I actually fractured one of my ribs recently on my CCE after playing around 18 holes a day + a ton of practice. Found out about the Sig Pro Softy and just got it cut into my CCE mat. Really looking forward to using it, and hoping I can stay injury free! It’s actually insane how rock hard my CCE feels in comparison to it. No wonder so many people get injured on them! Anyways, awesome vid! Hope I like it as much as you do!
I'd cut some lexan to replace the plywood you have underneath. Put the same rubber foam backing underneath the lexan just like you showed on your custom made divot strip. So the Sig Pro Softy on top, set that directly on to the custom lexan / foam insert underneath instead of the plywood. Rubber/foam under the lexan is touching the floor. Lexan is touching the cabinet tabs. Seems like the best of all worlds and super forgiving on the joints!
Awesome review. I can confirm the SIGPRO Softy is amazing and all my wrist pain went away after switching to it. Love the ball return setup. Do you have any videos on that setup?
Really like the thought process behind the Sig Pro Softy. I built a DIY sorta divot action mat and it works well, especially with putting. That definitely is a plus as compared to the Fiberbuilt flight deck. The ONLY think keeping me away from the Sig Pro Softy is the height of it. With my 3/4 inch puzzle mat and golf carpeting, it doesn't come anywhere near the height of this product.
Totally understand that if you want it all to be one level. The height of the mat is the key to protecting the golfer for sure with it's design. I normally advise people they can buy 1" exercise foam panel and glue or carpet them on top of each other to make that 2" total. That with the height of a turf on top should come out pretty darn close to 2 3/8 inches. Here is a link to the ones I recommend in 1" and they are relatively firm as well: amzn.to/3Of6sBt
Thanks so much for the recommendation! Just ordered the insert and updated my hitting platform. Two pieces of particle board from home depot, some used range mats for a legit hitting platform for $300 at 46.5"x93".
That is a perfect plan! Can't wait to see if when you got it up and going. Shoot me a pic if you can to Roland@MyGarageGolf.com when its done. I think you will love the mat!
Thank you Roland, I’ve tried Monster mat and it injured me bad. Wrist, elbow shoulder and neck. I tried making my own mat which was the same as you but it still didn’t help the injury. After your review I was convinced especially because of your past injuries and that you have used it for 6 months with not much wear. Thank you for reviewing the Sig Pro Softy.
Thanks for the review. I'm planning to build my own platform using the exercise mats you recommend. Any recommendation on what turf to put over the mats and what adhesive to use between the mats and under the turf?
Many other clients have used a plywood base with exercise foam panels on top. The total height of the insert is 2 3/8 inches so you would want a platform that is about 2 inches tall and then add turf on top that is 3/8 inches tall. Here is an example of turf I've used with clients before: mygaragegolf.com/collections/accessories/products/money-putt-golf-turf?variant=43713704263724 You can use double sided carpet tape to put the turf on top of the subfloor. Let me know if you have any questions on this or email me at roland@mygaragegolf.com. I'm here and happy to help however I can! Roland
Great review Roland - was searching for something a bit more realistic than my CCE mat and was ready to go the DIY route. Just ordered hitting strip thru your link - hopefully same results you are seeing. On another note - I don’t do crocs (but honestly never tried on a pair) but I’ve been wearing bowling shoes and found they are a bit easier on that left knee. Thanks again and keep up the good work
Thanks so much Bill. I really appreciate it! Let me know what you think when you get it and if you have any questions reach out at roland@mygaragegolf.com anytime. Love the bowling shoes idea. I too have had multiple knee surgeries so I totally get it!
Nice setup. I think you over thought the bracket system supporting the wood insert. All you really need to do is cut four equal pieces off of the end of a 2x4 of even 2x2 and put them in the corners under the wood insert. You could get the exact height you need too.
Always enjoy and learn from your reviews. Regards the footwear: I found there is a difference between my tennis shoes and golf shoes, I'm thinking it's because the golf shoes add the proper amount of support for a faster swing speed. Of course there could be a different reason, but for me I get about a 10 percent increase in my swing speed when wearing my golf shoes. Validated this data on the range as well as with a mat on the back porch setup. As a side note I just upgraded from my SkyTrak (5 years) to a new Foresight GC3 what a difference, actually able to measure my swing speed.
Do you have the insert already or do you need a full golf mat. I am not aware of any stance mats separate from also having an area to hit off of and since I don't know what your space looks like I thought I'd ask. If you want to email me a picture you can also send to me anytime at roland@mygaragegolf.com and I'm happy to help from there as well. Thanks for watching!
Do you still like this best? I keep wanting to buy this but knowing the launch monitor has a two foot wide hitting box I keep being drawn to the wider hitting strip on the fiberbuilt player preferred series. Primary goal is joint protection though above all else, wish they would make this in a two foot wide strip.
Still my favorite hands down. Nothing beats it in my book and I've tested a whole lot out there. I am about to test the Fiberbuilt Player Preferred series as well. I do agree I wish they made the strip wider for those with launch monitors that can accommodate. Which launch monitor are you using?
@@mjmurphy53711608 Appreciate it. If you don't see a review out feel free to email me at roland@mygaragegolf.com because even if I'd had the chance to test it I'll be able to give you my thoughts on it for sure.
The insert is 2 3/8 inches thick. I've advised others to buy 1" exercise foam panels to put under an existing golf mat, etc. You just want the total to come out to close to 2 3/8 inches including any turf that may be on top. Here is an example of the exercise foam panels I've advised before: amzn.to/3Of6sBt
@@GarageGolf Great thanks for the reply. Do have any cheaper mats you recommend to use for the Softi insert? Nervous to cut an insert into one and have it start falling apart haha. Thanks!
@@isaaclang3764 Not the cheapest but you need something decent: 5stargolfmats.com/5-star-gorilla-commercial-golf-mats-4x5/ This one is 1 3/4 inches thick. Add a 1/2 inch exercise mat underneath and that should get you pretty darn close I would think.
I got this one from the company that sold me the auto tee up. It is almost identical however to my other one I have that I purchased through Par2Pro 5 years ago. It is their padded turf series. Stimp is around 11 I believe.
Pretty funny - this video came out 1 day after I ordered the Monster Mat …based on recommendation by this channel. No worries, looking forward to the MM, which shipped the same day as ordered!
No worries. I am confident you should still love that mat. It is in my top 5 mats still. Just in case ask them if they have a return policy in the event you test it and do not like it for some reason. Thanks for watching!!
My MM is going back! The green that’s comes off on the club gets eeeeeverywhere and is an absolute mess. And it seems to Never stop, no matter how many hundreds and hundreds of shots I hit in the exact same spot. I pride myself on the looks of my setup as well, and having little green bits of mess All Over the place after a couple hitting a sessions is unacceptable

