yep, but he didn't want to make that come through so most people today think its a love song, well it kinda is but a different love :S and i still feel today people dont give enough credit for Clapton "the composer", for the guitarist yes but nof the composer
Eric wrote this song after his toddler son died from falling out of a window in an apartment building. He did it as therapy to help move on. It was also used for the soundtrack for the movie "Rush" which is shown in the video. Many played this at loved one's funerals which is understandable. Don't feel bad, I still get choked up when listening to it. Eric "Slow Hand" Clapton is iconic as a guitar artist and singer. A must is "Layla" when he was with Derick & the Dominos (actually he was Derick). And when he was with Creme listen to "Sunshine of Your Love".
Mais uma inscrita em seu canal! Linda reação ❤ Essa música é muito triste, chorei aqui também 😢 senti a mesma emoção que vc. Gostaria de sugerir Gabriel Henrique, I don't wanna miss a thing
I like to think that Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On is a step ahead of this one with the ability to emotionally move someone. But See You Again is a top tier song in that arena.
Millie, my friend, absolutely proper reaction on SO many levels. Knowing this song was about Eric's toddler son who'd just died...seeing my own daughter just a little younger than his son when he passed...I can't help crying like a baby hearing the song. When you're blessed with having a child of your own, you'll truly understand 1) the love you hear in his voice, but 2) understand just how devastating it would be to lose that little one. I pray to God himself you get to feel the first of those two, and never the latter.
Millions of people have cried to this song, knowing why he wrote it. (First how to deal with the grief and shock over losing his son,but then into a pure tribute) This featured in the movie Rush, where one of my favourite actresses Jennifer Jason Leigh and Jason Patric (also known from Speed 2 with Sandra Bullock) played 2 cops that went undercover in an important police case. Some of the scenes is when they find themselfs struggling during this time,so they naturally fitted perfectly with Erics lyrics for the music video. It was one of my moms absolute favourite songs, then i lost her to cancer way back in christmas 2002,so i had this song played on the day of her funeral (little christmas eve). I have continued to have this played on her birthday ever since too.
Let your tears flow. I can't avoid crying anytime I hear this one. It's a beautiful song but lyrically it's a tribute toward the tragic loss of his infant son
His son was 4 years old, not an infant. It doesn't lessen the tragedy but I wanted to have accurate info out there. To me, it is more tragic losing a son whom you've known for 4 years, who has developed a personality and a relationship with you and then to be suddenly taken from you like that. It's very sad.
This song gets me every time. That movie was actually made about the song not the other way around. As a musician yourself I am surprised you have never heard this.
This is even more melancholy and sad than you even imagined. AS others have noted it was written in memory of his son who died tragically, falling out of a window in NYC. Clapton was not at that home at the time. It is unbelievable that the person who co-wrote Sunshine of Your Love, Layla, and Bell Bottom Blues, could write such a different style of masterpiece.
I played this on guitar on my sisters funeral. It took me a very very long time before I could listen to this song again, but it's too beautiful not to listen to.
i'm giving you a big virtual hug right now. it's very hard being the one left behind when someone you care deeply for passes on. i've gone through that more times than i care to mention with both family and friends. songs like this help ease the pain, and let us know we aren't alone. take care ,sweet girl.
Beautiful. You revealed your kind, compassionate heart. You enjoyed the meal instead of figuring out how it was made. Bravo! I so enjoyed this reaction and even though I've seen many of this song, still cried with you.
Your reaction is beautiful and genuine. Every time I listen to this song I choke up and get emotional given that it's about the tragic death of his young son. As a father, I just can't imagine his pain.
