entertaining read

I am greatly IMPRESSED that you knew how to correctly pronounce Cholmondeley. Being Australian I am proud that Charles Cholmondeley was an Australian RAF officer seconded to MI5. You didn't mention the fact that one of the two officers who came up with this brilliant ruse was Ian Fleming, the author of the James Bond series of books.
This is the one I immediately thought of when it was brought up how crazy it sounded. It is such a wild story, but it's truly amazing to see the creative ways that both sides went through to get the upper hand like this in the war. Didn't know they made him an offical military officer when it was done however, that part brought a small tear to the eye to know.
By far, one of my absolute favorite stories by MrBallen. I definitely would of paid attention in my history classes back in the day if he were my teacher 🙌

I started documenting stories my grandfather and the men that served in WW2 and Korea years ago. I didn’t want those stories to die with them. All of those men have long passed, but it is so important we get these experiences recorded so generations from not will know them. That is true generational wealth
It is not just about the selection of the stories, but the storytelling skill of Mr Ballen never ceased to amaze me. That makes this channel continuously captivating. Another good 'episode'.
As an American born of a British American I am proud of this solder's sacrifice and the fact he was given the status and honors due an officer of the crown.
As a kid growing up in the 50s and a teen in the 60s we boys always wanted combat stories from veterand. They wouldnt talk about it. I came to understand why, so many still dealt with the horror. I am glad that now many are talking, getting the stories of the PFC or the young Seaman on record. We can learn from the people fighting the war vs those running it.
What are the odds that two of my favorite TH-cam channels cover the same crazy story in the same week? Double treats! A Mr. Ballen and The Why Files collaboration would be awesome.

I got so excited when I realized what you're talking about my workout went by like a breeze! Though you left out one of my favorite detail: Because of this event the nazis didn't trust intel found on corpses anymore. When they later got their hands on legitimate information regarding D-Day thanks to Major Martin they decided "no, this is definitely fake" and continued with shoring up the wrong place. Cue surprised pikachu when the Allies landed.
I knew this story but didn’t realize until the fisherman found the briefcase. But I listened anyway because you told it so much better than I’d heard it before.

Ya...I love the movie, "U571," with Mathew McConaughey...they tricked the enemy too! But they got the enigma! That turned the tables of war too!!! 😅💯💥💫💥💫💥💫💥💫
I love this Operation. It was listed as an option for a plan of deception and it was listed as “Suggestion 28 (and not a very nice one)” - the creator of James Bond wrote this by the way. Churchill loved what he called “corkscrew thinkers” (out of the box to the US) and he knew that “Hitler thought in a straight line”. They even wore the uniform for weeks to make it seemed used. We also placed an eyelash in the envelope seal to confirm that once it was handed back, the Spanish hadn’t placed the eyelash back in the seale and so they knew it had been opened. That’s where the eyelash technique in James Bond came from.
The amount of stuff that might have happened during the world wars but went completely unnoticed and is forgotten still baffles me… so much history and suffering 🥺

This was a very interesting story. The details they added…the backstory… and the honor they gave that homeless man❤ I enjoyed the story
Love the way the operation was put into action, very cool,
There was a movie released a short time ago. Operation Mincemeat.
It’s not all it makes out to be .beilieve that .
I'm glad we got more info about the fisherman that found the body. Telling the story from this angle really brings it to life.
I could be wrong but it’s an assumption of mine that he kind of adds in a lot of bonus details that aren’t actually in the stories you read on the news to make it a better story but I’m not sure it’s always entirely the story
This bit is completely mad up.
This angler heh
Fisherman... Angle..
IMO the homeless man, if he actually was homeless, was more likely murdered.
Same here, what a great listen
I agree with you totally. I understand he's very busy with other work, his podcast and charity but I still miss when he used to upload 3 to 4 times a week. Those were good times...

