Hi all, just a quick update, we heard from Sapphire about the shroud design and the 'looseness', here's what they had to say: 'It's because we use the spring/screw to mount the backplate and the shroud With spring/screw, it’s normal that the shroud will move, but it does not affect the performant or cause any noise of the product. Pls note the shroud will move only when people use their hands to pull the shroud.' This is more or less what I said in the video - it's not a functionality issue as the GPU is very secure against the heatsink, it's just the plastic that moves. Not a deal breaker but definitely something to be aware of if you pick up the card for the first time and feel it wobble.
That shroud design is deliberate its essentially "floating" using those spring mounted screws to dampen noise and reduce vibration, a cost effective way to achieve better noise profile
yeah it could be - the key to remember is it's not a functionality issue, just a perception of quality. as we say, the GPU is 100% secure against the heatsink but it doesn't necessarily give the best first impression to the end-user

I think what would be cool to see is benchmarking against cards at comparable cards price range using percentages. This is done in an absolutely excellent fashion by "Daniel Owen" on youtube. It's nice seeing performance numbers in a big graph, but he will use 100% as the 'poorest performing' card on a specific title/settings arrangement, then show the "uplift" on the other card by marking it as 110%, 116%... etc which makes it very easy to understand what you are looking at, quickly.
that's not a bad idea - it's something we could look at for our launch-day reviews, we already show a 12-game average FPS figure so you get a clear idea. I think there's still more value in seeing raw FPS, as ultimately you want to know what frame rate is delivered. If a 7600 is shown as 200% faster than a GTX 1060, but the 1060 only gives 8 FPS for example, it's not such useful information. These AIB card reviews are less focused on gaming performance anyway, as the margin of difference between a custom and reference card is very, very small.I like the idea for a launch review though and will see what we can do with it
@@KitGuruTech I would agree, dont change. I quite like Daniel Owen, but I find his graphs are hard to digest and as you say. sometimes it is tricky to actually see if a 300% percentage is actually meaning its playable at all.
Thanks for the advice. You are not the first to mention the wobbly plastic shroud. But since it only supports the fans I think that Sapphire could (tongue in cheek) suggest that it was deliberate to avoid transmitting fan vibration to the delicate electronics. Joking aside it doesn't seem like the biggest issue.
I was really worried about the hot spot temps. The noise levels on this card are still loud as all hell when playing Diablo 4 at high settings. It runs a lot hotter than I was expecting it to for a card that runs around 165 - 170 watts. Saphire usually makes the best Radeon GPUs and with RDNA 3 improvements on a gimped 128-bit memory bus, I expected the card to run a little quieter and cooler than it does on default settings. Then again, it was processed on 6nm unfortunately.

Thanks for the review I will probably be picking one of these up as its the only card locally without silly pricing. the slower 3060 8gb is 550 nzd with 12gb at 630 while this is faster at 520 nzd. as for amd there last gen is out of stock at this price point.
I think Sapphire's products usually stand above the rest in terms of build quality and price vs. performance. You might pay a bit more, but it's worth it, if you ask me..
I am eyeing a Sapphire 6700 XT as my upgrade. There's Asus Dual and Gigabyte Eagle close in price, but after reading up a lot, I think the best option would be Sapphire. Did anyone here test or buy 6700 XT Pulse? Should I go for it or for some other 6700 XT model?
In my opinion, this was not a good review. Most likely, the reason for the play in the shroud is for sound deadening. If it was more rigid like he wants it to be, it would probably be noisier. So he spent about 10 minutes on something that wasn't a problem. Then he spects it against. an ordinary RX7600. When he should have been pitting it against all cards in the same price bracket. Most people want value for money when it comes to GPUs, we are not all wealthy millionaires. just tell us where it comes in the value-for-money stakes. And if there is a better card That we should go after instead, tell us which one, in the summary. Edit I take it all back except for the shroud, In hindsight this is a Good and fair assessment of the card.
Hi, I made it clear the wobble isn't a deal breaker as the contact between the GPU and heatsink is not affected - it's just something to be aware of. And in the conclusion I specifically mention the 6600, 6600 xt and 6700 xt as products to consider instead (with screenshots of the current pricing that's very appealing). I like your choice, by the way, because that's the card I have and I find it to be very good, I have listened to the video again and I apologise. My brain must have glazed over as soon as the stats came on. I saw the video again and towards the end, you did everything I asked for. So I'll take back my statement. And I will say it was a fair assessment. I think that I started to glaze over when I saw all the bar charts and stats for things that I think are not really necessary. All we need to know is if it's a good card or a bad one But I do apologise.
Are you sure about DP 1.4 on this card vs. DP 2.1 on the reference board? DP 2.1 is build into the Navi-33 GPU, it's not something to be added by the board partner. So every RX7600 GPU has DP 2.1 outputs, unless they would deliberately cripple it down to 1.4 through additional circuity. And why would they do that, it would be stupid and increase the cost of the board for no reason...
I have a Sapphire ( Nitro ) 7900 atm, first card from them, and I'm pretty blown away with the cooling on it - full power draw, steady around 76C & I can't hear it over the CPU fans ( and I'm pretty OTT about fan noise so they're quiet too ). Now I wish they'd go back into motherboards. The play on the shroud came up i GamersNexus teardown on it - is it possible the shroud is deliberately loose so it absorbs fan vibration rather than transmitting it to the PCB? I've not put my hands on one so I don't know, is there any damping where it's screwed in?
I don't think it's about the vibration - there's no visible damping, and most cards don't have that issue anyway. It's possibly a by-product of the fact the heatsink isn't screwed into the shroud (unlike most graphics cards), but i couldn't say for sure