@@GarageGolf I received my mat today and I must say, it feels great! It is amazing how much cushioning it provides. I do have to do more testing with the GC Quad to see how the yardages look. The only criticism is that the stance mat is a little soft but not badly.
@@Dagoof2k7 Any additional comments a few weeks later? The softness of the stance mat worries me a bit. Especially since their return policy is a 15% restocking fee if I end up not liking how it feels.

Just ordered a 4x7 from your link. I get headaches from hitting off mats that don't absorb impact, so I'm excited to try this one out. Thanks for the review!
I am happy to hear you ordered one. Thanks for watching also! I’m here anytime if you have any questions. I stand behind this mat and insert 100%. It is my favorite I’ve ever tested for sure.
I would call it a 3 piece design. Turf, then a rubber type base and at the bottom a soft foam layer that allows you to hit down and through the golf ball where it releases air through the compression slots on the bottom. You can find it here on our website now and there is a good side picture of it cut open from the side: mygaragegolf.com/collections/golf-mats-and-hitting-strips/products/sigpro-softy-hitting-strip
It is! I was not about to spend hundreds on a staff bag. I found a trash can and got PVC pipes that I cut and then screwed into a wood frame that I put inside the trash can to hold as many PVC pipes as possible. I then spray painted everything black. Holds about 50 clubs or so. No lid for the trash can but it is very heavy and does have wheels.
Hi, I'm beginner with no garage, but do have net and foam balls. About to order the insert thru your link. But could you recommend a good way to set up strip outdoors? Can I just hit off the strip that is simply placed on top of like a costco/hardware turf? It won't be level like yours, but can still got off it. will it negatively impact my swing practice? Thank you
The best thing to do would be to drop the insert inside of an existing Golf mat. You would just line up the insert on top of the other Mat were you would want to hit from and cut out the spot so the insert will drop in to the slot of the other Mat. If you need to build up the other mat to make it the same height as the insert, then I normally recommend exercise foam panels that puzzle piece together to build up the height. Most golf mats are about 1 1/2 inches tall, so if you buy 1 inch exercise foam panels, you could raise the height underneath the mat to accommodate for the insert. Reach out to me at roland@mygaragegolf.com with any questions. I’m happy to help.
The hitting insert looks great but 2 3/8” deep means it fits with nothing else which is crazy. I build my own and while they may not be as good as the sig pro I can’t justify lifting my entire mat area which is already pretty close in terms of height
I understand the concern about height. It won't work for everyone but really nothing compares to it in my opinion. The first thing I'm concerned with is staying protected as a golfer. Since I've been injured before on another mat I won't ever change this one until I come across something I feel is better.
Thanks for the review. Wow, $199. The technology seems to make sense as far as forgivness to the body but how does this forgivness compare to the EZ Tee hybrid for only $65? I'm only using for practice with foam balls into a net. No room for a sim or long clubs. So no long rounds or practive range sessions or tee's but may look into the Dewiz for feedback.
$199.00 almost guarantees you that you wont need to buy another insert again. I've been using my setup for over 14 months since I received it and it is still as good today as the day I installed it. I have not tested the EZ Tee hybrid but could put money on the Sig Pro Softy versus anything else out there dollar for dollar in my humble opinion.
Do you have any experience with the Fiberbuilt player preferred layer? It seems to take away the issue with the fiberbuilt being too fluffy, and provides good feedback
I haven't had a chance to hit off of it but I have seen it in person and it looks like great quality. Unfortunately have not been able to test in person though.
Love the review. I’m thinking about this mat for my new developing garage setup. I do love the light weight as I’d be moving the mat around when not in use. But I’m then worried it’ll slide around on the concrete. Should I get one with a base instead like the fiberbuilt? Trying to balance ease of movement vs having it stay in place. Thanks!
I would put the Sig Pro miles ahead of the Fiberbuilt in my honest opinion. It is a relatively heavy mat at 28 lbs but if it does slide I use double sided carpet tape or on concrete consider using dual lock velcro and I think you will be golden with it!
I'm sure you will love it. I would rank it in my Top 5 golf mats overall. It works for many people but for me especially with some arthritis in my elbows and joints I needed something slightly more forgiving. Thanks for watching!
