Our daughter's family have visited several time with their their young (at the time) children. On one of the first visits, they were leaving the park at closing and our grandson was crying and upset that he had not gotten a balloon. A man from the park saw this and inquired what the problem was. He then took the boy and parent in his golf cart, back into the park and got him a balloon. The gentleman.....Mr. Knoeble himself. He said no child should leave the park unhappy.

Knobels was the first park that I went to with the coaster club we are in. This park is amazing. The people are wonderful. Dick was a bit under the weather when we were there, but he was the one to start off the speakers at our lunch (which was probably the best catered lunch at a theme park that I've had) and stayed around to talk with any one of us. I love this place, and it is now my annual birthday trip. What's even better is its in October

I rate parks on how many great rides they have regardless of the costs. Knoebels has an insanely high quality lineup. Best flyers, haunted house, wooden coaster (arguably), carousel, and bumper cars in addition to multiple unique or rare rides. I's actually my favorite park in PA.

    • @coastaku1954
      @coastaku1954 ปีที่แล้ว

Bull, fucking, shit! You know Hersheypark exists, right? Also Knoebels has a shitty lineup! A painful Woodie with WAY too many laterals, an Overrated Woodie with meh airtime, a decent bobsled coaster with a stupidly long line, and a boring Eurofighter knockoff. Go to Hersheypark. A racing GCI, an Intamin Hyper, an Intamin Eurofighter knockoff, an RMC, a B&M Hyper, a B&M Invert, a fucking SCHWARTZKOPF LOOPER, and an actually decent classic woodie!

As a french tourist, I completely agree with all you said in that video : Knoebels is a unique kind of experience and is definitely different from other amusement parks. It's cosy, typically american and refreshing. It was an unexpected surprise in a 3-week park trip and I'm glad I discovered it that way ! I would love to get back there someday to make other friends discover it, and try to finaly be able to get on Flying Turns which was closed during my visit.
Thanks for your quality content guys ! Please feel free to ask any tips if your planning to visit some european theme parks or french ones ;)

We go to Knoebel’s every year. I am 57 and have been going since I was a child. Having a large family, Knoebel’s has made amusement parks possible. The kiddie rides were great for elementary schoolers, thrill rides for the teens and a baby in a stroller and mom didn’t have to break the bank. We all love the train and the mine/Knoebel’s museum and I just discovered the carousel museum. When we were young parents, you could leave your cooler on a table and come back later to eat. Best place for families!

This was so fun to see featured here! I commute to work past this park twice a day, 6 days a week. It's so close to my home that there are years I regrettably haven't even stepped foot in the park.... until Halloweekends that is! Hahaha 😂 The funniest thing about Knoebels is that every year since I moved to the area in '06 is that I've guided atleast 2 or more lost motorists/campers to their destination between I-80 and the park. Whether its an older coupler questioning their decision to take the back country wooded roads, younger kids broke down along the way "in the middle on their nowhere", or like this year the 40ft Georgetown Luxury motorhome I managed to drive up alongside just in time to stop them before they could turn down a dreadfuly narrow twisty, turny hill leading to a tiny covered bridge where they surely would've had a helluva time turning back from, I no longer curse the out of town traffic the way my impatient, younger self once did. Glad you enjoyed Elysburg's not-so-hidden gem! Ya'll come back whenever you want!

I grew up ~4 hours from the park, and for several years it was a summer highlight for us to go camping at the park for a weekend. I always loved it, and had a great time. The Phoenix is definitely the best wooden coaster I've ever been on, no contest. I also really enjoyed the bumper boats.

I used to live near there and loved the park. I thought the Twister was a wilder ride than the Phoenix. The best thing about Knoebels is that it’s not overly commercialized. It fits the culture of the area around it.

Our family has enjoyed this park for many years - it is just family oriented, nice to be able to take grandparents without having to pay for them to get in and there is plenty of benches w/ shade for them as they wait for the grandchildren to ride their rides. Such a great hidden gem, we love it and appreciate their focus on families having a place to have fun together without breaking the bank!!!

My family started going here in the late 60s. We are from Philadelphia, 2 1/2 hours away. It is the best place to take your family. Now our grandkids love it. the Phoenix can't be beat. I always look forward to spending a day here. When our kids were small we would rent a house inside the park for a week. Great, great family friendly park.

Amazing charm, amazing history, and a wonderful time! 7 stars!... is this yelp? or...

