@@ConstableHandsy Oh! Pearls before the proverbial. I loved the book; obviously it was of its time, with social strata strictly adhered to, and clearly sexist. The tv series was rife with sexual tension, which I only really noticed when watching again recently. It revisits some of the themes in Susan Cooper's series of books, The Dark Is Rising. I really respect the way the children were not patronised, especially in the use of complex vocabulary.
Thank you for posting this - it really reminded me of my young teenage, and the earnest way I used to write my school compositons and essays, much to my family's amusement.

No one is going to believe this, but just yesterday I was thinking about some British show I saw as a kid that had a scene that stuck in my head. A son was telling his father about how weird it was that the kids in the town were able to work with advanced mathematics. Don't ask how that stuck in the noodle. Anyway, this pops up today and lo and behold. I always thought it was the Tomorrow People all this time but never found the episode. 37:10.

First time ever seeing this film.
I found it very creepy but it also makes me feel nostalgic because I recognise this music type & the ambience created for this film
I remember back in the 70's people where into mysticism occult things & how they went about their lives, there are many nuances in this film that bring back some memories where I was curious of all that until I learned some hard lessons about the forces of darkness & have been aware of it since.
I was a kid at the time & forgot what evil looked like until I saw this film.
If people aren't careful & protect themselves, they may find themselves surrounded by evil with no way out.
    Scary if you ask me.

Back in 76 when this was first shown it was fine for my generation, traumatising and creeping out kids was pretty standard because they were doing it to the adults as well, Threads was finally re-shown on BBC4 last week, its terrified another generation about the actual results of nuclear fall out !

The old actors had so little to work with, you had to be a good actor to keep people engaged. Modern actors have endless effects to distract people and they end up not being very good actors. We loae a lot in our quest for advancement. The wise man would be able to make the best of both, but I see no sign of that. The old actors trained in Shakespear, and you cannot get more demanding than Shakespear, consequently by the time they ended up doing this sort of work for the BBC or others, they really knew about real acting. I miss the quality of these type of actors. Even the carry on films had better acting than most of the modern actors.
