      What kind of steak do you usually can? Not chuck, I hope. I've gone off that stuff. I did just can 7 pints of a Boston butt roast last week in my foodi. Put a ribeye in that with the air crisper, and you get restaurant quality broiling while making the salad. No mess, not hot kitchen, no problem. Perfect for a romantic dinner for 2.

    Well, I broke down and bought an Instant Pot because of this video. And OMG it has been a game changer for me! All those little batches of left overs, are now canned, and on the shelf, instead of sitting in the fridge till they’re no longer edible, and end up going to the chickens. Thank you for doing this video!
    I’m guessing it’s good for other stuff besides canning, but….priorities.

      Omg, am with your both all the way. Have both the 8 quart IP and the new 6 quart IP Max for pressure canning. Absolutely love them both, completely understand using it for pressure canning but it’s so amazing and simple for so many things. Spaghetti sauce, soups, stews, yoghurt, one pot cooking and more. Well worth the investment to me, that’s for sure. Lol, now I need for jars and lids for canning and freezer is full…Momma is happy 😀

      @@ThunderFaith Patty, I'm with you. Until university extension service research lab testing confirms these are safe for PRESSURE canning, I'll keep using my Presto, too. Any pot of suitable size can be used for waterbath canning. That's not an issue. On the other hand, tested guidelines for pressure canning have a lot of factors under consideration. Ranging from the number of jars being used to heat up & cool down times. An untrained person in pressure canning laboratory procedures is not in the position to evaluate the safety of anything that varies from accepted protocol.

    • @ThunderFaith
      @ThunderFaith 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Probably 2021 yes, I know that, I watch Pam and Jim and have great respect for them. However, proper testing is done using multiple units from different production runs to ensure consistency in manufacturing. Not to mention the extended testing done over time to ensure the units continue to be safe after many uses.
      You do what you want, I'm not here to change anyone's mind.
      Me personally, I've had too many duds actual tested electronics, no way I'm trusting my family's health to a product that I've only seen one unit, tested by one person, one time.

    This has been so nice to have this garden season. I can 4 to 8 pints every night. I harvest everyday and I can SOMETHING every single day. If I don't have a harvest coming in... I buy extra at the store of whatever is on sale or in season. Even if I'm just putting up some hot dogs or beanie weenies or juice. Apartment or not.. if you're goal is to max out your pantry space with long term food at the ready.. this is a wonderful tool. It's like subscribe and save only it's "preserve and save." I have the exact same model and I do like it. I bought it just for canning also. NOTE: just a heads up, I think mine has a cool spot because when I do 4 jars I often get one that isn't bubbling and doesn't seal right. So now I just do 3 jars at a time and they always turn out perfect. I have also noticed that the wide mouth jars don't syphon as much as the sm mouth ones do. Don't know why, but I'm sticking with that because it seems to work for me. Have fun!!

    I am so happy they came out with a safe electric pressure CANNER. That was the problem with had with the power XL as it did not show pressure or temp, so you could not tell if it went below the 240 mark. I used mine for so many canning things until the national center said that it was not safe. So my dog ate all of the pot roast I canned. Now with this one and I see several others that is awesome. I used it when I only had a few jars of meat to can. It was great as it was set and forget it. Go watch a TV show etc. My others I have to watch them the entire time to make sure the pressure and temp is good. Thanks for sharing.

    If you look at the reviews and questions and answers for this Instant Pot, they all say that these are NOT usda approved to do canning in. Just a heads up as we all want to do what is best for our families and the foods we cook.
    EDIT:
    I ordered one of these after reading more reviews on Amazon.
    I am IMPRESSED Rudy. It is everything you said it would be and maybe more.
    I received mine today, and after doing the initial trial run, I cooked a Pork Butt Roast and it was amazing, and they are usually a bit tough. Then after I cooked that I decided to try out the canning part and I had three pints of Broth and I canned them. They all sealed like they should and I think the one thing that I am so impressed with about this is...it is so quiet. No jiggling of the pressure piece, no heavy pot to remove from the stove after it has finished and the best is the fact that I can do small batches in it and not feel like I am exhausted.
    Thanks for the great review on this Instant Pot Rudy, you are the reason I bought one, you made it look so easy to do in this Instant Pot.

List on Amazon was $149 - certainly could not justify that price if what I have sufficed, Unbelievably, available for purchase was one cooker with cosmetic blemishes (scratches on lid and side) at $49. I looked up the pressure and it was 11.6 PSI so thank was all I needed since I never need more than 10 psi. They had it in European numbers so I had to convert it to USA #’s and then I used the standard pressure canning times and it has been wonderful. The best part is that after you turn off “keep warm” you dont have to babysit it like my big one I can use for quarts that goes on the stove. Just got a C6L message today so my 6 QT just died, sad but they told me what they needed and are planning on replacing it.