Wait until it’s a green mess that Never Ends! The green that rubs off on the clubs gets Eeeeeverywhere, and unfortunately it never ends! I’ll be returning mine soon unfortunately
Chris I do agree there is alot of it that comes off but one advantage of that is I can periodically check the bottom of my club and it actually gives me my swing path direction. It leaves me a direction grain on the club face that easily wipes off. I swing out doors so it's no big deal but I can see if this was in doors it would be irritating.
@@chadhelvey7827 Ya I’ve seen that too seeing how the grain shows up on the club. But ya mine is indoors in a nice clean area that I spent time and money on and that stuff just gets eeeeeverywhere after a few days and I’m vacuuming and cleaning more then hitting. I hoped after a long while it would stop rubbing off but it doesn’t, probably just in my head but it just gets worse the more I hit it. Wish it wasn’t like this cause it’s a great mat for the price, but I think since I can return it and get my 400 back I’m gonna exercise that policy and just bite the bullet and drop the extra 400 on this. I’m sure my joints will thank me too.
@@chrisimes478 well since ordering the mat I have since developed tendonitis 😔, so I'm forced to take about a month off from swinging. Not sure if it was the mats fault or over use. Either way I'm out of commission. I'm starting to think I might return the mat and go a different direction.
What is your opinion on the feel of the Sig Pro vs CCE. I was seriously considering making a cut out and dropping sig pro in. CCE has been wreaking havoc on my elbow recently. PS I rock the Crocs or just socks 🧦🧦
Love it Jason! Rock the Crocs! I love the Sig Pro personally. I would consider cutting it into the CCE, you'll just need something to raise the height of the CCE about .75 inches or so. Foam exercise mats work great for that. Let me know if you have any questions!
If there is a major difference (More than 1 inch) I would suggest possibly setting your existing mat on a 3/4 inch piece of plywood and glueing it down and cutting out the insert for the Sig Pro softy. If it is still off then consider using something thin like a roll out yoga mat or the liner for drawers or toolboxes or even exercise mats you can puzzle piece together to layer underneath the Sig pro to find the right height from there.
The way I see it the home sim guys have to give up something somewhere. I have tried multiple mats and can say without a doubt the only mat that won’t cause injury is fiberbuilt. The knock is that it creates a lilttle more spin but you can still tell if you hit it fat it will increase spin leading to less distance. Your joint won’t get punished though. Divot action just was bad all around, true strike or a gel insert will eventually hurt your wrist if your a digger, other knock on true strike is the hitting base and putting as Roland pointed out. I’ve had monster mat, it will cause joint pain and leave junk everywhere. Haven’t tried sig pro softy but it’s very similar to the holy grail by hung ho golf. They all promised less grabbing but they will all either grab or provide to little vision for impact. It’s all a trade off, but if or should I say when pain starts just go with fiberbuilt. I haven’t been hurt in two plus years since switching and play all the time.
I know everyone is going to have their own opinion but if you look at my new set up in my simulator, the area where the hitting insert is was originally designed for two 12 x 12 fiber built panels to go in there. I happen to have those because I own a fiber built golf mat as well. From my experience, there is a night and day difference between the fiber built golf mat and the sig pro softy. The Sig pro softy is superior in every way that I have tested in regards, to forgiveability, and especially with feel and mimicking more of a true golf shot than the teed up feeling that you get with a fiber built panel. The one plus I would give to fiber built, for sure, would be durability but again I’ve been using this mat for almost a year now without any issues at all.
@@PowersFamily2011 Only my pride...lol. Let me explain. The problem that I had with the Fiberbuilt is that each shot was basically tee'd up so it was way too forgiving. When I got out on the real golf course I found myself often topping the golf ball on many shots, especially when I was in deadpan grass or areas without a lot of fluff underneath the golf ball. Once I switched I felt a major difference in my swing as I was no longer picking at the golf ball and instead hitting down and through.
@@PowersFamily2011 Up until about a year ago I would have told you the Truestrike was the best mat I've ever tested. That was until I tried the Sig Pro Softy. It is night and day difference and I have been very very happy with it. More durable and forgiving that the Truestrike in my book. Let me know if you consider it and I'll send you my link for it should you decide to buy it in the future. I'm here anytime if you have any questions as well. Thanks again!
