As a Vietnam Vet, this song carried me through that hell hole and brought me back home. Keep up the good work and have you reacted to another one of my favorite bands, Rage Against the Machine?

Yes! Run Through The Jungle is so important & timely. Addressed gun violence in America, plus it was so very important for our men in Nam. They felt every word of this song, as I've been told by some vets (who speak of time In Country). Powerful.

They wrote the sound track to the Vietnam war, years before Hollywood decided they made good music to use in Vietnam war movies. And this song is one of the most iconic Anti-war songs ever made, maybe even THE most iconic, you hear this (i do anyway) and in your mind's eye, you see Helicopters, men in boots, dragging through the thick mud and dark jungles, during monsoon season, in the darkness, trying to survive. These were the unfortunate son's, the young men who got drafted to fight the war, while the rich parents of "fortunate son's" made sure their kids could not get drafted. (this song is about those people) Wars are always fought by the "normal people, the poor, the lower income class" to benefit the rich, who do NOT send their kids to fight in the wars they crave. Willie and The Poor Boys is the album, the song is Down on the Corner. Great album, my favourite bit is the progression from Poorboy Shuffle, through Feelin' Blue to Fortunate Son. It works really well x
Creedence had the distinction of having two songs banned from U.S. armed forces radio during the Vietnam War: This song and Run Through the Jungle. Oh, and I vote for Willie and the Poor Boys for the next CCR track.
I agree with the sentiment of the song but it sort of rings a bit hypocritical when you consider that John Fogerty avoided going to war himself after he was drafted by joining the Army Reserve.
@@matthewlee6168 Well, at least he joined the Reserve. Actually, The Reserves had one of the highest chances of deployment. My dad was on standby for deployment a couple of times, but his job saved him from that horrible fate.
No epic, complicated songs... just solid rhythms and incredible song writing by John Fogerty.... and that voice! This is music you'll have with you your entire life.
Within the span of just 3 or 4 years, these guys dropped a handful of albums full of tons of classic songs! More than many artists over their decades long carreer... just incredible.
The year I graduated from high school, the boys in my class, who had to apply to the draft upon turning 18, got their draft numbers, yet, thankfully, soon learned that the war was ending, and they would not be called to active duty. Throughout middle school and high school we would learn of the boys from our town who were killed in Viet Nam. There are many great, absolutely bangin' anti-war songs from the 60s thru the early 70s, and this is one of my favorites!
What I love about "Lodi" is I grew up about 45 minutes from there in an even smaller Central Valley town in NorCal. Made the lyric a lot more meaningful because I could relate. lol
Proud Mary is the best American song ever! including the National Anthem! But for these two boys I agree. They should've gone directly to Born on the Bayou for their introduction to CCR.
"Born on the Bayou" is their anthem imo. You've probably heard it in movies before. "Down on The Corner" and "Proud Mary" are great too. Although if I were to be honest...Ike and Tina Turner kind of one-upped them on "Proud Mary"

CCR definitely loves their formula, short and sweet, with a message. Their music appealed to a very wide demographic, wider than the Beatles, some said, and they rode that formula to a great success until their bitter 1972 breakup.Their rhythms are smooth, happy and predictable. Their messages vary from the exposition of Cajun culture to political themes, drugs and of course, the war in Vietnam. For the veterans, top 40 songs like these became the soundtrack of their wartime memories. You can't see a movie about Vietnam without hearing some CCR.
Love Andy and Alex (watched over 3 dozens of their reactions), so young and getting easily over 97% right on things that happened well before they were even born.
Thanks for another trip down memory lane guys! My older brother (a Vietnam Veteran) was a diehard country fan and wouldn't listen to any rock music. This made it a drag to try to hang out with him. Love this song...grew up during the last of the Vietnam War...the rhythm guitar and bass are phenomenal! Thanks for featuring it! I love watching your expressions as you listen to music I grew up listening to!
A lot of CCR songs have that kind of monotonal quality: Run Through The Jungle, Green River, this one...you’re right. They don’t go far from the main chord structure. Up Around The Bend, however, DOES have a snappy beat, crescendos, and a banging guitar riff. Peace, guys!
I remember when my older sister brought Cosmos Factory home one day....fell in love eith that album! You had the British invasion going on at the time, so it was really refreshing to hear a band like CCR pump out the hits. Felt the same way about the Doobie Brothers....loved the British material, but it was nice to have bands like this around. Fogarty's vocals -man alive! Green River probably my favorite. Glad you guys enjoyed it!
Travelin' Band, Bad Moon Risin', Green River, Run Thru the Jungle. CCR was my first record purchase. My favorite band post Beatles. I got to see John Fogerty a couple of years ago. He was like 70! But so good. Impressive energy and a great guitar player. He sounds the same vocally.
"I put a spell on you" for screamin blues rock (and i do mean screamin). BTW just became a patron. Only channel i've done it for. Thanx for all you do. Lookin fwd to more "BEATLES" on patreon.
You are just scratching the surface with all the great CCR songs, both radio-friendly short ones and longer ones with epic jams. Another short one that packs a lot of punch is Commotion. My favorite is Born On The Bayou. But all the other songs mentioned here are awesome too. I don't feel comfortable giving my credit card on Patreon and I don't know how to use Pay Pal. But if I should ever run into you at Walmart, I'll be happy to throw you a couple of bucks.

