Silent Hiking - Dolly Sods in Autumn - West Virginia | Bear Rocks Preserve | Dolly Sods Wilderness

The Dolly Sods Wilderness is located in the Allegheny Mountains in West Virginia. A small section of the the area is managed by the Nature Conservancy and is called Bear Rocks Preserve.
This unique ecosystems is what one would see much farther north in Canada. The area is known for its wind-swept trees and heath barrens.
The Bear Rocks Preserve consists of 477 acres and has no official trail that guides you through this scenic landscape.

@@MarksofCuriosity Have to watch the weather, you can have 50 degrees in the valley and a full blizzard on the mountaintops. Makes it fun though.

Isn't that a cool place. We visited in May of 2022 but we were socked into the clouds. I could barely see the next set of rocks. No views at all, I had to hike with my glasses off because they were getting covered in mist and I loved the hike.
