    I just bought this in 2017 and it's beyond worth it and still competes today. this is how you know cell phone technology is at a Plato, a 3 year smart phone still stands toe to toe with the new phones and give you features you haven't seen since the note 4. This phone with the Samsung multimedia smarty dock is a complete PC replacement. The note 5 toke way to much away just to up the design some, Like the note 5 has no MHL out so you can't connect to screens via HDMI connectors, only screen cast screen cast had a delay.

    Watching this on a note 9, close to the end of 2018. You can tell this was the beginning of what they transformed into now.

      I have this phone and was waiting for a note edge 2 because I got used to the true edge screen. Using a note 9 and miss the IR sensor, dlna and the screen. Only got the 9 because my edge screen cracked , I was eligible for a note 6 but held out for the note 7. I was hyped up and excited top get the note 7 then all that shit happened lol, the note edge was still getting updates Dec 2018! This phone is a landmark just like the fold.

    I have never used a Samsung phone. Even now I'm using an Iphone 6 plus,
    But I gotta hand it to Samsung... they are essentially the only innovators (good & bad) in the smartphone market these days.
    What has apple, lg, motorola, htc done these days in terms of innovative technology? Everything these days is just slight upgraded hardware and software tweeks.
    No one seems to venture out and take bold risks to actually go above and beyond, except Samsung. For as much criticism they have taken this last year,
    they are the only real innovator trying to break barriers while every other smartphone manufacturer is playing it safe. So in that respect, I give them credit where credit is due.

      I totally agree with you the iPhone 6 plus is a blown up iPhone 6, the nexus 6 is a blown up moto x, the Z ultra is a blown up xperia Z, but the Galaxy Note has software options and a stylus that make you want to use a phablet not just use a huge phone with no software features

    I'm still using my Samsung galaxy note edge and I love it! Rooted with custom kernel and Android marshmallow with updated ui, this phone is a beast! Multitasking is taken to another level and all long term users of this phone know exactly what i'm talking about. This phone can still go head to head with some of the best from today's market

      @jaxonadlard2680 ปีที่แล้ว

      Works like a champ still it is getting a bit older but still usable even now I would suggest investing into 3200mah battery and an 128gb SD card if your using it today been using it for about a week battery seems to last 4-8 hours depending use and most apps are downloadable but I wouldn't game on it or use it for vr either great phone to have if your a righty sadly I'm not so interfaces can get annoying

    • @jaxonadlard2680
      @jaxonadlard2680 ปีที่แล้ว

      Love that it connects to my tvs and also even apple devices over WiFi or the phone sensor. I picked mine up for $20 CAD included was a 2200 mah battery and 32gb sd not bad at all for a 2014 phone and the camera just barely gets away in 2023 for being good

    • @jaxonadlard2680
      @jaxonadlard2680 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's also a vr capable phone if you can find a gear vr for cheap and some velcro you can mod it to fit inside the headset with a sort of home aid strap and it works fine, the ram is 3GB and is just the sweet spot for getting away as usable in 2023 I would suggest going into the developer options and turning animation scale and duration scale to off as it makes the phone feel more fluent and fast

      The Note is the best all around phone. If you don't like it stock root it that's the beauty of Android. Ever since I rooted my Epic 4g some years ago, I've been hook on samsung. Samsung is boss when it comes to hardware "internal". Plus the support on XDA is overwhelmingly amazing. I buy a new phone every six months but I always run back to my Note. HTC's venom rom is a plus.

    • @JayDeePLUS-BEATZ
      @JayDeePLUS-BEATZ 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kris Kaop I just recently bought this in 2017. I also bought the Samsung Galaxy smart dock, 3 extra batteries and a battery cradle and I have it hooked to my flat screen with a keyboard and mouse. with the dock, I have a PS3 joystick plugged into the dock and I play GTA and 2k off my phone. I love going over friends houses and control their TV, their blown away. they don't even have a remote to they're own TV and here I come with a smart phone that controls their TV and cable box. This is a swish army knife for smart phones, replacement pc, gaming system, smart phone. the smart dock came out with the note 2 and was compatible with the s4 up to s6 and from the note 2 up to note 4, note 5 does not have MHL out and is not compatible with the Samsung smart dock, that with removable back, SD card and IR blatter made me buy the note 4 over the 5 in 2017 and i opted for the note edge just to have the edge over other smart phones. 😂😂😂

    • @JayDeePLUS-BEATZ
      @JayDeePLUS-BEATZ 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kris Kaop the note edge is running on 6.0.1 currently which is the same UI as the note 5. People who originally liked the first note loved big phones. The note 5 looks like a big phone but feels like a small phone. I am 6'2 so I have big hands and the note 5 feels smaller then the note 4 or edge which is something I don't like. Note 5 doesn't have MHL out, so you can't connect the note 5 to hdmi like the note 4 can. It's way more things and features on the note 4 then on the note 5. The note 4 and note edge is the last full featured smart phone from Samsung .everything after those two had been to focused on design over features that their starting to go backwards.
      Batteries have a shelf life of 1-3 years max. So, all the phones with solid Unibodies will become trash once the battery start showing age and use while the note 4 and edge will keep trucking and competing.