Operation Mincemeat..I heard this a few years back..
The grave is in Spain, not sure the British had anything to do with it.
@@savebandit1017 The Spanish buried him with full military honours as William Martin, but he was only identified as Glyndwr Michael in 1996. I'm assuming the updated headstone inscription a couple of years later was down to the UK Government.
Realy
That's the least they could do after being likely the ones to poison him. Research it more. It's sad.
Yes, l agree! Very good story teller!
What was the movie called mate?
@@SeeDaRipper... - There is a great old black and white movie called "The Man Who Never Was" (1956) based on a great book of the same name.
There is also one called "Operation Mincemeat" (2021) which I haven't seen yet.
A cool fact not mentioned here is that Ian Fleming the creator of James Bond played a small part in this plan. He was the assistant to Britain's director of naval intelligence the man who greenlit this plan and who was also the real-life inspiration for M in the Bond Books.
In addition I believe Mr Ballen did a much better job talking about the Cocaine Bear story than the movie
@Christine Monte sure, for true story style. But that movie was fun af.

Wow that’s really cool I wonder why this doesn’t have more likes
you do relise that the term elementary school orginated in the UK and NOT IN THE USA ! once again the USA COPIED THE UK !
I had the same reaction. I had seen the Ronald Neame film The Man Who Never Was (1956), so as soon as "Martin's" name was mentioned, I knew it was this story. I intend to see the 2021 version of this story (Operation Mincemeat) soon.
Not be annoying, but many Americans do in fact call it primary school. Even some schools call themselves primary schools.

I see those things in movies and I do care and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the amazing work 🤩
Thats an awesome job. The most underapretiated part of film making. My favorite art director/set designer is Ken Adam. I hope you have great success

I teared up when they mentioned his memorial. What an honor. I hope he's proud if beyond the grave exists.
Operation Mincemeat was a masterpiece. With so many moving parts and a few wildcards that had to fall the right way, it's nothing short of a miracle that it succeeded.