Not meant to stay outdoors permanently but they do puzzle piece together so easy to take apart and move when not in use if you wanted to do so. - Roland
@@captainirv3542 I don't have a review on one but I've tested the Fiberbuilt mats and they work great outdoors. Fiberbuilt player preferred is also a good option.
I like using a mats predrilled hole for driver with the rubber insert tees, how can I use that with this mat and its an insert? Seems you only hit from this one insert section for both irons and woods, so is it you can only use a real tee or little bird cage on this mat section for driver?
There is no preset hole for this feature but you could easily drill a hole for it if you wanted and put a rubber tee through the mat for that purpose. I actually cut mine for length so it can be manipulated if needed. You could also use Birtees if you want or a real tee of course anytime with this mat/insert setup.
Understand the frustration there for sure. Where are you located? In regards to durability it is much more durable that the Truestrike gel portion insert. 10 months of use now and notice no signs of wear.
If you are going with the 4x7 and just turning it around or something like that you still should not have a problem that I'm aware of. They do sell a 4x10 if you have the space requirements. If just buying the insert I don't think there would be an issue either but have not tested it that way.
Thanks for the quick reply. Yes I was thinking of just the insert. But was concerned it may not have been designed hitting across the fibres. Perhaps they can answer that.
@@GarageGolf Key point in his question is the slightly offset part, I see why he is asking about turning it parallel to accomode slightly offset rh/lh and LM's with two foot wide hitting boxes.
Totally understand. I wish they did make it in a 2 foot wide strip also. I don't think it would perform the same exact way if placed parallel to the screen and it wouldn't give much room for error.
Hey mate. Love your channel. I’m only 1 month in with my Skytrak setup and I’ve learnt heaps from you. I took your advice and bought a high quality and very expensive mat but I think it may be a knock off based on info from your Chanel. Can I get some advice in private some how? I don’t want to out the supplier in public without being 100% certain.
Thanks for the vid.. Question - saw your review on the Monster Mat. In comparison to this one and the True Strike what were some of the issues with the Monster Mat? Thanks!
Mainly in general without the compression slot similar to the Sig Pro Softy, there is no room for a true down and through swing. You will find that most if not all pile mats (CCE, SwingTurf, 5 Star Golf Mats, Monster Mat) are very similar in design. Some are better quality than others (Swingturf, Monster Mat...in that order in my opinion) but still do not provide you with the same level of protection as something like the Sig Pro Softy. That and the durability is unmatched between the two in my opinion. I promise you that you will not be disappointed in this golf mat.
@@GarageGolf I have a Monster Mat and cannot disagree with what GG said here - although I have used the heck out of mine and it is still going strong. However, there are other mats like Country Club Elite that are very similar in construction to the Sig Pro. It really depends on what you want the mat to do. Even on the Monster Mat I know when I hit a fat or thin shot. On better mats like the Pro Sig you might be able to determine the degree of how fat you hit it I will give you that, but that comes at a hefty price. I am 66 years old and have no pain or joint issues hitting using the Monster Mat (and I have arthritis) and I hit probably 150+ shot every day and I mean every day. Not digging on GG - I respect what he does and his reviews....for the most part - just giving you another perspective from someone who uses two other mats and have for a long time.
How does the softy do with flop shots? It’s really difficult to get under the ball with the one I’m currently using and I was thinking about getting the SigPro Softy hoping it’d be better for flop shots.
Hi Davis. It works great for flop shots. I've even hit open face 66 degree lob shots in here and it interacts great to be honest. I've not had any issues with this mat at all from my testing. Much better in my opinion. I actually have a Fiberbuilt Mat sitting behind my screen that I have not used in quite some time since I found better golf mats. Hey Roland, I am looking at the 4x10. My concern is the stance area is to spongy. In some of the reviews I have seen that said. Have you heard if this is true or been able to test out more than the insert ? I currently use a CCE mat. Being a divot taker it is starting to wear on me. I need something else.
