Excellent review - great job. I must have watched 15-25 reviews of Galaxy Nexus and none came close to this one in terms of professional look and feel with plenty of useful info. Congratulations on a job done exactly how a review should be done !
That was absolutely the most professional, most descriptive smart phone review I've seen. You my good sir, made me choose this over the razr. What was I thinking :P
I like how the verge has reviewed this in 8 minutes and given us a thorough run down of the hardware and software, with comparisons, pros and cons. Meanwhile engadget took 30 minutes to review it and I didn't get as much substance out of it. Rock on verge.
I read a pretty interesting article about this a while ago. You could probably google it. The reason the iPhone seems so smooth is because it has a dedicated rendering thread. All other processing stops to render the motion on the screen. In Android, it continues loading that list you're viewing as you scroll through it. Newer, more powerful phones alleviate the problem somewhat, but there's been talk of revamping to work like iOS with a dedicated visuals thread.
That's by far the best phone review I have encountered. Well-balanced, extremely informative, focused, overall professional in every respect. Also, props for Asimov and Herbert!
in your opinion or by fact of the specs..is this phone the best Samsung has? And do you recommend the Galaxy Nexus over the Iphone 4S, Rezound, and the Droid Razr?
Awesome review. But can someone please explain to me why every single G Nexus review I've watched or read says the panoramic feature is new? It's nowhere near new. My severely outdated Droid 2 has panoramic photo.
You are missing the key features: * It runs a more or less free (as in freedom) OS, (though it's not as free as it should). * It can be natively used with any carrier's SIM * Its unlocked bootloader allows you to install another system. And it lacks a micro SD slot :(
THANK-YOU. I was at a loss at what to get for a cell buuuut you cleared that up quick! This phone is coming to my service provider soon and I'm so excited! I'm hoping it's here by February when I get to use my upgrade, but I'm willing to wait. It seems worth it.
I've got a serious decision to make. Galaxy S3 will probably be released in July 2012. I actually don't know if it's worth waiting for or if I should buy the Galaxy Nexus instead. What do you think?
I recently bought a Galaxy Nexus, and i'm extremely satisfied with my purchase. I am a graphic designer here in Atlanta, and i use my Nexus for work on a daily basis. Android 4.1 coupled with AT&T's 4G LTE network legitimately make my life/job easier. Great job, Google!
Im so happy i got this phone. Its waiting for me under the tree. But i gotta say this review and this review only made me completely forget about the Razr. This is the absolute most professional smartphone review i've ever seen. It's out of the ordinary.
I was really excited about ics and was wondering wat all the hype was about but after i saw this review i really really really want ics on my epic touch. This is the best review i seen in a while.
@AJSDawg the phone in the middle is the new Galaxy Nexus. The other android phone is the nexus s, the galaxy's predecessor, and the one with the smallest screen is the iphone 4 or 4s
Good for us. I can't wait for the photo sphere camera app and the new drop down menu settings and also the new gesture typing. My phone never feels old.
I've had my Nexus for about two weeks now and coming from the HTC EVO, this thing is amazing. I use it a ton during the day and it gets through the day with plenty of battery to spare, unlike the EVO. I would have to keep my EVO plugged in at work if I wanted to have any chance of getting it through the whole day.
I currently have the iphone 5 and im a bit bored of it. not knocking it at all, it gets the job done no doubt. I just think its time for something new. My girl and best friend got this phone the other day and Im thinking about it. but would it be a diwngrade from the iphone 5? should I grab the galaxy s3? hold on to the iphone?
Hey guys I need help. Is it better to buy samsung galaxy s ii or galaxy nexus. Money is not problem but I don't know what is better? What do you think?
I got to play with one in a Verizon store. They had a demo one but werent aloud to sell. I want this phone now! It wasnt too big at all and im coming from a Droid Eris. The casing felt alright to me, didnt feel cheap. Camera is way better than my eris so its impressive. Only complaint is that the brightness sucks. Full brightness on the nexus was about only half brightness on my eris. So i hope having full brightness on this phone wont be too much of a battery drain.
Hows the battery life, I need to update my phone soon and would like to stick with android. However, one thing I've learned from having a smartphone is the short battery life. Even with moderate use, I cannot seem to go 12 hours without searching for a charger or really just putting my phone away just so I can save some battery life
why don't phones give you the option to overclock the cpu built in? why do you have to root it then install setcpu then overclock it a little bit or install a kernel to overclock it even more?
Straight up.. I've owned all the iPhones and a tonne of Android phones. The Galaxy Nexus with ICS is probably the best experience I've had so far. Kudos Google, you nailed it. 4.65 sounded so big, I just held my brothers GS2 and it feels like a tiny phone. 4.65 is by far the MAX size I would accept though.
I have had this phone for 3 months, I have to say this phone is amazing. No complains from me, It's a must buy, people out there buy this phone, you won't be disappointed
While it does depend on usage 4G LTE is a major problem in terms of battery life but the GSM HSPA version not only has better battery life but none of the bugs the CDMA one does
@andreo not sure if you have been told, but i have been hearing the app Volume+ has fixed issues of the galaxy nexus speaker. Try downloading that and see if your speaker quality is fixed
You should know since you checked the verge, that those are carrier prices. And while the price is high, and suggests that it might be a unlocked price, remember how google play prices their things a bit different.
black when iverge was The Verge.. damn
almost 3 years later, i still have this phone. only gonna upgrade when i absolutely need to
And it still lives today, on Android kitkat cm11!
Professional, well edited and with all the information I needed. Keep,up the good work.
"It has a gigantic 4.65 inch display"
*laughs in 5.6 inch display*
Laughs in 6.7 inch display)
laughs in 32 inch display
The Verge's reviews set a standard that no other tech blog/media outlet has even thought of yet. I love them.
2019 ?
Excellent review - great job. I must have watched 15-25 reviews of Galaxy Nexus and none came close to this one in terms of professional look and feel with plenty of useful info.
Congratulations on a job done exactly how a review should be done !
A gigantic 4.65-inch display. That's absolutely hilarious in 2020 stats.
Excellent review. In depth, nice camerawork, nice voice.
what an excellent review. So much better in presentation/style than what else is out there. Nice work Josh.
@TheVerge thank you so much for putting this vid up. It was EXTREMELY useful.
That was absolutely the most professional, most descriptive smart phone review I've seen. You my good sir, made me choose this over the razr. What was I thinking :P