This song is about the death of Eric Clapton's 4 year old son Conor. On March 20th 1991, Eric Clapton's 4-year-old son Conor, died after falling from the 53rd-floor window of a New York City apartment building. Eric Clapton was due to arrive to pick up Conor for a day out, this time to the Bronx Zoo and lunch at an Italian restaurant when tragedy struck. Conor was running around the apartment on the 53rd-floor in the New York high-raise his mother shared with Italian film producer Silvio Sardi, excited to see his “papa.” A janitor had been working on the windows in the living room but one was still open. “Eric called out to the nanny to watch the child, but before she could react, Conor dashed past her, jumped up on to the low window-ledge where he’d normally press his nose against the glass to gaze out and disappeared,”
This story and song makes me cry.. I am the father of four and I cannot imagine the pain at a loss like this. A real gut punch!!!!! Eric was a big time doper and drinker back in the day. Yet he stayed straight & sober after this horrible event...... My hat off to the man!!!!! My oldest son was in a head-on car crash one evening. And it scared the crap out of me.... Thank you GOD for protecting him. O.K. pretty & young bass girl, I thought of one for you. It is Mr. Jack Bruce. He was the bassist in the band Cream. There are videos of him playing a fret less bass. Eric also was in this band. One of the three times he was voted into the Rock and Roll hall of Fame... That band was Cream. Check them out. "Sunshine of your Love" was a big hit for them!!!!! That was their first song I remember.... It was way before your time, love.... You will not be sorry!
It is truly a testament to how powerful music is and how deeply it affects us and how it crosses all boundries and cultures in ways nothing else can. His son was co-opted for the movie "Rush" but it was truly a song from his heart for the loss of his sweet 4 year old son to a very tragic accident falling from a 53rd floor window.
Even after all these years, this song still hits like a gut punch. My brothers and I all love music. In fact my younger brother named his first son after Eric's son. As for his albums 461 Ocean Boulevard, Slow Hand, Unplugged, Journeyman, Riding with the King (with BB King) Old sock, The Breeze An appreciation of JJ Cale. And so many more. ALL should listened to in their entirety
Regardless of my personal feelings about Eric Clapton as a person, this is a beautiful song about a tragic moment in his life, which he has tried to find closure for and I think it’s definitely a masterpiece
Millie, your reactions always are sooo true and honest - I really love to watch your reaction videos. Btw Eric Clapton was my guitar hero back in the days of Cream ( so I'm pretty old ...). By now you already know about the reason why Clapton wrote this song - it IS a hard and a very emotional song - don't be ashamed of the tears you shed! ( I just joined you in that...)
the song is featured in a movie called Rush eric Clapton originally wrote this song after the death of his young son who fell out of a window in New York
Music is magic. And as musicians, we touch people's hearts and souls. And a song can hit us hard if it hits a sore spot. Music is something that needs no language because it is universal. It is a part of the Universal Spirit that permeates everything.
MILLIE...not here this time for the song for once, here for your reaction, this can be a tough one to take. Thanks for everything you do. Actually written to his 4yo son who died accidentally.
The live version from Unplugged is even better than the studio version. Eric must have performed this song hundreds of times live, which considering the background to it is astonishing to me. Other solo Clapton, ‘Wonderful Tonight’, ‘Layla’, ‘Old Love’, ‘After Midnight’, Running On Faith’, and ‘Bad Love’ to name just a few.
You love Freddie Mercury. You like cats . You are sensitive and you transmit it with your gestures when listening to music and with your joy when playing it. Thank you for being so tender, beautiful and human.
The movie those scenes are from is called "Rush" made in1991 , excellent movie and well worth watching. I think of my dad when I hear it, he died not long after it was released
Millie As others have stated here, this song is a tribute to Eric's late son, Conor. Conor tragically died when he fallen thru open window on 53rd floor. Conor was 4 or 5 at the time of the tragedy. Sad and beautiful song is part of soundtrack for the movie, Rush.
this song is an emotional nuclear bomb. when it came out back in the day, it was literally everywhere. i remember hearing it for the first time at the MTV Unplugged concert and it was mind-blowing. also, the movie in the background is literally just as heartbreaking. like if you have to pair a song and a movie, this is a top-tier pairing.