I have a buddy who has the same mat but I did not feel to be too spongy. I took a bit to get used to it but overall I was very happy with it. I love how its built in and you don't have to worry about height and matching up, etc. I think the tradeoff is well worth it and while it may be softer than some, nothing too crazy where it will affect anything in my humble opinion. @@GarageGolf , So with that said which stance mat/ hitting mat would you personally recommend to be used with SkyTrak by a steep swing/ divot taking golfer ?
@@GarageGolf After a couple of months of using it this past winter I was not sold on it. Way to spongy for a heavy person to use. I would not recommend it to anyone weighing in at 250 or more. If I could somehow incorporate this hitting mat into my CCE stance mat. I might be onto something.
It is somewhat softer than some others out there but you're the first I've heard this from that they dislike it overall to be honest. I weight well over 250 and haven't had the same feelings but I think each person is obviously unique as well as entitled to their own opinion of course. Not saying the Sig Pro is not a good mat, but it seems like every year there is a new mat manufacturer who has the new "best mat" there is....and it's always a lot more expensive than last year's "best mat" ever. I have a 5x5 Monster Mat (recommended last year) which works pretty well. I also have a Country Club Elite pad that is about 20x30 which, in my opinion, is about the best you can get. There is definitely a difference between the two, but neither one causes me any pain really and they are both quality products. I agree 100% that you should invest in a quality mat if you are hitting off them a lot. But there is really nothing that can simulate what it's like to hit off of real grass. That said...I just don't see how you (and I don't mean you personally) can justify spending $700 on a mat versus $500 for a very high quality mat. There is a pretty big difference between the high quality mats and the cheap ones. But once you get at the higher level there is little that separates them. No dig on you man I like your videos and respect what you do, but I seriously doubt there is anything about this mat that makes it worth roughly 25% more than others of similar high quality. Oh and I wear my golf shoes when I practice. I have an indoor pair just for this purpose.
Hi Alan, I totally understand where you are coming from and do not disagree with some of your points. However I would state that it is important to keep in mind there is a big difference between what I would call a true recommendation for a product such as this video versus a review or initial impressions of a product that I have done previously on the channel. Same goes with almost everything that I review. It is my duty as part of this channel to test as many items out there that I can and inform our viewers on products and items that may interest them (Something like the Monster Mat being included). As I try to with almost all my videos I try to offer an honest and fair review and I never bash a product even if there may be some flaws. I do however offer points about what I do like and what I see as room for improvement in those items as I feel that is the most fair approach. I still put the Monster Mat in my Top 5 golf mats for sure but there were some things I did not like if you watch the video. So far on this channel there was only one other mat that as of the time I tested I felt was the best I had ever tested and that was the True Strike Golf Mat. Still my number 2 mat to this day. As per this video however I don't honestly feel the True Strike or the Monster Mat is on the same level as the Sig Pro Softy Golf Mat which for the life of me other than the price of a full mat I did not find a flaw in while testing. That is pretty rare for almost any product I test. I even cut the product thus taking away some of its stability of the hard shell that surrounds it and still it works flawlessly to this day. This is why I wanted to wait a full 6 months before I did a complete and thorough review vs something that I test and offer initial impressions on. For me the extra $200.00 would be more than worth it to protect my joints and elbows from pain as I am suffering from arthritis and have a history of crippling rheumatoid arthritis in my family. That also being said you could easily just buy the insert as well and drop it into an existing golf mat setup similar to what I have done in my space and actually save $300.00 over a full mat like the Monster Mat. That is an option that you do not have with the Monster Mat to be honest and another negative for that mat in my book. The fact that there are three ordering options versus just one is another huge plus for me. Just my two cents and just one person's opinion obviously but thought I'd share with you how I approach these things on the channel. Thanks for watching and appreciate the comments as always!
@@GarageGolf Fair enough sir and respect for taking the time on a lengthy reply to try and explain your position. I don’t agree with you and how you approached this review, but it’s your channel and you can say whatever you want even though IMO it is misleading and a bit disingenuous.