Knobels Park is a treasure of Pennsylvania. I grew up not far from Knobels. Our family went many times. Generations of Pennsylvanians have memories of going there as kids at least once every summer. I'm happy to have been one of those kids. I currently live in Nashville,Tennessee. Here, we used to have a theme park called "Opryland, USA." The owners, Gaylord Entertainment, tore it down and built a shopping mall.
I wish we had Knobels here! It would fit right in!!

Grew up 10 miles north of the park. It's a special place for sure, and it's wonderful not to be constantly gouged for parking, food, entry fees, etc... The sound of those carousels and merry go round immediately brings it all back.

I’m local to Knoebels and I love that park. You can park so close with a motorcycle that it’s nice to just zip in and get something to eat, maybe ride the phoenix a few times and head out. Kids have a blast at this place but there’s plenty of nice adult rides too. The arcade has modern pinball machines, Theatre of Magic, Godzilla, Mandalorian and Jurassic park are there now $1/play 3/$2. Prices for everything is very reasonable and don’t understate how great the food is, there’s several restaurants, kiosks and an international food court that has some interesting menus. Gator is delicious. Also they have 2 bald eagles on site that are very majestic as balls.

I live in Pennsylvania and have grown up with Knoebels. It’s been my favorite park since the 60’s. There are other parks as close or closer to us than Knoebels, but Knoebels is the favorite. Our children and grandchildren are fans as well. I think the best way to describe it for us is “our favorite family amusement park.” Your video showed it well!

Couldn't resist watching your review. I live in PA but unlike you I actually dislike amusement parks categorically. That said I've been to Knoebel's once -- and I don't regret the time spent in the least. My companions all brought small children and we had a very nice time, without spending the equivalent of an airline ticket to Europe. The park knows what it is and who it serves -- it's an honest family business and I appreciate their approach. Glad you liked it too!

So I lived near Scranton for 25 years. I’d go to Knoebels at least once a year. I once took an Uber with my pops because we needed to get away from work as we worked at the same place... We weren’t able to get one on the return trip home. That was a day I’ll remember forever. One of the most beautiful days at the park I’ve ever had too. Great place to bring your dogs as its pet friendly as well!

I live just over 20 mi away from Knoebels. It's one of those places where on a Sunday afternoon in the summer you might sit around and say to yourself, "I'm bored, anyone wanna take a ride to Knoebels?" And hop in the car and go! You and your friends can go there each with a $20 bill and some leftover tickets from the last time you were there in your pocket, get a couple slices of pizza, some tri tators, and ride the Cosmotron. Ask the DJ to play some Black Sabbath to really make it a vintage experience.

I've been to this park a handful of times with friends and family. One of the most enjoyable experiences at any amusement park. You just feel totally relaxed. Unlike other parks where it can get high stress from the overly crowded lines and crazy high prices for everything. Knoebels takes the pressure with free entry and free parking and having a friendly staff. It definitely gives a family atmosphere but not just your family. You feel like you're at giant picnic together with everyone there. Highly recommend anyone to go here. I haven't been in quite a few years and I definitely miss it. Glad you enjoyed your experience.

It's definitely a park for little kids, more rides for them to enjoy. I was there last when they were starting to build the trackless coaster. Also staying at the near campsites were convenient as well. It's a great place for families.

It's a great park for kids because of its dedicated kids section, but that hardly makes it just a 'park for little kids'. My grandparents would travel in several times a year just to eat, walk around, and watch some bluegrass shows. Knoebels is truly a park for everyone.

For sure, the best park in America. No stress, a large free parking lot with trams, no outrageously over priced food or rides, can bring in your own food and drinks and leave at a table without worry, lots of trees, creeks, benches, pavilions, bathrooms, loads of kiddie rides…a parent’s dream park. Nothing even compares for a family trip. Nothing.

When our kids were little, we would drive the 1:45 north to Knoebels with $20 in our pocket. At the time, that was enough money to have the kids ride the kiddie rides for the entire afternoon. Most of the kiddie rides were only 50 cents at the time. Now that the kids are grown, my wife and I will still do the drive just to ride some of our favorites, which are: the Phoenix, the grand carousel, bumper cars, the Italian Trapeze (swings), the Whip plus any others we have time for. Also love the train. And the Phoenix is the BEST COASTER I have ever ridden

It’s a mandatory trip for a lot of families in rural Pennsylvania to visit Knoebels every summer. My parents took me as a child, I’ve taken my children, now grown, and look forward to taking my grandchildren. So far, it’s a tradition that has lasted over fifty years.
I’ve been to Disney, Busch Gardens, Great Adventure and even Knott’s Berry Farm and Knoebels is still my favorite place to take my family.