    • @seifseif4721
      @seifseif4721 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      JayDeePLUS BEATZ Note 5 is running grace ux as for noughat update with many more s pen features from the note 7. with the note 5 we are getting note 8 features soon with port this cannot be donr on edge bec it does not have noughat. batteries do wear after 2 years and is replacable on note 5 specially under warranty.

    • @JayDeePLUS-BEATZ
      @JayDeePLUS-BEATZ 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kris Kaop I haven't seen anything new in nougat to make me sacrifice all the great things that I love and only get with the note 4 and note edge . The only way I would upgrade and sacrifice is if they came out with new battery technology that wasn't lithium ion and could literally lay a full week without charging. Their making these higher power demanding screens with battery tech from 2001. They are maxing our current battery tech to the point of exploding. I want everything that the note 4 did (removable back or battery, MHL out, IR blaster, SD card) with a very long endurance battery in the note 8. If the note 8 comes out with another 3000, 3200, or 3400mah battery, Samsung is yet again sacrifice functionality over design to " compete" with Apple and iPhone

    • @JayDeePLUS-BEATZ
      @JayDeePLUS-BEATZ 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      cool person the most interesting thing in New cell phone tech is the new 5g Lte. And if the note 8 doesn't have 5g reciever then it's not that future proof

      @dynamicmaxwell120 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jose R , regarding that comment, he's giving you both sides. There's little available now which you'll have to live with, but the potential is there for other developers. He's not trying to convince you to buy it either. He's just simply letting you know these are the little things you get. Just like Michael's other videos on other Android OEMs, he's just simply presenting both sides. There's nothing suspicious. Being balanced doesn't mean you have to spend equal time giving positives and negatives. It means presenting a balance of quality of the device's strengths and weakness. It's less quantitative.

      @DarkPa1adin 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jumping from ex phone dog aaron baker, to androidauthority's joshua, initially i felt that Michael Fisher's lacks energy in his presentation. After being accustomed to him, i think he is the more formal presenter and well articulated reviewer :) I do hope he can bring it one aspect's of Erica's review which is the display colour accuracy :)

    • @dynamicmaxwell120
      @dynamicmaxwell120 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      DarkPa1adin I'd prefer Michael not go down the Erica route on displays. I like that his is less technical and allows him not to nitpick over screen quality which I find Erica do too much.

Best decision in a long time, and as far as the battery life. charged it full by 9pm last evening and now tonight at 11pm sti showing 32% after several hours of talk and ot of twitter tumler instagram and snapchat all day today. The only oem to think ahead of the future is samsung. Lg seems to copy anything that samsung pulls off and htc with the premium design feel. And apple's got you covered if you are the brand and fast update type. There's literally everything for all kinds of people so stop throwing hate words if you claim to be fanboy of perticular one. +Praze E Nokias lost their battle, cause windows arent make Nokia the same phone we used to have. Max? Too large, but of course Moto X is top phone in android, but now i am saving money for Sony Xperia z5 premium. I love that phone.

    I have the Droid turbo, but I just ordered the note edge alone wit the watch. I have the Moto 360 as well. But after researching this phone I had to order it. Now if my turbo had a bigger phone screen I would b ok. But if it had a bigger screen the battery life would not b that good. I've been rockin mnoto for years and this will be my 1st Samsung..I can't wait ti get it. And that curve edge is just ...right on...!!!!!!!!

    Love how this reviewer seems like he cant stand to say anything good about it but can't deny the phone is badass. I dont have one, i still have my Note 3, but having owned quite a few smartphone over the past almost decade, my note is by far the best and most useful of the smart phones I have ever had. This guy needs to stop his love affair with apple and accept Samsung as the best developer of smart phones currently around. That may change in awhile, but right now, Samsung is the undisputed top dog.

      Most of the guys at Pocketnow used US carrier versions of Samsung phones and complained about Touchwiz being laggy. They also hate plastic claiming it's cheap. Glass isn't any better as it's a fingerprint magnet and fragile.

    I get 6.5 hours onscreen time on my Note Edge.. u just need to read the XDA Note Edge forums on how to optimize the phone... iv put a power button app on the edge screen so no problem with the power button on top... it s is a very comfortable phone for me. I don't know why he says it's not great to hold.. the edge screen makes the phablet format user friendly for one handed use. I just don't know how he got 2 folders on the edge i only have 1 ?!?!

    What phone give you that special, above the rest, cutting edge design feel? This is it!
    Sometimes we like living on the edge, safely, this is it!
    Sometimes we like to be the rare few who owe that premium, cutting edge thing that give us a leading edge appeal, this is it!
    Is Note Edge amount all mobile phones cutting edge and leading edge? I do see that edge!

    you dont need a curved display on the side to show a ruler though... All other android phones can serve as a ruler without a curved display at the side. Even a real ruler is flat. Unless you really want to measure your foot while watching some youtube while replying your twitter messages

    Hello all. Please can someone tell me how I turn off the edge scree, when the Galaxy Note Edge is in standby mode? When the screen is black, you still have that Galaxy Note Edge line written on the edge screen. I always have the impression it will consume a lot of battery. Also in my pocket, I'm afraid it might launch apps unnecessarily. Thanks.

    I think you are being unfair to the EDGE Michael. I really do. The EDGE is a great phone. It is like having the coolest launcher on the planet. I have bought way too many crappy launchers. This is the first (expensive) launcher that makes great sense. I love the notifications it offers and the easy and quick access to everything I need. Give it a break brother.