Hi Harley, this is my go to mat moving forward. shopindoorgolf.com/products/sigpro-4-x-7-golf-mat?aff=160 Closest thing I have found to real grass feel and feedback in regards to not only feel but also numbers. You can check any of my golf club tests in the past 6 months on the channel and see the mat in use. I guarantee that this mat will not disappoint. It is my top mat moving forward that I will be recommending. As stated in the video I've been testing it over 6 months now and am more than happy with it. Hope this helps!!

In all fairness they had just come out with the mat at the time of this video and we do live in a copycat world out there with people copying even trademarked designs and passing them off as their own. Now, 2 years later they even have photos of the bottom of the device on their own website. It has easily turned into the best golf hitting strip on the market today in my honest opinion and durability has passed the test as well over 2 years later and mine still looks brand new.

I guarantee you that it is the best out there in my opinion. Especially from someone who has been injured on other mats before. I would pay twice that amount easily just to avoid injury.
@@GarageGolf Appreciate the reply because I kicked that take about it being ripoff and it was because I assumed it was just a better turf material. So your point is well taken as the thing seems pretty impressive and well thought out. Thanks I’ll be watching your videos.
@@GarageGolf And the mat I have has turned out to be a disaster on the Launch Monitor/Simulator as well as the battery on my upper body which I’m looking for a new one.
If you are building a simulator/practice area, that you intend to USE A LOT, please, DO NOT SKIMP-OUT on the MAT!!! My lead shoulder has been KILLING ME for a MONTH NOW. And, I only used my simulator for a SINGLE WEEK BEFORE IT HAPPENED. In ONE WEEK (about 3,000 swings) I destroyed the mat, and now my shoulder CONSTANTLY ACHES.
I can appreciate your point of view but $199.00 for an insert that has lasted me almost 2 years now and still looks brand new? Couple that with hurting your elbow from a "cheap" mat that costs $600.00 and not being able to play golf for 6 months and then see how you feel about it...lol.
Mannn you’re trippin seriously. The fact that you talk about having been using your own diy one made with lexan (which I also have been using since my fiberbuilt is tough on the body) and you talked UP this one with some ‘secret’ center is complete bs. I respected your channel before and stood up for you but I’m confused….. You’ve had this for 6 months and you somehow can’t see that it’s EXACTLY THE SAME as the lexan one only they’ve added super thick turf on top… Man I took it out of the box, looked at it for 3 seconds, seen the lexan sheet with the grass on top and the same foam under which I made only this mat is super thick. I wasted $200 which I’m sure you’re getting a kickback from. Thank you
Lol. You sound like someone who hasn't even tried the mat. When you get a chance to test it then you can come at me however you want and I will gladly listen. Until you do you are just spitting out randomness to be honest. I give it straight, I don't B.S. and I never will. I'm here to offer honest advice and input but I'm also here to make a profit like anyone else. That's my right as someone who spends the time and energy to make and edit these videos until 4am that you so easily dissect and decipher without true facts. When you personally test out the mat for 9 months straight and then do your own video review I will be happy to watch it and critique it in the way you have critiqued mine today. Until then, either watch or don't, it's your right obviously. P.S. There is no lexan glass on this product, at least not in the way it is setup when I made my own DIY mat that was shown in the video. I'm not sure if yours is different or not as I did not make yours. If you don't like the mat and you just received it, I am sure they are willing to allow you to return it. Maybe make that call as well as I feel it will be beneficial if you don't like it. Several others however have written and emailed me thanking me for my review and have had nothing but great reviews on this product that they have actually used and tested.
Hahahaha I’m only joking!!!! Just wanted to get a reply before telling you that it’s the best mat ever. 😂👌 Nice not having the bang of lexan but also promotes you to hit down and through the ball because it definitely catches the club like a fat shot but even that doesn’t hurt
@@stephenmurphy4604 Glad you like it. I had no idea what you were talking about on your initial post. I was like what is wrong with this person... I get it if someone doesn't end up liking it, that is unique to each person but the lexan comment I was like does this person even know what they're talking about???
I think $199.00 for the hitting strip at least is pretty reasonable. What would you compare against it based upon what you’ve tested? Cheap golf mats = injuries. I’m willing to pay a premium for my safety.
Y’all are outta your mind paying $1000 dollars for a hitting mat. I get there’s some R&D that goes into but dayum. Then I look at a 12x28 in Mat for 200. There are hundreds of ways to make your own hitting mat, especially if your willing to pay 1k.
I mean it only costs $199.00 for the hitting strip and I’d put that strip against anything you could make for that price or less in all honesty. If you have something better you definitely need to be selling it and I need to test it.
I was about to purchase the Fiberbuilt and was considering the player preferred and the performance series. I hit a lot of balls and am concerned about joint pain. I thought both of those had good reputations for not be as impactful to your joints?
I have tested both and would put the Sig Pro Softy mat above all others in my book. I am an affiliate for both so honestly giving you my true input. If you do consider using or buying one let me know I can send you our link if needed for either product but want to make sure you get your questions answered first of course.
@@GarageGolf Thank you and yes, I'd like to talk with you if that is possible? My concerns are as follow: I am not sure I like the idea of a small hitting area. I was thinking of the 6x6 FB with the thought I could move around and well as rotate the mat 90 degrees once in awhile so it would last longer. It seems like the FB base was heavy. I have hit on them at my local PGA store and they are quite stable. Wondering if the Sig Pro moves around? I am not a golfer that takes big divots and so the FB I have been hitting on doesn't seem to cause me any pain. That said, if the Sig is even easier on the joints that is something that interests me. Do you have experience with the FB Player Preferred mat? It sounded like it offered more joint protection but was not like their grass series which I think one could go right under the ball with. I am interested in your thoughts and would like to learn more about what you think of the different mats. Thanks!
@@GarageGolf One other concern is the mat being grabby if you hit it a little fat. I understand hitting it fat on a real fairway will also be grabby but I'm not looking to necessarily mimic exactly a real fairway but more just something that allows the club to swing freely and like we know, maybe even if it is a little easier from a mat than real grass.
@@Noone-dy7sh I believe this is the best mat I have ever tested. Great for everyday shots and forgiving on the joints but allows you to know when you mishit the ball as well. You can swing easily and freely without risk of injury which I also really like. Let me know if you're interested and I'll send you my link for it but a huge difference and upgrade from Fiberbuilt player preferred/performance series in my book.
Lots of options there. I have padded putting turf which helps to deaden the golf ball once it lands from the screen. It is very rough though so no laying on it for family movies, etc. I previously in another home had bought green commercial carpet from Lowe's that had padding underneath and worked like a charm. If not that route try turffactorydirect.com/ I am not an affiliate for them but have heard others who have used them in the past.