This was a tragic accident that he lost his 4 yr old falling out a window. This song was on the soundtrack for 1991 movie about two cops going under cover and getting addicted to drugs it was called Rush. Thanks for your great videos.
Can't believe you didn't know that this song was about Clapton's losing his young son in a tragic accident! Glad you felt his emotion, but it's more personal than a backing track to a movie! Thank you for feeling the emotion it deserves!
Eric's 4 year old son Conor, fell out of a window from 53 stories up in a New York apartment building in 1995. Although the video you see is from the film Rush, the song is about Conor.
Bester Mann und kann es sehr nachvollziehen. Habe selber zwei Kinder verloren und kann mich mit dem Song sehr identifizieren. Liebe Grüße gehen raus und immer schön darüber nachdenken was euch im Leben wichtig ist. German Guy ;-)
The scenes are from a movie called "Rush" - used it in the soundtrack well after the song was written for the reason already explained below - he is not talking about what the video is showing - really good movie, BTW
I mean the other comments already say it, but as a small additon i wanna say, the song was written from the perspective of his 4yo son. You can see that specially at the last sentence.
I was a young dad when I read about his son dying. I asked my wife how long would it be before the sun rose again in that situation? Then months later heard this come on the radio and it needed no explanation.
Tears in Heaven" is a ballad written by Eric Clapton and Will Jennings about the pain Clapton felt following the death of his four-year-old son, Conor, who fell from a window of the 53rd-floor New York apartment of his mother's friend, on March 20, 1991.
lifelong lover of rock music, Slash has cited many players in his time as heroes. One man he’s regularly spoke about is Eric Clapton. He even calls Cream’s psychedelic masterpiece ‘Sunshine of Your Love’, the song that made him pick up the guitar. He told Music Radar: “This is the record I was listening to when I chose to play guitar. While he was talking to me, he was playing ‘Sunshine Of Your Love’, including the Clapton solo bit. When I heard that, I was like, ‘That’s what I wanna do!’ So that’s how I started playing guitar.”
A very honest emotional reaction, showing us the beatiful effect that music can have on us. Seeing the Lego van Gogh "Stary night" behind you, reminded me of another song that makes you feel a lot: "Vincent " by Don McLean. ( You probally know his song "American Pie").
One of the saddest songs, if not the saddest song I've ever heard. That it was done after the death of his toddler brings it home. It wasn't just a theoretical song, but him feeling pure and raw pain. 😢
Yes, that is from a movie, but I can't remember which. I'm sure someone has pointed it out already..The actor there is Jason Patric..He is the son of the late Jason Miller, who played the priest (Father Karras) in the Exorcist...He is also the grandson of the late comedian Jackie Gleason.
This is possibly the saddest damn song ever written. This song applies to any loss. For me, to mom and dad and younger brother, and relatives whoa re all gone. Millie any body who has a cat is okay with me hahahah, we have two. I cannot sing this song anymore because I lost my only sibling, my younger brother, and I am the only one left of my original family at age 67. So I continue to be a musician [former school music teacher] in senior hmes, 220 gigs a year to help forget the pain...
Beautiful and hear breaking. I wonder how many tears this song has produced? I certainly have contributed. :,) As said in the comments "Tears in Heaven on MTV unplugged 1992 " is the best.
Me too, 71. He was on the way to pick Conor up and take him to the zoo for the first time. Little boy went to the floor to ceiling windows to look out to see if he could see his daddy coming, and fell out of the 53rd floor window to his death. Clapton was only a blocker so away and saw the crowd gather and said he was overtaken by a feeling of Doom.
This song was written for the movie soundtrack RUSH. Unfortunately, he had a life tragedy at the same time. Rush stars Jason Patrick, Jennifer Jason Lee, Sam Elliot. The story is about 2 narcotics officers undercover and getting lost in the mix. Greg Allman from the Allman bros band stars as the kingpin drug dealer.
Thx Millie. You're right. Jennifer Jason Leigh and BF suffers by drugs, but besides your good eyes, you deliver some tears in heaven. You are what I suspected, a good person. Peace.
