I like to keep my embroidery floss sealed up in plastic bags to protect them from too much exposure to oily skin and dust. I can find everything I need for my cross stitch projects without any problems.
    I use 8" x 3" bags from Amazon

Sterilite Large 2 Layer Stack & Carry Clear from Target

This is the most sensible storage of floss I have come across! Thank you for your sanity! I am constantly doing one type of needlepoint, embroidery, cross-stitch, etc., and have two plastic "shoe boxes" loaded with floss, which I have placed in clear bags BUT not the right size. So, I was close, but not close enough! I also have multiple skeins of each color because I'm never sure how much I'll need and I hate running out! Your method is going to make my life so much easier. I'm going to invest in the right equipment...the correct size plastic bags and the right size container to house them. Thanks a million!

I just implemented this storage system after watching this video. Thank you for sharing this. I'd been searching for some time to find a good affordable storage system. This is awesome. It did take me a while to get all my floss in the bags, but now I can kit a project soooo fast.

Could you give me the measurements of the storage box? I’m ordering online and I don’t want to have to return it. Love this method.

It's an interesting system and I'm glad it works for you and others. However, the "best way" to store embroidery floss is whatever system works for and individual. I have tried a system very like yours and hated it. I find a mix of bobbins for DMC and floss drops for WDS, GAST, CCW works best for me. I'm sure you would hate it.

For storage 500 DMC colors in sachets, how many boxes do we need ?

Where do you get these long bags??? I thought threads stored in bags was not good for the threads?? Really interested in where you can purchase these types of bags

Hi. I think I found mine on eBay. It’s been so long I’m not sure.

This video is great - I was just thinking of a similar thing! I think you could use "snack size" plastic bags (6.5" x 3.5") that are sold everywhere, you don't have to place a special order. The floss will probably fit in those bags just fine and the bags will fit in plastic shoe boxes that are sold everywhere (reducing cost).

I ordered some floss from DMC and really liked the bags it was packed in, so I bought some to organize my floss. But then I wasn't sure how to organize the bags lol. I was beyond happy to see this video! You got me to the finish line - thank you so much! Also, what a clever and simple way of organizing floss that I have not seen before. Thank you!

You have a great point, but if you look at the side you can see everything that drops. I’ll make a video response to this!

Floss drops are pretty, but if you don't have them in SOMETHING, some type of container, then they'll get all dusty and will attrract dirt and hair -- yucch! Why do you need to SEE the floss? You're storing and choosing them by number, not color.