That ball return and insert setup is next level!
Appreciate it. I do miss that setup!
Thanks a lot for the review. Also chiming in that a comparison with the EZ Tee Hybrid would be helpful!
Lol, forgot to say I love the Sig Pro Softy. It’s forgiving but still very true to fat shots with great feed back.
Thanks again
Couldn't agree more. Glad you enjoy it!
Awesome review. I can confirm the SIGPRO Softy is amazing and all my wrist pain went away after switching to it.
Love the ball return setup. Do you have any videos on that setup?
Sure do. Here you go: th-cam.com/video/Td5cmYDxg2c/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_F8sHVj_FOFXzeid
Thanks so much for watching!
Here is an example of turf I've used with clients before: mygaragegolf.com/collections/accessories/products/money-putt-golf-turf?variant=43713704263724
You can use double sided carpet tape to put the turf on top of the subfloor.
Great point. I might have to consider that for version 2.0! Thanks for watching!
Very good feedback! Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy your GC3!
Dude, love your video. You're the man. Wish I had your skills. Sick. Keep up the great work.

Do you have any suggestions for a small stance mat so I don’t wear out my turf?

Great review. Any recommendations for a set up if I just buy the strip? Maybe a cheaper mat and then cut in an insert? Thanks

@@isaaclang3764 Not the cheapest but you need something decent: 5stargolfmats.com/5-star-gorilla-commercial-golf-mats-4x5/
This one is 1 3/4 inches thick. Add a 1/2 inch exercise mat underneath and that should get you pretty darn close I would think.
Your turf matches the insert color perfectly. Where did you get your turf at?

Just ordered a 4x7 from your link. I get headaches from hitting off mats that don't absorb impact, so I'm excited to try this one out. Thanks for the review!

Hey, how is the mat working out? Notice a big difference ?
Was it just solid foam when you cut it or was there channels or pockets or anything?
I would call it a 3 piece design. Turf, then a rubber type base and at the bottom a soft foam layer that allows you to hit down and through the golf ball where it releases air through the compression slots on the bottom. You can find it here on our website now and there is a good side picture of it cut open from the side: mygaragegolf.com/collections/golf-mats-and-hitting-strips/products/sigpro-softy-hitting-strip
Is that a trash can holding clubs in the back left? What kind of lid is on top to keep the clubs organized?
@@GarageGolf love it! I’m going to try the same
Hi, I'm beginner with no garage, but do have net and foam balls.
Have you tried the big moss true launch mats?
I have not had the opportunity as of yet unfortunately. Hopefully in the near future.
Have you come across anything better?
Gotta try Carls Places hitting mat and Inserts
They have good quality stuff as well. Still place this insert at the top though.
Great video
Appreciate it! Let me know if you have any questions anytime! I'm here and happy to help.
I just received my 5x5 Monster Mat and absolutely love it. Great price, $398 delivered.
Was thinking about doing the same. I think the cce is 1 1/2 inches thick while this is about 2 3/8 inches thick. Might need to thicken the cce a bit
Love it Jason! Rock the Crocs! I love the Sig Pro personally. I would consider cutting it into the CCE, you'll just need something to raise the height of the CCE about .75 inches or so. Foam exercise mats work great for that. Let me know if you have any questions!