Hi Millie, I subscribed to your channel. I saw here a request for your reaction to the great Brazilian vocalist Gabriel Henrique. I'm a fan of Gabriel - he has many fans in Brazil and around the world, especially after his recent participation in America's Got Talent. His latest cover is I Don't Want To Miss a Thing (Aerosmith).
Such a sad song, considering why it was written. Emotions are a huge reaction to music. Need to find a less sad song from EC for the next review. The No Reason to Cry album has some great tracks on it, my favourite being Hello Old Friend, or Sign Language with a special appearance by Bob Dylan.
Millie, your reaction was beautiful! Eric Clapton marked a generation with this song☺️. I would really like you to react to Gabriel Henrique singing I Don't Want To Miss a Thing by Aerosmith. It is wonderful!
Soundtrack from movie "RUSH". On March 20, 1991, Conor Clapton, son of Eric and Lory Del Santo, fell from a skyscraper in New York. His tragic death will inspire Tears In Heaven.
You should check out circus by Eric Clapton he actually wrote the song before the accident it's about when he took his son to the circus and that was a day before he fell out of t window
I know his pain. Many many years ago I buried my wife and daughter. Like Eric, somehow I found a way to survive. And now I advocate against drunk driving.
Lost my son, he was 25. I wore his dog tag for a while. But the sound of the tag moving when I slept, nightmares. And I wore dog tags for 6 years, so I was used to the sound. It's a different sound now.
This is about the tragic death of his son. in a moment of inattention the toddler pushed open a apartment window and fell to his death. It is a the sound track of a very harsh unbelievable painful reality.
The song was written as a tribute to his son who died at four by falling out the window and this is why he is a legend.
I'm amazed he can even get through a performance of the song.
yeah he said in an interview that even his Mtv Unplugged concert he broke down after the performance@@JB-Deadskins
yep, but he didn't want to make that come through so most people today think its a love song, well it kinda is but a different love :S and i still feel today people dont give enough credit for Clapton "the composer", for the guitarist yes but nof the composer
And it hits so much harder, the lyrics when you know it’s a child he is singing about.
@@EsoxLucius21 right? she is emotional and doesn't know what it is about. I bet when she finds out, it will hit her 10x harder

Magnificent reaction, more telling than words❗

Even when you don't know the story behind the song... when you love music, you can feel the meaning anyway
A perfect reaction to a beautiful song, just imagine Millie's reaction had she known about Eric Clapton's little son before pressing "play",🙂

The story is about 2 narcotics officers undercover and getting lost in the mix. Greg Allman from the Allman bros band stars as the kingpin drug dealer.
Thx Millie. You're right. Jennifer Jason Leigh and BF suffers by drugs,
but besides your good eyes, you deliver some tears in heaven.
You are what I suspected, a good person. Peace.
Air hugs, sweet lady!
This song was played at my grandad's funeral 😥😥 such a moving song
You can't go wrong listening to more Eric Clapton! Personally, I really like the unplugged version of Layla..
Muito significativa e emocionante essa letra!! Gostaria muito de vê-la reagir ao cover I dont want to miss a thing / Gabriel Henrique. Grata 💗💗💗💗

The song is about his son. "Rush" is the film.
Your heart is very good Millie, I think you feel his hurt 💔
Reaja ao Gabriel Henrique á I Don't Want To Miss A Thing, ele tem um talento extraordinário

I know his pain. Many many years ago I buried my wife and daughter. Like Eric, somehow I found a way to survive. And now I advocate against drunk driving.
Gabriel Henrique is an extraordinary. I'd love for you to react to his video for "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing”❤
If rain during a funeral can sing, this will definitely be it.
A very powerful song!
Have a look at ERIC CLAPTON - River of Tears live it is just class.
Eric Clapton is a legend. He is the 2nd best guitarist in the world!! PS he is singing to his son.
