- This PTC (Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters, Inc.) enclosed coaster is themed around the local mining industry, with a spooky twist. The coaster was originally known as Golden Nugget at Dinosaur Beach on the Jersey Shore and was a childhood favorite of Richard Knoebel's sons.
Knoebels Amusement Resort is located in Elysburg, Pennsylvania.

definitely had less or different braking on the two drops when it was Golden Nugget; you can see on videos from that era how much faster the carts took those big curves below both big drops. Particularly fun because as GN, that first drop led to a 180 curve precariously dangled outside the ride enclosure.
A fascinating peek behind the curtain. It's not every day that people get a chance to see something like this. Thank you!

This was a classic Hunt's Pier ride back in the 60's, 70's, and 80's in Wildwood. So much has changed since it was transported to Knoebels, but I like the way they renovated the ride in an effort to keep the Golden Nugget spirit alive.
Yeah....I miss the screeching around the outside turns, the open top to view the beach......loved that ride since I was a kid.

My family used to go to Wildwood every summer in the mid- 1970s. This ride on Hunt’s Pier is honestly what got me interested in exploring abandoned mines. I also like haunted houses, and the Whacky Shack
which was located across the pier from this ride was another big influence on me. “Watch the tram car please!”

OneWheelProductions I've been going there since I was a baby I remember almost everything the only thing I want to forget is when my cousin got lost but we found her I was probably six so she was five but everything about Knoebels is awesome!

They should give people a chance to ride with the lights on, have certain times of the years when the lights are on.

It used to be much faster when it was the Golden Nugget in WWNJ
There were actually some times when it went faster. Occasionally the slowdown and speedup motors located at various points along the track would break. When they broke, the car would either stop or simply increase speed, partly due to the motor being broken and partly due to the downward slope of the track. We would have to shut the ride down while the mechanic replaced the motor (he had plenty of them ready to go). About a 15-20 minute process.
Originally it was the Golden Nugget at Hunts Pier in Wildwood New Jersey many years ago. Then it sat vacant for years until the pier was reopened as Dinosaur Beach until that pier closed. Many childhood memories at Hunts Pier.

Good attempt at a Disney type theme ride. I like that it comes out of a gate at the side at the end. I remember my brother and I at the haunted house ride at Seaside Heights, NJ waiting in line by the gate where the ride ends trying to tell if people like the ride or not or shouting "How was it?"

I am so glad I found this video. I used to ride this every summer when it was the Golden Nugget in Wildwood. Watching this, I could almost feel as though I was back riding it with my sister, laughing away, with my mom waiting for us outside. Begging to ride it one more time. Then heading over to the Keystone Kops. Good memories!

Loved this since I always wanted to see a haunted ride with the lights on. I also always wanted to climb out of the car and now I see I won't ever be doing that.

I only like this ride because its mining themed me being from schuylkill county I am a coal miner myself and its really unique having the coal mining theme

Growing up in the 80's I went to Knoebel's every year with my grandparents for the 4th of July weekend. Had this ride been around at that time, it would have scared the crap out of me. I was terrified by the idea of the Centralia mine fire.
Enjoy it while you can. The Democrats want to shut it down and turn it into a green energy walk through. It will cost three times the current admission price, and the scenes will consist of trending woke themes. The animated figures will be battery operated, and the whole ride will need an 18 hour recharging window, but only if the Sun is out to shine on the solar panels.

The only thing that has ever bothered me with this park is the almost themed rides. There are so many places where with some more work you could really take it over the top. You could build this rides theme out with foam concrete and really make it feel like an underground coal mine. But it feels a little cheesy. The haunted house is the same way. As is the log flume. There is a certain slight lack to the theme and where it is heavy it sort of looks like kids did it.
Knoebels has my heart for life. But they really need to work on their immersion.
I wished I liked this ride more. Being local to the area, I've ridden the ride several times and it does not impress me for the whopping price they charge for it. Anyways, nice video!

Nice long and interesting ride. Seems that no expense was spared with the displays. Blackpool. UK, had something similar but shorter and now re-adapted as a rather silly children's ride, Wallace and Grommet.

It's far from a silly ride. W&G is one of the best dark rides in the UK. Much better than the gold mine

andrew e Old dark ride gag, just when it looks like you're going to get soaked, the water shuts off completely. Sometimes you do still get a few drops on you tho, haha.
Actualy the Haunted Mansion's reason behind the water falling before u exit is an overflow thing most of the time water gets stuck up there so they need a way to dump it and thats there cheap way of doing it

Tbh the past few times i’ve been at the park this attraction had no line
MY FAVORITE RIDE AT HUNTS PIER WAS THE GOLDEN NUGGET SHAFT RIDE AND IT KILLED ME TO SEE IT SIT ROTTING YEARS LATER ON THE SAME PIER. THIS RIDE HAD TO BE PATTERNED AFTER THE GOLDEN NUGGET.
This ride is the Golden Nugget. Knoebles purchased the track and used it to build Black Diamond.

I was so really scared but it was so very creepy and stuff and also i was on that ride with Preston Koch
So I am not personally a fan of roller coasters or many rides in general. My company had a family day at Knoebels and I wanted to enjoy myself. I looked at the rides they offered and decided this would be a good one (mind you I haven't been an amusement park since I was 11 and I'm 23) I went on it, loved it, however the last teeny tiny dip freaked me out so much I just about peed myself!

Neither, the BEST. Honestly was the most anti-climatic POV coaster ride I've participated in. I kept thinking it's going to be nuts in the next second, just to be defeated. I loved it!

No one is allowed to film during daily operations. This was done with the PR dept, and done on off hours.

This is like 3x as long as the Whacky Shack at Waldameer Park Erie PA.
We went on that when I was like 7 I hated anything fast or things that have drops and stuff and I still do my gram parents and my parents wanted to go on it and I didn't at all so when we were getting on they kept saying it was a cho cho ride (train ride) even the people who were controlling the ride I believed it than I had to go through all of it and came out crying but I still hate those rides
If this is a roller coaster, then the Haunted Mansion in Disney World is also a roller coaster....

This is not powered trains is it? Can't see any way the train would drive itself along the track in a lot of places, impressive the way it maintains a consistent speed if it's not powered..... most of the track must be on a VERY gradual decline.
Yes this is a gravity coaster, not powered.

Fury 325 it’s not supposed to be thrilling per-say, the scenes and props are what make this ride.

The lift tools and drops throughout the ride were pretty cool but the overall idea is really lame, not much to see... would have been better as they wanted house or Haunted Mansion type of ride with more things to see
The Pennsylvania mining industry is very important to the local history, and it is about Centrailia. They have a great Haunted House ride already?

It looks like it COULD be fun, IF they took their foot off the brake. Why is it SO SLOW?? The animatronic figures on the sidelines are having more fun than any rider would.

Not a roller coaster
No it is a rollercoaster, it rolls downward and goes up atleast once. It is also not powered. So it meets all the requirements by Guiness and RCDB.