i hate cards that are thicker than 2 slots if not neccessary, as well as being taller than the case slot if it can avoid being too long, i want a card i can safely use in a wide variety of SFF cases, its strange that the only 2 slot 7600 costs more than a 2 slot 7600XT, the Powercolor Fighter
yep the screws were tight, and I noticed Gamers Nexus also found similar in their tear down vid of the Pulse 7600 so we can rule out a dodgy sample. seems either deliberate or an oversight

It's normal, only shroud with fans move, not a heatsink. Heatsink is secured with separate screws and this is made so you can easly open and clean everything from time to time without need to remove heatsink (most likely ripping thermal pads in process). Sapphire used something similar even long time ago, back with HD series.

I want a minimum of 12 GB at this price point for today's GPUs... Never mind Nvidia, which this generation is totally dead to me, AMD still had a chance. But they decided to do what team green did. Which is to give us too little video card memory, and honestly even a cut down in almost everything else while maintaining a relatively large price. If AMD can bring us a minimum of 12 GB at this price point, I will then consider them the real GPU company. Eight, six, even 10 gigabytes should not be at this price point And I'm talking for 1080p gaming here. For 1440p, I want a minimum of 16 GB and honestly I want to see a good option at a reasonable price with 20 gigabytes for 1440p. Reasonable is not over 500 US dollars or the equivalent in everybody else's market
We need to boycott ALL graphics cards with less than 16GB VRAM, no matter how cheap, or at least in any cards over £100! Anyone who needs a cheap card should buy second hand rather than wasting their money on a NEW GPU with less than 16GB; save your money until NVidia and AMD accept that we demand a higher standard of gaming which requires 16GB VRAM as ENTRY level, without exception, on ALL new cards. VRAM is used for huge numbers of features, besides the best looking textures, in the latest generation of games, by graphics engines like Unreal 5.2 now! 8GB is already dead as it can't even handle entry level 1080p resolution at ultra settings NOW, and NO, 12GB is not an acceptable compromise (we see you AMD trying to sneak out several new 12GB "MID-RANGE" GPUS!?!) as its rapidly becoming not enough, so has too short a shelf life to not be a rip off! It's past time to leave 2016 graphics and VRAM levels in the past!

Like the removable fan shroud as it makes it easy to clean that heatsink.
Sapphire has been my goto since the 90's their support is unparalleled and build quality is top notch.
You cannot go wrong with a Sapphire.
I have a Sapphire Radeon HD 6950 1gb from 2010... and it still works xD

Sapphire are always a reliable choice.
What you get is a pretty decent entry level card that will still give you very good performance and not bad efficiency.

The reason the top shroud is like that is for vibration dampening. Nothing wrong with the build quality at all.
Needs to justify his wage somehow so picks up on a non problem to show how diligent he is.

My sapphire rx 7600 runs 79c annd yesterday i saw green flickering and my pc crashed and when i play r6s i heard wierd noise from speaker

pretty good card that, not sure im massively excited about the 7600 however - another disappointing card from AMD (proving its not just only Nvidia).

So +6W for nothing? I ilybought Sapphire since 2019, but that is disappointing. Well, I got all my GPUs for the next years anyway.