As a PA native who grew up going to Knoebels many times during my childhood, this park holds a special place in my heart. It is 100% a no pressure park and I adore that. Phoenix is always amazing and I love Twister just as much. The staff is always super friendly and the food is on a whole other level. Whenever my husband and I make the journey to Knoebels we always have such a good time.
Sorry your OPs experience wasn't the best. We've never encountered that during any of our trips so its possible you got a rare "off day". That being said covid really did hit the park hard and they're still struggling a bit with staffing but as mentioned we've never had any issues.
I will forever love this park and if I ever have kids will be sure to show them the magic it holds.

Live in South Jersey. We have made the 3 hour trip a number of times to visit and stay over night locally. Its our favorite park. With Six Flags Great Adventure only an hour away, I'd rather come here. I grew up in Jackson where SFGA is located and worked there for 4 years as a teen. It has become a bit of a ghetto amusment park because of the proximity to New York city, Philadelphia and locally, Lakewood. If you havent been to Knoebels, make the effort to get there. You won't regret it and you'll return repeatedly. As for parks like Disney and Universal which I've been to, you can keep them. They're just money grabs.

For a truly Americana experience, in late August I would bring my family (when our kids were younger) for a long weekend to both Knoebel's and the Little League World Series in Williamsport, about an hour northwest of Knoebels. The atmosphere at the LLWS is exciting but family oriented, with kids and families from around the country and the world having a dream vacation. Several times we'd find a bunch of the little leaguers enjoying a day at Knoebels too. By the way, entry to the LLWS is also free, so this was always our least expensive (and least stressful) summer vacation. My kids are in their 20's and 30's now, but the memories are still fresh.

We live in North East Pennsylvania and have been to Knoebels MANY MANY times. It's a very nice park especially for families that have "Thrill Seekers" as well as Non-Riders. You don't have to pay a fortune to go and enjoy the day. Additionally, you can buy Ride TIckets and they NEVER EVER expire. Knoebels has multiple ways to get Discounts on tickets. We buy them in bulk and keep them handy for the "Next" trip too.

The rides in this park are the most interactive anywhere lol. You can ride the Phoenix standing up and looking backwards then hit the Flyer and try to tear the machine down with downforce. Excellent park and you have the chance of running into the Hardcore Legend himself Mick Foley as he visits this park numerous times a year. Have a nice day!

Important update on the low sensory room: they recently moved it to a new location near the haunted house, and it seems they might be getting more informed because Kozmo now has an infinity symbol on his shirt rather than a puzzle piece (the organization associated with it is becoming more and more unpopular and rightfully so)
Anyway! This is my home park and even my mom worked there the year the Phoenix was put in. Due to my proximity to the park and the free admission, it's honestly a good place to just go for lunch and a ride or two! I highly recommend a teaberry + birch beer float from the old mill ice cream stand as well.

I am a member of The Avalons, the group that was playing at the bandshell while you were there. Thank you for the kind mention. We have been playing at the park for a week, every year, for 18 years. This park is so great. As you noted, very unique. Also, the family that owns and runs the park is a group of amazing people. Staff is great. Food is amazing. It’s only drawback is being so remote, but I think that is also what has made it possible to keep that “old” amusement park feel. Glad you got to experience Knoebels. I’m sure that they appreciate the review, as well. Safe journeys!

I couldn’t believe an amusement park where you park your car for free get on a tram from the parking lot to park, can take your own food if you choose. All for free. And the food you can buy is excellent and reasonably priced. I like the potato pancakes. The rides were great and reasonably priced as well. I have to give a 5 star rating to the Knoebel Family, they do a great job!

Food deserves its own section!! Probably the only park that people will go to just to eat dinner. They even have some of their most famous items at special holiday events off-season because people can’t get enough. The prices are very good for food.
Also, ticket books last forever, which makes a knoebels trip so low-risk weather-wise especially if one lives close enough. Vouchers for ticket books can even be purchased at area supermarkets for a lower cost than these are in-park. Many area businesses or organizations give their employees or members tickets and host yearly picnics in the pavilions. There are also tons of special prices- Tuesdays in July were buy one get one ride-all-day passes this year!!