Can't wait until I get this phone. Going to order it this week. So excited.

Also watching from my Galaxy Nexus ! Bought it in December, never been more happy about a phone !
This has got to be the best review i've seen so far! Great job! :)
man this review is awesome! this is the only galaxy nexus review I actually finished watching on youtube
The most professional phone review I have see to date. Wow you guys are good!
That's by far the best phone review I have encountered. Well-balanced, extremely informative, focused, overall professional in every respect. Also, props for Asimov and Herbert!
One of the best reviews I have seen on the Nexus yet,, Great job.
The Verge's reviews are so damn good! This was a very professional review. Great job!
@TheVerge
Thank you for using Heretics of Dune as a platform for that shot on the Nexus. Props.
Wow, of all of the Nexus Galaxy reviews I've watched here on YT this review ACTUALLY takes the viewer through the features of the phone. :-)
lasted me years... loved this phone.
Just wanted to let you know I loved how you did this review and the things you covered. Hope to see a video of you reviewing the HTC ONE X.
One of the best reviews I have seen for any gadget....Subscribed.
I like the filming technique. Good review!
Thanks for making a phone review video that's actually entertaining & stylish to look at.
So good to hear Josh's voice again :) haha
in your opinion or by fact of the specs..is this phone the best Samsung has? And do you recommend the Galaxy Nexus over the Iphone 4S, Rezound, and the Droid Razr?
I've never saw a better device review than this. This guy needs an Emmy. Keep up the great work!
Awesome review. But can someone please explain to me why every single G Nexus review I've watched or read says the panoramic feature is new? It's nowhere near new. My severely outdated Droid 2 has panoramic photo.
Good stuff man. I'm due for an upgrade in Feb, can't wait.

Great review. Never heard of Verge, but this was a pro ass review. Hit all the points I wanted to hear about.
Thanks man.