G. Michael may have lived a lonely life, but in death he is adored and honored by all who hear his story. And the fact they made him military and buried him like one is such human compassion. My Grandfathers were both in WWII and they told a few unbelievable stories about their journeys, although not that often. I can’t remember loving these accounts of battles and missions that are a part of our countries history
Because there's nothing to love about war.....😢
We never really knew that my grandfather was a Battered Bastard of Bastogne until two weeks before he died.
Saw what I thought was his look-alike in an episode of G.I. Diary and said, "but it couldn't be you because you weren't there..." "The hell I wasn't! ..." And that's the only time he told us the whole story. He came home an alcoholic (PTSD?) and would talk about places like the Ardennes, and St Vith. And Malmedy. But we never realized. You and AJ from the Why Files are so good at your jobs that even though you posted the “same story” within 24 hours of each other, it only made it come alive for me even more. Felt like Christmas today. 😌❤️
I knew this was that same story as soon as he started. Just watched this on Why Files, as well.
Wow that’s a major spoiler right there. I won’t read comments before the story from now on
@jjtruelove11 so you would rather listen to the same story twice??? Your statement makes no sense
Yep, I watched it on the Why Files.
me too i was looking for this comment what a shitty coincidence they are the best😊
Agreed! He's amazing!
I’ve never seen a more masterful storyteller. He needs his own TV show.
Baa! Baa! Baa!
Good sheep!
YESSSSSSS!
As an American born of a British American I am proud of this solder's sacrifice and the fact he was given the status and honors due an officer of the crown.
What a story.. wow! I worked at a veterans home and had the pleasure of meeting many WW2 veterans. I heard so many amazing stories. True heroes!
Odds are there's a copy cat making vids
naw this is like the 2nd time hes done this
Truly!!! Greetings fellow WTFer!!
Hell yeah! I love The Why Files!!!
I just came to say that these guys are also my favourite🙌- and if you have any other recommendations for this type and standard of content, I would be SO grateful - I just wait for new uploads from Mr B and AJ 😂 🤷♀️👏
I LOVE hearing WWII stories. I’ve always chatted up vets and tried to get whatever stories I could because it’s history!! My Grandpa Waelchli was POW for two years. He never spoke about it.
Mr ballen telling these types of stories are even better. Please do more!!
I, too, am a history fanatic. Especially, WWII. I'm in my late 30s but ever since 6-7th grade. My history teacher ignored my love for it and ever since I've gobbled up many films, books, docudramas, documentaries, etc.
💛
Thanks Mr Ballen for covering this story. Im from the UK and there are many genius operations similar to this that we came up with during the war but are not common knowledge to the public. Its always amazed me that the odds of these working seem minimal but have worked. Quite incredible
@@insanitywolf5049I just reported it and I was surprised that it was instantly removed. Many of us out here have been reporting this spam on many sites, looks like YT is finally doing something about it. Money grubbing leaches are the lowest scum.
Mrballen is back!!! For some reason he seemed stressed and somewhat worried lately but he is back to his old self. I am so glad. God bless you Mrballen and may you be happy always. Love from Nigeria 🇳🇬🇳🇬
Thee prince?
Too many mean comments
@@Amyscreativestudio I am not a Nigerian prince but an honest Nigerian citizen who has been an ardent listener and fan of Mrballen since 2021. I am female not even male. So please because few people are scammers does not mean all of us are.
@@ememmichaeludo2044 It was a joke because of what he said in the video! Nothing else, Nigerians are great people.
This doesn't sound quite like science fiction but damn, your research & ability to find these incredible stories is phenomenal. Even the more popular stories we might've heard, you provide detail, yes, but your emotion behind all of it creates a perfect atmosphere for listening. I love your work because you do a great job.
Also, everytime you tell me to smash that like button in a different way each episode makes me laugh like I just heard a Dad joke. Good stuff. ALOT of people would binge watch you on Netflix
I have never seen anyone this good at story telling, he literally takes you there.😃
@RealMrBallen1. Realme ballen,
What? Is this a bot?
@@thezombieguy426yeah, it is
The why files channel tells this much better and in more detail in my opinion.
@outofmind9222 No one asked for your trash opinion. Go over to that persons page and get off this one.
Heard this story from my grandpa a while back but never quite understood just how significant and complicated it actually was.
A movie 'Operation Mincemeat' was released in 2021 starring colin firth. Summed it all up pretty well
Hey mr. Ballen thanks again for making my Saturday and help keeping me inspired too stay sober with your story telling. Have a great weekend and happy fathers day!!!
Here's to your sobriety ! 🎉 so proud of you stranger ☺️
@@grungepen thanks bud hope you have a great day!
@@coltonsnider7848 you as well, take care ☺️!
It has been just a little bit since I've been able to watch you mr. Ballen, long story short broke my collarbone and I'm in so much pain. Of course now I have to binge watch so I can catch up! I just wanted to say thank you for giving me something amazing to watch while I'm sitting in here waiting surgery. You sir are a legend!!!!
I have never broken a bone in my life but sounds pretty miserable
How bizarre...you and The Why Files both did a story on this guy within 24 hrs of one another. If it was recently i could see but its almost 100 year old story ...You both tell it similar but with different details and emphasis...plus your a great orator so very detailed! Pretty cool to see 2 of my favorite channels put their own spin on the same story!
NO ONE does strange, dark and mysterious better than John! Love your content! ❤❤
thank you!!
Can't there be a dedicated comment where people can reply with worshipping comments, otherwise the entire comment section is just time wasting spam of no relevance to the content
