Good afternoon. I recently stumbled upon you via TH-cam recommendation. So glad I did. Was watching your floss organizer and you asked for any input. I use something called Pako thread organizer for my projects. This allows me to organize my project and not having to unwind thread a zillion times. Hugs to you both and thanks for all the creative and fun TH-cam videos.
My naster set & storage is in floss bags. For small projects I'll kit the bags onto a ring. For large projects, i move floss onto cardboard keepers. Mostly me-made with some by LoRan. great channel, ty!! 🎉
Brand new to your channel and THOROUGHLY enjoyed the murder house discussion during Midsummer Stitch. I am so inspired with the Atom Heart floss drops b/c I am a bobbinator for DMC but like to keep my "fancy floss" on the tag. I feel like the Atom Heart gets me the best of both worlds and I did not know they existed. Thank you so much!
Live test tutorials! 🌈 So helpful as I’ve just got back into cross stitch Did it with my mum when I was a child And that was many, many, many moons ago
Ooooh! I love the concept of drops that convert to bobbins for storage. I've been making my own drops from card stock for projects. I consider them disposable; I put the color number and symbol on the drop. I've been stumped for what to do when project is finish, and now I'll be looking into the Atom Heart. Thanks for another great video!! 💧
💧 you are going to love having your master set organized! I pull two to three strands per sub set card. I can always refill it if I run out but I don’t want a thousand strands of DMC 310 needing to go back onto my master set ring. Likewise, my master set only has one skein of floss at a time. Dye lots and snagging it needs to be considered. But I know you have already thought about these things!!! Happy Organizing 💛🪡💛. Btw I use small luggage tags
Erin Elizabeth Designs FlossTube #11 shows how she makes floss drops using stencil plastic and cut with her Cricut machine. (That’s how I had the idea to use the dollar tree cutting board sheets for my own (more complicated but less fancy because I cut them by hand) floss drops - I had heard elsewhere that the cutting sheets were great for quilting templates, so I figured they would work.) If you want super thin Stephanie, I doubt you’ll find thinner, lol! I want to get one of those really thin plastic placemats to try making some colored/patterned ones for fun, because I think they should work similar… 💧
It is always cool to see how stitchers are storing their floss. Back in the 1980s and 1990s, bobbins were about the only thing that people used. I gave up cross stitching for about 20 years and upon returning to it recently, I discovered there are a multitude of options. Wow! Thanks for sharing so much info on floss drops. 💧
I just started watching your flosstube extras and I love them!!! I’ve been stitching a while but I could definitely be more efficient and organized so I learn something new everyday!
Newbie stitcher here, and my current project is bobbin style, but I’m moving to a similar floss drop bobbin design (3D printed by a local maker here in Australia) for my next project. I think that will work better for how I’m finding I like to stitch, especially being able to easily store working thread.
My master set is skeins. I wrap the working thread around the middle. In a project I use baggies. Can't handle the fussiness of bobbins and I don't really like pulling a strand off drops because mine always curls a lot then I have a hard time with knotting. I put fancy floss back on the drops when done.
Just in the midst of trying ways to store floss. I used the old cardboard bobbins in the 90's, don't like the kink in the thread. I use to iron to use! I bought a deck of cards and tried it, it's ok, prefer the gift tags. So trying drops now. I'd rather spend the $ on patterns, fabrics than drops. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this subject.
I am moving to floss drops. I want to keep my floss in baggies, but I want to put the floss on floss drops so I can have multiple projects going. With baggies, I can use the color on only one project, or it is a nightmare to keep track of the threads. I am also using floss drops for blended threads.
💧Love a DIY project - because I'm sure gift tags are something we ALL have lurking the the back of the closet so that's super handy! I'm a beginner and have just been using 14 count aida with DMC using the loop method (love it - so tidy!) and think I will probably try different cutting lengths and systems as I progress; I appreciate the encouragement to try and see if it works for you.
I'm a bobbinator from way back. My main issue is if I put my DMC collection on floss drops, how do I store them after I'm finished with the project. I just don't think it's worth the effort for me. But I do keep my fancy floss on the drops they come in, stored in a clear plastic shoebox.
💧I punch floss drops from old greeting cards - sometimes I punch signature of loved one no longer with us. Nice to think of them while stitching. Most of the drops are just pretty pictures from the front of cards. (Lots of Christmas, but that’s ok!)
I have been hesitant to pull the trigger on floss drops because I don’t like bobbins, so this is very informative and makes me want to take the plunge. How long do people usually cut their threads to be? I’m a loop start 2 stranded Aida stitcher. 💧
💧I started out with winding bobbins and have recently switched over to floss drops. What a game changer!! What kind of gift tags did you use to make yours?
I've just gone from bobbins to floss drops (only took 6 months), so for projects, it depends on how many colours I need, either playing cards hole punched (1 or 2 colours) then up to 8 it's acrylic ones, any more than 8 and I have those plastic cards with 20 ish holes. My master set is a load of key fobs on a mandala hoop, which currently lives round the neck of my mannequin. I have a question for a later episode though. When moving from master set to project set, how do you work out how much to transfer over?
Oooo good question!! I’m moving to having a master set and using thread keeps so I will have to learn this too. I know there’s a way to calculate how many stitches you can get per thread so it looks like a little extra math is involved 🧐I will find out!

Your videos are such a treat to watch, always providing great tips! Huge, thank you for posting
I am a floss bag person. Have been stitching over 50 years. That is my favorite. I do kit off them onto drops, sometimes. 💧

Thank you for doing this series. Much appreciated. 💧
💧 Love this tutorial! New stitcher and so happy to find your channel. I have so much to learn and play with… 💜🤩👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽💧💧💧
I’m so excited! Welcome to an amazing community of supportive friends!!
💧I started with bobbins but am now slowly starting to use floss drops. Love your videos!

Ohh luggage tags. Creative!
@imnotcrossimstitchin here’s a tip - just a few? I’m sure it’ll be trial and error at first then like anything you’ll get comfortable with estimating

First time watching your video! Love it! I have always wondered how floss drops worked. 💧
💧Such a wealth of choices. I love that some brands already have a floss drop tag.

Great! I learn new things about this craft allll the time. We can never have too much Stitchy knowledge 😂
💧great tips and tricks! I mainly use bobbins for my dmc and keep my fancy floss on their cards as makeshift floss drops like y’all mentioned.

Still a bobbinator, but I do enjoy learning about other methods. You always do a great job of describing the topic, as well as the pros and cons. 💧
Thank you!
I was just looking for this today!!! Thank you!!! Awesome channel!
Informative. I typically don't use floss drops but it was interesting. 💧

For the Atom Heart, bobbin, how would you put a pip and chip label on it? For example, a WDW label meant for a bobbin. 💧

😊💧
💧☺
What is you’re working on multiple projects with the same color? Do you have the same color on multiple floss drops?
⛲💧🌧🌈
I've seen people cut up tissue boxes and turn those into floss drops too. 💧