Is the nexus the phone in the center, or the phone on the left? Also, what is the name of the other android phone?
THANK-YOU. I was at a loss at what to get for a cell buuuut you cleared that up quick! This phone is coming to my service provider soon and I'm so excited! I'm hoping it's here by February when I get to use my upgrade, but I'm willing to wait. It seems worth it.
I love your reviews.. they're awesome, best reviews ever.
@1:17 it also has a barometer to measure the air pressure.
I've got a serious decision to make. Galaxy S3 will probably be released in July 2012. I actually don't know if it's worth waiting for or if I should buy the Galaxy Nexus instead. What do you think?
Hey do u have problems with some apps are not working properly or is it my device only?
Very good and clean review mate, keep it up!
Should I get this or should I wait for the S3
Might be getting it, but is the snazzy camera features the main main feature, or internet because of the Google partnership?
Great review. I hope you do more.
one of the best reviews ive ever seen of a phone here on youtube
Got mine today, so excited!
Is this phone outdated? Should I wait for the next Nexus or should I buy it now?
Im so happy i got this phone. Its waiting for me under the tree. But i gotta say this review and this review only made me completely forget about the Razr. This is the absolute most professional smartphone review i've ever seen. It's out of the ordinary.

This guy is a perfect reviewer. Very nice review voice as well xD
Good for us. I can't wait for the photo sphere camera app and the new drop down menu settings and also the new gesture typing. My phone never feels old.
Fantastic review.. even more looking forward to ICS now.. hopefully it translates as well on GS2
Love that 'Data cap' function.
and what is with the notification-led? Or the curve design? Maybe you can talk in the next review more about all the good things of the phone ;)
I've had my Nexus for about two weeks now and coming from the HTC EVO, this thing is amazing. I use it a ton during the day and it gets through the day with plenty of battery to spare, unlike the EVO. Is the screen still too blue and oversaturated like the previous AMOLED versions?
how does it feel when its in your pocket?
How is the G2X compared to the GOOGLE NEXUS? Whch is better?
Hey guys I need help. Is it better to buy samsung galaxy s ii or galaxy nexus. Money is not problem but I don't know what is better? What do you think?
I've had this phone for nearly a year and I still love it!
Thanks for the review, very professional and very detailed. A step above the rest. Subscribed!!!

thank you for reviewing.. :)
Hands down, this is simply the best review of any phone I've seen. A+
I know this is a minor feature, but I wanted to know if there is a LED light that flickers with a notification?
Awesome review, good camera angles, well detailed, all around good.
Hows the battery life, I need to update my phone soon and would like to stick with android. However, one thing I've learned from having a smartphone is the short battery life. good but is it waterproof?
Can you guys please upload in higher quality? 480p isn't cool enough for me
did some research the TI OMAP 4460 is a 1.5ghz processor, it is factory underclocked 1.2ghz to save battery...
A year on, still love this phone. And it'll be getting the latest Android updated soon! (no need to wait for carriers)
Its gonna be awesome to see the sales numbers for this phone when it comes out.
Yes they did all the time when it first came out. The Prada was even referenced by Apple in the design of the iPhone.
Is the screen safe without shield? I really loved the Gorilla Glass of my defy before. Any ideas?
BTW how's the battery life?
Great video! Can't wait any longer !
The unlocked GSM/HSPA+ version of this phone is also available in the U.S so we're not stuck with Verizon with the Galaxy Nexus.
I have had this phone for 3 months, I have to say this phone is amazing. No complains from me, It's a must buy, people out there buy this phone, you won't be disappointed
Should I get this or an iPhone 4 or an Xperia Play?
While it does depend on usage 4G LTE is a major problem in terms of battery life but the GSM HSPA version not only has better battery life but none of the bugs the CDMA one does
Which is better this phone or Samsung galaxy s2?
All around straight forward useful review. Thanks.
how's the battery life ?
@andreo not sure if you have been told, but i have been hearing the app Volume+ has fixed issues of the galaxy nexus speaker. Try downloading that and see if your speaker quality is fixed
how do you feel now that the cheap lg nexus 4 is out?
seems a lot like my macbook pro. The camera effect, the swiping away, etc. Good Work!
Need help,Which is better,Galaxy II or Nexus?Thanks
I'm really liking The Verge, Nice quality articles and review.
Man, if I was not very convinced of getting the Nexus, NOW YOU CONVINCED ME!! I want that phone NOW!!!
should I buy this or the nexus 4 ???? pls help
You should know since you checked the verge, that those are carrier prices. And while the price is high, and suggests that it might be a unlocked price, remember how google play prices their things a bit different.
Yes, check out Google Play. Google sells the GSM version directly there for $349.