@@laurenk6741Why are you so concerned about it that you keep leaving the same comment on multiple threads?🤔🙄 You’re expecting too much from people & you seem spammy yourself by leaving the same comment on multiple threads.
@@laurenk6741
I agree.
Murder stories and tragedies are not the place for “LOOK AT ME” comments.
They’re so cliche.
“I remember my first beer too”.
@@angelastone4806
Here you are again…arguing with ZERO ability to substantiate.
You’re just a defensive little drama queen that relies on rhetoric to back yourself up.
Grow up.
I learned about this in my history class this year! I got so excited when you mentioned how the body was made up and was like, "oh my gosh I actually know this story!" thanks for covering another awesome story!👍👍
Check the why files for a better recount of this story , ballen copies 😅
Ive seen that frozen face of horror trapped in a baby that had dies of "SIDS", snot coming out of it's nose and mouth, "dispatch", convinced me to still try resuscitation even though that baby was stiff as a board. I can still remember the screams of horror of the young mother....I was very young too... I tried, resuscitation, even knowing nothing would revive this infant.... I could not eat gravy for at least the next 10 years. The experience haunts my mind still, from time to time...Just that face of suffering frozen in this poor infant's face, fore-head wrinkled in agony.........
Mr ballen, if you happen to see this message I absolutely adore your videos. You have a gift when it comes to story telling. Also, thank you for your service to this country. You are not only an amazing story teller but a hero to many also. I hope one day to meet you in person because, we’ll, man you just seem simply awesome and a great person to have a conversation with bc I could guarantee the chat could never run dry. Keep up the good work with all that you do, Sir. You make a difference.
This was by far my FAVORITE Mr.Ballen story. His stuff just stays FRESH and I appreciate him so much for that! Never knew this about history and now I have something to make me sound educated at lunch with friends lol. Love your stuff don’t ever stop creating please!!
How did your channel and the WHY FILES channel do the same story within a few days of each other? You guys have to be talking behind the scenes about it. You both are great at what you do and it's cool to get a double dose of the same story, only told in two unique styles. Keep up the great work.
Hecklefish and seagull lung collaboration 😂 yes Thursday why files covered this
@@The_SCPFoundation I must have missed it. I'm a fan of the collab though.
I noticed the same thing lol
Lol I just said the same. WHY FILES was a day earlier, but what are the chances they both did the same story almost on the same day
I noticed about halfway through 🤣
Mr. Ballen, you tell this story so well. You make the story so fascinating, not boring. I would rather listen to how you tell it than reading textbook history.
I have heard this story be iterated differently every time without compromising the integrity of the story itself, this was easily one of the best. MrBallen, you have done it again!
As soon as you combined spanish fisher and dead body my mind instantly clicked and I knew exactly was this story was about!
Edit: Wow I never knew the man was a homeless man that might have commited suicide, but in death participated in a operation that saved millions of lives warmed my heart.
The content of this channel and the way Mr Ballen tells a story is just brilliant. I’m never disappointed 👍👍🇬🇧👍
They really pulled off a "YOU ACTIVATED MY TRAP CARD!" on Germany.
Thank you Mr. John b Allen we all love you and are thankful for bringing us all together to enjoy the stories you present , I’ve been watching for about 2 1/2 - 3 years and will never stop
How crazy to see your following now, Mr. Ballen! I started watching you before you hit 1M and now you’re climbing up there! You’re my favorite story teller! ❤
Those British Intelligence officers came up with a damn good plan!
I LOVE these war stories that I’ve never heard before!
I hope Glyndwr’s death wasn’t too horrible....but I’m so happy to hear that he became a hero (even in death!) and his body played such a vital role in WW 2! It’s nice to see he even got recognition on his gravestone ❤️.
ive heard this story a few times but the angle you took from the Spanish side made it a lot more immersive. Keep killing the game
The Why Files covered this last Thursday. Both told the story completely different, and both completely nailed it! Great job!
First heard this on The Why Files as well, I feel like he covered a lot of the lead up events much more indepth, while this iteration felt way more vivid in the events post body being dumped.
I had read about this operation in past, but I'm sure most ppl haven't. It was really great to hear this story fron the master storyteller!
Thank you, Mr Ballen!
Being a baby boomer, I was fortunate to have a Dad that served in WW2. He served in Germany during the war. He was a bit silent about some stories but when he watched "The World at War" he would be reminded of certain operations and he would turn off the TV and tell me awesome stories of his experiences in Germany. I remember him telling this story. Thank you Mr. Ballen for reminding me of my Dad. He's been gone for 33 years and I still miss him.
@@sueplummer6669
Also a baby boomer, 1945 vintage. I think we have had more interest since we were closer to this war. As a history buff, it's hard for me to be sympathetic to those who don't. My dad was off to the Philippines, but not before I was conceived. What has happened since then should not belittle the trials they bore, or honor they deserve!
This was an awesomely told tale of one of the most important missions of WWII. Thank you, Sir. May we have another?
Ya...I love the movie, "U571," with Mathew McConaughey...they tricked the enemy too! But they got the enigma! That turned the tables of war too!!! 😅💯💥💫💥💫💥💫💥💫
@@SummerSetBytheSea you mean the movie where the yanks took the credit for everything the British did?
We talked about this in my history class during our WW2 unit and I thought it was such a fascinating story! Thank you for covering it!