I have a country club elite mat and it’s 1 1/2 inch thick. Do you have any tips as to how I can use this insert, which is 2 3/8 inch thick? Thanks!
@@GarageGolf curious if you were injured by the fiberbuilt mat?
@@PowersFamily2011 Only my pride...lol. Let me explain. The problem that I had with the Fiberbuilt is that each shot was basically tee'd up so it was way too forgiving. When I got out on the real golf course I found myself often topping the golf ball on many shots, especially when I was in deadpan grass or areas without a lot of fluff underneath the golf ball. Once I switched I felt a major difference in my swing as I was no longer picking at the golf ball and instead hitting down and through.
@@GarageGolf I have a True Strike now, but the hitting area is getting wore out. Not sure if I need to just keep that one or so with the Sig Pro.
@@PowersFamily2011 Up until about a year ago I would have told you the Truestrike was the best mat I've ever tested. That was until I tried the Sig Pro Softy. Let me know if you consider it and I'll send you my link for it should you decide to buy it in the future. I'm here anytime if you have any questions as well. Thanks again!
Mat is awesome. Has it all.
It really is the best I've found out there and can vouch for the quality having tested it for almost 9 months now.
Would they be able to custom make one that is 1 3/8 thick instead of 2 2/8 thick?
Hi Yazen, no unfortunately they can only do custom size lengths but not width or thickness at this moment.
Good video, Thanks!
Are they good for an outdoor setting?
Not meant to stay outdoors permanently but they do puzzle piece together so easy to take apart and move when not in use if you wanted to do so. - Roland
@GarageGolf Thanks for your reply! By any chance, Have you reviewed outdoor mats?
@@captainirv3542 I don't have a review on one but I've tested the Fiberbuilt mats and they work great outdoors. Fiberbuilt player preferred is also a good option.

@@captainirv3542 Anytime my friend!
Great video! Can this mat be left outside 24/7 and exposed to the elements?
I would not think so with this type of mat. If you were to cover it with a waterproof tarp though when not in use I think it would be just fine.
Nice review. Thinking of getting this, but just the strip. So, how do you suggest that I build up the height of my stance mat to match this?
If there is a major difference (More than 1 inch) I would suggest possibly setting your existing mat on a 3/4 inch piece of plywood and glueing it down and cutting out the insert for the Sig Pro softy. If it is still off then consider using something thin like a roll out yoga mat or the liner for drawers or toolboxes or even exercise mats you can puzzle piece together to layer underneath the Sig pro to find the right height from there.
How do you think the durability compares to the truestrike? Shame that they don't ship outside of Canada..
Understand the frustration there for sure. Where are you located? In regards to durability it is much more durable that the Truestrike gel portion insert. 10 months of use now and notice no signs of wear.

What's the thickness difference between this and a fiberbuilt insert?
Currently have a fiberbuilt insert that I built around.
Fiberbuilt according to their website is 2 inches deep. This one is 2 and 3/8 inches deep.
Hi , I will be accommodating left and right golfer's likely off center. Will the Sig Softy perform the same if it is turned parallel with the screen?
If you are going with the 4x7 and just turning it around or something like that you still should not have a problem that I'm aware of. They do sell a 4x10 if you have the space requirements. If just buying the insert I don't think there would be an issue either but have not tested it that way.
Thanks for the quick reply. Yes I was thinking of just the insert. But was concerned it may not have been designed hitting across the fibres. Perhaps they can answer that.
@@karlg1540 They are slatted a certain way on the bottom but I doubt it would be a problem in all honesty.

I make a profit on plenty of items whether it be this mat or something else, I'm not hiding that. I even mention in the video that if you use our affiliate links you help out our channel.
Those prices are fn stupid
I'm happy to answer any questions on both if you would like to set up a call or chat. Let me know how I can help. If you do consider using or buying one let me know I can send you our link if needed for either product but want to make sure you get your questions answered first of course.
@@GarageGolf Thank you and yes, I'd like to talk with you if that is possible? My concerns are as follow:
I am not sure I like the idea of a small hitting area.
What kind of turf do you recommend to fill the room (the non hitting surface)
Lots of options there. I have padded putting turf which helps to deaden the golf ball once it lands from the screen. It is very rough though so no laying on it for family movies, etc. I previously in another home had bought green commercial carpet from Lowe's that had padding underneath and worked like a charm. If not that route try turffactorydirect.com/ I am not an affiliate for them but have heard others who have used them in the past.
Yes I injured myself as well with that mat. That's a lot of wear and tear on the body with a not so great quality mat over time. I always tell everyone I help that the Golf Mat is the biggest decision in a golf simulator build in my opinion. I think you'll love the insert for sure! Keep me posted with any questions.
what launch monitor are you using?
In this video I'm using the Uneekor EYEXO but have access to several others. If you have questions on anything please don't hesitate to let me know. I'm here to help!
