    I am from Spain and i had goosebumps watching this video. For the Spaniards the Jamon Ibérico and the croquetas are just part of us, and you treated the product so good. Making croquetas with a good jamon is an amazing way to enjoy the jamon too. In my family, we usually buy a jamon in christmas, becouse is an expensive invest. But it is amazing to have visit at home and cut some jamon in a plate to enjoy it together.
    Thank you for your video, and thank you for extend our culture with the world.

    Only one slight suggestions for crispier croquetas. Before frying put then in the fridge for a couple of hours. This stiffens the bechamel and lets the crust become crispier while the filling comes to temperature. It also prevents the croquetas from busting.

    Hi Nick. I also come from Spain and more specifically from the most known region of the Iberian ham breed Andalucía. The croquetas were quite spot on however it is true, also from the other jamón ibérico video where you made the carbonara, that ham doesn’t specifically need to be cooked or toasted to not lose that rich, salty and greasy taste which it offers. For instance in the bechamel make only the bechamel separately and then add those beautiful chunks of diced jamón to the mixture, but don’t fry the jamón in the pan because it is losing its flavor in the process. By the way I’m not trying to look like Gordon Ramsey either.

Overall very good, you still needing to practice a little bit more how to cut it but it is nice you have tasted that special flavour. Just a tip, try to put as a desert combined with melon, just find Jamon and melon

    Many people who travel to Spain complain and even rant about how disgusting it is to see those jamones hanging from the bar ceilings and in supermarkets. It has a porpoise, and that porpoise is to take you to a flavor heaven. These two guys understand!!! Now you just need a good beer and maybe some cheese and some village sausage to have a nice chill tapa day. Spanish style.

  • @MrMaja8
    @MrMaja8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, first time in this channel and I just want to make an observation. A spanish person would never recommend you to consume “la pata de jamón” as an ingredient to make something. From being cutted (very well done) directly to the mouth. That’s the best way of enjoying this blessing 😊

    In case you wanna try this trick for croquetas, you can lower the amount of flour on te bechamel, and add gelatine at the end of the process (the normal one that comes in sheets, obviously hidrated) then, rest the dough in the refrigerator so the gelatine gives consistence to the mix in rder to be floured and breadcrubmed, then u fry. The result will be even more creamyer/liquid at the end as the gelatine only gives consistence being cold.

    You got one of the best brands of jamón Ibérico there are in Spain , I just comment to say something I didnt see on comment box: Never have a hand on the knife path , there have been gruesome cuts cutting jamón , so the good way of holding the leg is placing the rear end towards you grabbing the top of the leg with one hand and the other for cutting obviously ,like "playing" a delicious violin, greetings from Spain!!

    I'm not gonna lie to you Nick, I was scared of how you cut the fat of the jamón, but since it's your first time doing it I get it. And also thank you and Guga for spreading Spanish cukture with the croquetas amd jamón, if you want to continue with the Spanish dishes personally I recommend to you the Pulpo a la gallega, or the Braviolis, or Rabo de toro, Spain has multiple dishes you can taste and fall in love with them.

    As a Spaniard....really, jamón is like a religion in our country. If you go out for dinner you cannot fool a Spaniard giving him bad jamón, it's a real insult! I only tried 5J jamón once in a wedding, and I was literally nervous waiting for the "cortador" (litterally, "the slicer", the skilled guy who slices the jamón) to set up those nice plates full of that wonder called jamón ibérico... Thanks for this great rendition to this incomparable product!
