      The market moves with overall economic trends, which is expected. At this time, with the C6Z, any increase in median market value really can be attributed to the car reaching max depreciation and the value increasing slightly is due to overall economic inflation. That could be compared with something like the 911SC, which a few years back sold for $15k and now sell for $50k. Obvious during that time period the economy didn't triple, so when you take out the economic growth, there is ACTUAL appreciation in the value of the car.
      I only bring this up to point out that you can rest assured that the Corvette C6Z, like essentially every corvette, from new will go through period of depreciation (passed), then reach max depreciation where the value will only increase/decrease as a result of economy health. You won't have to worry about it shooting through the roof like NSX, Supra, air-cooled 911's, or essentially any desirable sports-car that had lower production numbers. The Corvette never had low production numbers, there are so many of them available, there will never be meaningful appreciation.
      Buy, drive, throw away. Enjoy and repeat. That's what Corvettes are for. They aren't for investing in.

      TheSmokingTire markets been declining steadily in my opinion... there is a huge range in price between 06/07 then 08/09 then 11-13. About the only corvette 20 years and newer that has stopped losing value and even increased a little is the C5 ZO6

    A lot of people think that the great thing about the LS7 is that it packs 427ci/7.0L displacement into a small block. And while that's a big part of it (no pun intended), it also comes down to race-derived heads that can move an incredible amount of air, and titanium connecting rods which allow for a 7000 RPM redline--which is bonkers for that much displacement. Even though the LT4 makes more power with its blower, and way more torque, I still prefer the mechanical ballet of the LS7.

    I got a ride along in Z06 at an HPDE a few years back. The only changes from stock were slicks, racing buckets, and 5 pt seatbelts. It was so fast it was uncomfortable and borderline painful in the corners and on the brakes. Tremendous performance for the dollar.

      @@aaronhauber3119 yea, but when you live here, and experience the amount of population density which results in the highways being as clogged as they are, it really is not surprising that auto pollution is such a big concern here. Yea, we all know that cruise ships cause more pollution, and manufacturing in India does to, but there is very real effect for coastal cities here trapping pollution in the air (smog) from cars on the road. YI love uncorked V8 exhaust, but I also like being able to breath ... the air here has only gotten better over the past few decades as policies were put in place to make cars pollute less. These days it's possible to make 700+hp cars and still have proper emissions equipment, so I don't really see any problem with it from a performance perspective.

    Recently picked up an 08' Z06 in velocity yellow and it has been amazing so far. I've had three C6's in the past either LS2 or LS3 and no doubt the LS7 is the way to go. So much more power and the engine revs much freer as well. Also agree with Zack on the widebody C6's, they have aged really well and get a ton of looks too.

No, rod bearings, IMS, RMS, bore scoring, throttle actuators, rear sub frame or any other of these crazy issues to deal with. Sure, the German cars I’ve had have been awesome to drive, but these Corvettes ask you for nothing.

    There is no question in my mind that the C6 is the cleanest design of the Corvette ever made. While I like the improvements to the interior of the C7, I agree that the overall design to the exterior is too busy. I also think the C4 is another example of a clean design with not too much going on to make it busy looking.

      I agree with both of you and that's where I put my 48k recently (2013 60th Anni), instead of any of the C7 models. I had considered a C7 Z06 vert (but in the low 60's a little over budget) but not really any other C7 - I do love the interior of the C7 but the exterior of a C6 Z06 looks as good as maybe any Vette every made.

    • @RB_CO
      @RB_CO 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also drive a 2015 GT PP and yes I would say that a C6 Z06 would be a major upgrade. One thing to remember about the Mustang is that no matter how much money you throw at upgrades, it's still based on an affordable, entry level performance car that shares a lot of parts with other vehicles in the Ford family. The C6 Z06 on the other hand is, for the most part bespoke within the GM family. It has a specifically designed aluminum chassis, performance suspension and brakes, carbon fiber or composite body panels, composite floorboards, etc. These cars new were $60-80K depending on options when new. That's a far cry from $35K of a Mustang GT. The only thing I would say that a C6 Z06 lacks is that the interior feels cheap. Aside from the known horrible seats and steering wheel, the Vette's interior is full of plastic and cheaply imitated materials. Not what you would expect from a flagship vehicle. Otherwise it truly is the best performance car for the money on the market today.
      So the question really should be: Are you ready to trade in the "crowd killer" stereotype for the "baby boomer with deck shoes and no socks" stereotype?

      I went from a Porsche to a C5. The Porsche was great in its own way (mainly handling was far more communicative and easier to place. It didn’t necessarily go faster around bends just felt better and you knew where to limit was. Throttle response better) but I loved the Corvette so much more. The low end torque is addicting. Something else to take in to account is reliability and cost of maintenance. My Porsche cost me ~$1800 for a scheduled service. If you run in to mechanical problems prepare to drop several thousand minimum. The Corvette is unique among sports cars in that it is very reliable and incredibly cheap to fix if there is an issue.

I drove it as a daily drive, putting snow tires on it during the winter. 20k miles per year I drove it, and at that amount, the interior just wore on me. After a couple years I moved into the C7 Stingray, which fixed my issue with the interior. The nice thing is because the C7 has 10% less horsepower, and about 7% more mass, the acceleration isn’t nearly as much fun as it was in my old C6Z, so I find myself driving in a more responsible manner, because I don’t like being disappointed with the acceleration. ;)