It's a shame you guys didn't have the best operations experience. Even though we live around 2 hours away, we consider this our home park and I've been going there for 20+ years, pretty much my whole life. COVID really hit the park's staffing hard, and the fact that it's a family park and not a major corporate chain like Cedar Fair or Six Flags doesn't allow it much wiggle room when it comes to finances.
You really have to visit a multitude of times to really appreciate what the park has to offer and what sets it apart from others. The park is still kinda recovering from COVID and I don't think they'll be fully at that point until next operating season.

    • @calebisaloser8608
      @calebisaloser8608 ปีที่แล้ว +10

This is very true. I think the day of the week also affects the amount of staff on hand - as in weekday vs weekend- as well as the amount of trains being run on the coasters, etc, which just makes sense based on when the most people can visit. This season is for sure more staffed overall than last season. From what I’ve seen pre-and-post-pandemic, many long-time or older team members (I assume) have since retired / had to stop / are not around anymore :( because of covid.
Also, all the ride operators are so kind at knoebels. Catching the brass ring, for example, comes with a huge congratulations; the conductor of ole smokey made my day when we talked about steam-powered trains. So special.

I don't like the later start to the day at 12pm, when it used to be at 10AM. That worked better for our travel plans. The other thing is that many of the attractions we have enjoyed over the years were closed. One of those being the chair lift ride up the mountain, which my 10 year old son kept asking about. Another being the Flyer (the one mentioned powered by the tractor engine) We enjoyed short lines at the Flying Turns however, which allow me and my son to ride 3 times. Still, despite the glitches with rides closed and limited operating hours, everything in the park is well maintained and in great working order.

As you said, you can bring your own food, but why bother when you have a tremendous variety of reasonably priced options. From breakfast till dinner, the options are endless. All you can eat fish fry, all you can eat spaghetti, turkey legs, pork chops on a stick, Alligator bites, Polish foods, Mexican, American, roast beef, potato cakes, pierogies, and of course Pizza. In addition, a full service indoor restaurant (the Alamo) where you can relax and have a complete dinner indoors. We live three hours away, and will come multiple times a year, sometimes just to enjoy the different foods. The Crystal Pool is something you missed. Spring fed water means the pool is always cool, even on the hottest days. Admission to the pool includes a locker, and you can enter and leave as often as you like. Knoebels and Hershey are my two local parks, I don’t love PA at times for various reasons but we’re truly blessed to have two world class parks for extremely different and diverse reasons so close together. Knoebels will always have a special place in my heart and I think that’s the gold to it, it’s not about being an enthusiast, it’s about experiencing something completely unexpected and finding that charm. Whether you love coasters, antiques, museums, bizarre rides or just quality time with the family. Knoebels will come glowing with that charm, maybe it won’t be your favorite theme park, but you will always remember your experience there if you embrace it. Something will catch your eye, something will remind you of being a kid or will be that lifelong memory you’ll have as a kid. That’s why Knoebels is world class, that’s why I always recommend it over any other theme park. Knoebels is always that park that people say “probably won’t go back” but you’ll find yourself missing parts of it, if you’re back in the area I’m willing to bet you’ll feel that pull to go back. My favorite amusement park! I live 15 minutes away from Hersheypark and would rather drive an extra hour for Knoebels any day of the week. (Especially now that I'm a little older and candle handle some of the faster rides like I used to.)

Knoebel’s is the best park out there.

As an extreem local, (I live 10 minuets away) I am there multiple times a week just to walk my dog. You forgot to mention it is Very pet friendly. Got a pet? is it safe in public? bring it!

Knoebels is the ONLY!!! Park we visit anymore. And yes we have a few options like 6Flags Great Adventure and Dorney Park neither one compared to Knoebels hands down. It's peaceful plenty of shade and will not brake your wallet, plus the tickets for rides NEVER expire 😉👍 so you can bring your leftover tickets next year. Oh and yes they have their own campground..

the other rides can be a lot slower, but operations on phoenix and twister on busy days are amazing. In most cases the trains will be ready to dispatch long before it's even safe to leave the station. With two trains running Phoenix can clear a full queue in less than 15 minutes.

The Phoenix is the best roller coaster bar none! I laughed ‘til I cried, as I awaited death by ejection! Of course, this did not happen. For some odd reason, the thought that it very well could happen, is hilarious! The whole thing just seems rickety and out-of-control! But, that’s the illusion - or is it!??? 😂