These oldies take me back to my younger days and I really appreciate a younger audience enjoying these older songs like I did when I first heard them (and still do!!). Thanks!
CCR is one of the greatest bands of the '70s. I listened to their vinyl as I cleaned the house way back in the day~~you can groove to ALL their songs, or at least I did in my late teens & I still listen to this group a lot! Thanks for reviewing 1 of MANY of their great songs.
Fuck the establishment, they're all going to hell! They silence our Freedom of speech, but brings bills into law to line their pockets. Lord, don't they help themselves!
Yep, you are right. It's just good. All of it. Put on a CCR tune any time, any place, and it's a party. I got to throw out 'Looking Out My Back Door' or 'Heard it Through the Grapevine' as just a couple of recommendations. There are sooo many great songs from them...
Hi guys. So, this song was written during the era of the Vietnam war. The references to not being a senator’s son or people being born with a silver spoon in their hand, spoke to those of privilege who could advocate for favor within their circles, an option not available to others in that generation. This was especially true when it came to the draft, and being sent off to war. In essence, this was a form of protest.
A top-five band for me as I grew up during the 60s & 70s listening to CCR & their lyrics always reflected the times. A blue-collar band IMO as their songs definitely fit my lifestyle. Less is more=CCR!!! Proud Mary and Down on the Bayou!!!
They pretty much created their own genre called swamp rock. Try Born on the Bayou, Down on the corner, Green River, Lookin Out My Backdoor and Who'll Stop the Rain
Creedence were their own genra.. if I was depressed they would fulfill at crushing that emotion and get me right again... peace n Rock On young dudes🤘 old dude out!😂😂😎🤘✌️

Love this song...grew up during the last of the Vietnam War...the rhythm guitar and bass are phenomenal! Thanks for featuring it! I love watching your expressions as you listen to music I grew up listening to!
25 or 6 to 4 by Chicago. Great Song, Great Guitarist!
Green River, Traveling Band, Sweet Hitchhiker...they have many good ones.
A lot of CCR songs have that kind of monotonal quality: Run Through The Jungle, Green River, this one...you’re right. They don’t go far from the main chord structure. Up Around The Bend, however, DOES have a snappy beat, crescendos, and a banging guitar riff. Peace, guys!
sarahzentexas Yes! Up Around the Bend & Green River!
Up around the bend!
Could you do some Ramones reactions in future?
Travelin' Band, Bad Moon Risin', Green River, Run Thru the Jungle.
CCR was my first record purchase. My favorite band post Beatles. I got to see John Fogerty a couple of years ago. He was like 70! But so good. Impressive energy and a great guitar player. He sounds the same vocally.
Up around the bend and run through the jungle good tunes
Imperative listening Suzie Q, run through the jungle.
"I put a spell on you" for screamin blues rock (and i do mean screamin).
BTW just became a patron. Only channel i've done it for. Thanx for all you do. Lookin fwd to more "BEATLES" on patreon.
For an intense, smoldering, swamp rocker ... give "Born On a Bayou" a listen!

Patreon is the most secure site that supports content creators, millions use it, but I do completely understand! Honestly just glad to have you watching our videos here on TH-cam, hope you’re doing well! 😁
Love this song. Love Bob Seeger's cover version, too. Other CCR suggestions: Suzie Q, Up Around The Bend, Down On The Corner.
I’d Love to Change the World - Ten Years After. Amazing song
I put a spell on you. Heard it through the grapevine. Classic CCR
I clicked on this one even before I watched the video. I had a really great feeling you'd have an awesome take on this tune. Awesome!! These oldies take me back to my younger days and I really appreciate a younger audience enjoying these older songs like I did when I first heard them (and still do!!). Thanks!
CCR, "Someday Never Comes." It has a special meaning to me and once you hear it, you'll understand why that might not be a good thing.
Yes! Amazing song. I'll go listen to that again
Yeah, that's a great one as well. Gets me choked up whenever I hear it... 'Think it was September, the year I went away...'
YES!!! That song is so under rated.
I love that song!
CCR is one of the greatest bands of the '70s. I listened to their vinyl as I cleaned the house way back in the day~~you can groove to ALL their songs, or at least I did in my late teens & I still listen to this group a lot! Thanks for reviewing 1 of MANY of their great songs.
"Up around the bend" or maybe go Status Quo - "caroline"
ccr's rain songs are my favorite. "have you ever seen the rain" is probably best, but "who'll stop the rain" is pretty good, too.
I am starting to think you guys were born in the wrong decade you love these great old tunes so much :-)
‘I’m your Captain/Closer to Home” by Grand Funk Railroad! Please! Great 3 piece 70’s rock band with soul!
Fogerty was blacklisted by the "establishment" -- reason why is VERY telling!
If you're going to do more CCR, you should do some of the deep cuts. Be among the first to do Born on the Bayou or Feelin' Blue.
They pretty much created their own genre called swamp rock. Try Born on the Bayou, Down on the corner, Green River, Lookin Out My Backdoor and Who'll Stop the Rain
Gotta do I put a spell on you by CCR
Creedence were their own genra.. if I was depressed they would fulfill at crushing that emotion and get me right again... peace n Rock On young dudes🤘 old dude out!😂😂😎🤘✌️
