Live down the road from Hedgerley & Langley Park and have loved this movie since the 70's. Every Parent should sit down and watch this movie with their children, An amazing movie and superb British cast to boot.
This is the first time hearing about this movie.. That mother in law is one old hog for love off money and that uncle is a just worse money money hogs.. I love the children..
Wow, thank you so much for posting. This makes me yearn for my childhood, when movies such as this one, were a regular tv staple. Sadly, not so much now. All the cast were amazing - especially Laurence Naismith - and Diana Dors terrified me as the villainous Mrs. Wickens.😆Just a beautiful movie - the like of which we will never see again.
We had good actors and actresses back then even children weirdly enough you can either act or you cant. But these days you rarely get good. But go for second maybe the stories were better then.
Türkiye'den Merhaba. Ben filmlerinize Türkçe alt yazı eklemenizi rica ediyorum. İngilizcem tüm konuşmaları anlayacak kadar iyi değil. Türkçe alt yazı eklerseniz çok mutlu olurum. Sağlıkla ve huzurla kalın.😊🤍
.."a select hotel." What was that scene? Children being shown, partially clothed, to old men? ( It's been going on a long time in the arts hasn't it.) Really could have done without that. Someone caved to pressure.
The early 19th century, cloistered, innocent children narrating were relating a story second or third hand. They han't actually visited the place, and didn't really know what was truly going on there. As such it was done to illustrate just how rotten the villains were. The scene would have been far from uncommon at the time (in 1812 they were still indenturing children and wives for debts owed by deceased fathers). Its unlikely the filmmakers had intended any "Epstienian" in meaning as you seem to be assuming.
Definitely a treat from the 1970's when English movies are a treat.😂❤

On your suggestion, I will watch this movie with my granddaughters.
Wow! What a treasure. I've never heard of this one before. Won't be forgetting it now

This reminds me of The Children of Green Knowe. Another lovely period film.

Diana's acting would not be allowed even 20 or 30 years ago! And Lynne Frederick looked young enough to be casted in Alice that year.
Lovely Film ♥️👍 👻

victoriana was so trendy in the 60s and earl 70s ....nice

lovely ending
Good old-fashioned ghost story for children and young teens.
Good old British cinematography
I think Lucie was a beautiful girl back then ❤ but unfortunately she died at the age of 39 from alcohol discorde in 1994😢
Great movie 🎥
DIANA DORS WOOOOOw
This is a trademark
Lionel Jeffreis film -
he focused on
bucolic pleasantries.
Diana Dors is just brilliant, hard to recognise in this film, not her usual kind of role
❤❤❤❤❤
Art
As much as I love this film the end was spoilt by all the cast being together and waving. It broke the magic of make-believe.
Is that Gyles Brandreth in the film?
Definitely not.
There's a "Modern" version with Simon Callow. It's Woke nonsense, best avoided at all costs.
